Gummn - Mars Chronicle 036 (part 2) Is out!

Hello everyone.
Something different this time around.

We've been getting a few messages about how the script sometimes has a few errors.
Well we are a very small team and sometimes errors just slip through.

So, we've been thinking of putting the script on here for a short time after our translator has worked on it.
This would have the benefit of more people to proofread it before the finished edit.
In the meantime Pixie will be working on editing.
We were thinking of a 1 week proofread time before the final edit.

Lets see how this goes.

Spoiler:
At the end of page 5, I'd probably say something more along the lines of "There's no way she can keep this up" "Stay down until she's outta ammo", and on 13 I would change Keun's line to "Don't freak me out, I have a weak heart", and at the end of 17 "Open fire" would seem to fit better than "Ready to fire", but that's about all I can think of. English is a rough language to translate into, keep up the good work.

P.S. Forgot the spoiler

Great guys!

It reminds me of the time where the proofreading was done here and that Sergio would argue for pages about a certain way of saying things!

Keep up anyway, maybe this will help maintaining a certain dynamic of the forum.

Thanks a lot for the work btw.

Finally, a new chapter!! I barely drink, but I kinda feel like having a glass of mead in celebration, haha.

I don't think I have anything to add re: the script, but it's super nice of you to involve the forum, and I am, as always, grateful for your translations!

(On a side note: do you folks have a Ko-Fi or something similar?)

As for the chapter itself...
Spoiler:
I love that somewhat creepy body design. Also, fingers crossed for the female künstler being Gerda!

New chapter thanks, but it is so slow that the story takes an eternity to get to a good point.

I bet those three at the end of the chapter are the Spanish inquisition and they'll go.
"Nobody expects the Spanish inquisition" (play dramatic music). One of the fardarig must have said "I didn't expect the kind of spanish inquisition"
They're weapons are fear and surprise.

Alright i'll end it with saying thank you once again.

I hope kamugin has another joke in the comments as I personally like reading his thoughts they give me a good laugh sometimes

Don't expect too much of me, 00_unit. I'm just a boring bored guy.
"Spanish Inquisition", huh? I know where that came from ;) It would be nice if it were them, but those are just a handful of way way late kunstlers.
My remarks are about how Kishiro is ignoring physics to create flashy panels. Unie wouldn't be able to fire those rifles using her broom because the stick is exerting force on the opposite side where the triggers are. And how could the Major make that eyeball go up if she kicked it with her foot's side? Oh, well, perhaps I'm nitpicking too much. The yo-yo kunstler is a reminiscence of Saki Asamiya from Sukeban Deka, the greatest yo-yo fighter in Japanese pop culture.

About the chapter as a whole, it is too little for the time we had to wait for it to be released. Kentaro Miura is slower, but now he has the excuse of being working on two series while Kishiro is just fooling around.

Thank you Pixie Dust Team for your hard work.

Well Kishiro has been getting into his video games lately so there is your answer for slow release date, he reached drifters speed release dates or takehiko inoue's REAL. I admit I read out of obligation and the way I am getting enjoyment out of the series is in the comment section and making unique comments, and since kissmanga has been shutdown this place is the next best thing to comment.

Though Kamugin I wish you said when you were nitpicking you were a colonel saying: "Alright stop that it's gotten too much silly or and now for something completely different" LOL

I lost interest in serious storytelling and have been really into the comedy/light hearted genre is it hard to see good payoff more commonly.

so my theory on the little blonde girl's "ghost possession" is that she has some kind of nanotech, combat-centric brain enhancement...maybe she was a guinea pig or an accident? This could be a tie in to Jashugan AND the Necro soldiers.

Her moves are super human for sure. Cool cool cool.

For sure she could give to any of those early kunstlers a run for their money. Perhaps she could become a major influence to panzer kunst. No more yo-yo players and gimmicks. Zekka would have a good laugh with those kunstlers.

Those Kunstlers have the level of preparation that was given to Yoko. The current martian arc takes place about 10 years before the Maulwurf operation. I guess 10 years are a short time to turn a tricks and gizmos martial art in the most legendary letal martial art ever and have all degrees of practitioners ready on the field.

Probably the Kauffmann was really a low level practitioner send out to spy and scout as an expendible pawn.

Yet according to Tsykrow/Raven Tsi Yoko as well was an untalented low level kunstler (maybe he was exagerating, yet, not the pick of the crop), so i believe we have yet to see what the kunstler of mars are able to. We only saw Gerda get the rid of a full squad of well trained, experienced, cyborg mercenaries in the blinck of an eye.

So far Unye was impressive, yer she only shoot a bunch of human city guards and took briefly offguards the militars who held her ostage. She basically suckerpunched everyone. And then she collapsed. I think she wouldn't have been much of a challeng even for the kauffmann.

Yet no expelaination to why she can see what happens in the lab room after she got out. Nanomachines don't explain this.

Well, since we're all obsessing about the final panel...
The closest to fighting I've ever done was for several years doing medieval combat. Mostly I fought sword and shield. There's a lot more to using a shield than people think. Certainly the movies get it wrong, where it's just this static thing, that the hero throws away after two rounds of combat. And it's not that you strike with it, either. (That wasn't actually allowed in the stuff I did.) How you move, and how you move with it, and your sword in relation to it is all important. There's a lot of graceful renditions of two-sword fighting. There's just as much finesse in sword and shield fighting. It's just not commonly depicted.
So seeing that dude come out of the drop capsule with a shield gives me hope! Given it is an underrepresented aspect of martial arts, I'm hoping we get some good treatment here. I'll be disappointed if it is just the hatch cover, or a simple barrier to hide behind. I can only imagine with a kunster would do with a shield.
Although, personally, I would have gone with a smaller shield. There's much more you can show with them. Blocks are much more active blocks. And there's all sorts of crazy sword shots you can do that roll around the edges of your shield that you don't see coming. That's probably hard to convey in a manga. But I'll still cheer even if it's just a dumb sheild-wall type shield. :-)

If you want to see proper, expert level of shield wielding, you must hand it over to Captain America. There's none better than him to show how it's done. :D

Yes, some of those fights scenes did capture it pretty good. Kind of gets to the "think of it as two swords". The shield is as active a part of your offense/defense as your other hand.
I was very pleased with Wonder Woman's use of her shield. The bit where she is crouched down behind the shield within a hail of bullets isn't as far fetched as it seems. Even a medium sized shield like she uses, with the right profile facing the enemy it can provide a lot of cover against direct fire if you put your body in the right profile.
This is even more the case with hand held weapons. Beginning shield fighters always try to hold the shield flat on, facing their enemy. What I say to them is "you aren't trying to stop the enemy from _seeing_ you, you are trying to stop them from _hitting_ you". The key is that the trajectory of your shield needs to intersect with the trajectory of their sword _at some point_. Any intersection at all is enough to take sufficient momentum out of the blow to render it ineffective. (No, you can't "power through" someone's shield, no matter how strong you are.) This doesn't have to be at the end of a stroke, where it might as well just be a piece of armor. An active shield user will keep the shield way out, and, if you are close fighting, intercepting their sword just as they are throwing the blow. You kind of "punch their fist with your fist". Stops the sword dead before it started, leaving them to recover momentum for their next shot. And you, almost invariably, use the _rim_ of your shield to block, not the flat. That's the furthest part away from you, and closest to your enemy. If you look at an old shield it's all beaten up along the edges, and the paintwork in the middle is perfect.
But all that rim work and active blocking is hard to convey in movies or in manga. I've been at fights bouncing up and down in awe at someone's expert shield work. And non-shield-nerds don't even notice it. That's just how it is.
