Re: Alita Battle Angel Movie Trailer!

I only watched the beginning of the interview with Rodriguez. When asked about the decision behind Alita's eyes, his answer was basically "because we can". It's a tech demo.

Re: Apparently Cameron has three candidates for the lead role in Alita: Battle Angel...

I had hoped for someone like Summer Glau or Ziyi Zhang. The role needs an ass-kicker who still has a certain grace.

Is he actually dead (Last Order)?

Aga m'Badi that is. He must have realized that there were several Nova copies, and thus means to backup himself, brain and biochips and all.

"I do think he has painted himself into a corner with nigh omnipotent Alita, but we'll see how that goes."

But it was kind of fun in its own way. It's like Yukito at some point said "fuck it" and just started piling the deus ex machinas on top of each other.

Jot it down to "artistic freedom". Yukito hadn't thought about brain chips yet.

What symbol? The square with the dots? It's a digital stamp. Like a bar code, but in two dimensions.

Could it be that Yukito has hidden som sort of message?

It was SO common in Samurai Champloo, I couldn't even watch that show! Seriously, how many times does forced sex in brothels need to be brought up in a 26 episode show!? Three times, two of which were a double episode. Fairly common theme in samurai manga (Blade of the Immortal, Lone Wolf and Cub, ...

Meh. This has been discussed to death on IMDB.

What you need to consider is that Gally will be CGI. Anybody could play her. What's important is how she moves, therefore someone like Summer Glau, Zhang Ziyi or even Michelle Yeoh - women who can believably kick some butt - should be considered.

Hmm, sounds like a hoax to me. I remember reading somewhere that they're aiming for a PG-13 rating. That would mean: * No Makaku (definitely not eating brains anyway). * No stealing of backbones. * Zapan story-line seriously nerfed. * No Nova lab in future installments. * Tons of other stuff also go...

GLO 3. The purpose of the orbital ring is explained yes, but not how it works. Easy to understand, since it's quite complicated.

If I understand the papers correctly, the ring imposes a different orbital path on the construction, giving the elevators a longitudinal push and negating some of the centrifugal forces of the elevators and orbital platforms.

(I hope that made sense.)

The ring is actually an intersection of two orbital ellipses, and supposedly it makes it possible to place the orbital elevator anywhere you like. I saw some mathematical pap...
