Rakan: Instead of murdering us immediately, he enjoys making us his silly game puppets. He absorbs me…
Rakan: …Home du Feu's plan… …absorbs me.
panel 4
Rakan: It's useless… I'm unable to think when I'm surrounded by this pectoral structure…
Rakan: As it is, they're pressuring me… …I am pressured… Pressured!

It's perforating his secret armor…

Rakan: OOOOH!!
panel 3
Rakan: What a pity…
Rakan: …Actually, dying in a hell of breasts has always been my fantasy, but… it was just an illusion…
panel 4
Rakan: Yada! Yada!
page 05
Taraba: As it's clearly a surprising attack from the back…
Taraba: … you're a coward!!
panel 2
HdF: I've injected a poisonous plasma in your body.
HdF: Nothing can help you now.
panel 3:
Rakan: You son-of-a-bitch!!
footnote: Poisonous plasma is a type of attack that makes reference to patients of scorpionism, that is, victims of scorpion stings, in which the animal introduces its poison into the host's body, starting from an injection or wound. The concentrations detected in the plasma are correlated with the grade of severity of the patients' poisoning.

Pissarro: "…but the one who can interact or have support."
panel 2
Pissarro: I love to pervert Darwin's words.
panel 3
Pissarro: "Tactless" (or "lacking interest")! This is the antonym of "adaptation"… The hated word if we speak of corrupting!
Pissarro: The karatekas should be erased from the face of this world!!
panel 4
Olympe: Igrec… have you already…?
Olympe: Aren't I necessary for you any longer?
footnote: Charles Robert Darwin (1809-82), English naturalist who formulated the theory of evolution by natural selection, expounded in On the Origin of Species (1859) and applied to man in The Descent of Man (1871)
[Collins English Dictionary]
When Pissarro gives his explanation, he means that it is not necessary to adapt, but to adapt the things to oneself, to corrupt them so that they adjust one. Totally contrary to Darwin's theory, that says that the organisms better adapted to their environment are the ones that survive.
page 14
panel 2
Gerambo: What… what's that? Taraba has stood up!!
Gerambo: Despite the intensity of the battle, it seems that he still has more than enough energy!?

Re: Phase 82 translation script
Let's see
page 03
On time, here, works as an adverb, meaning promptly, at the correct time, punctually, in good time, to/on schedule, when expected; informal on the dot, bang on time. In time, on the other hand, means eventually, in the end, in due course, by and by, finally; one day, some day, sometime, sooner or later. [OED]
page 04
panel 1
1. I cannot comment on the raw, but in the Spanish text, it does NOT look as the name of a technique.
2. Disjoint is a verb, not a noun; thus, disjointment would be abusive - you could say disjointing.
panel 4
Is he laughing?
Well, initially I though he was shouting, but anything is possible from a dirty mind.
footnote
Make reference is the standard expression:
a rule that makes reference to nonconsecutive stages of a derivation [CED]
its poison: it's a possessive, not a contraction.
page 9
The Spanish text brings Modelo de Batalla 3…; the same way it says ¡¡Usalo!! As I am completely illiterate in Japanese…
page 13
Pissarro says that tactless is the antonym of adaptation and that adaptation is a word hated when speaking of corrupting. If you cannot see any sense, neither can I, but the text is exactly that.
page 15
My intention was really to make the tense in present perfect continuous.
page 17
Alternatively, it could be translated as This extreme boiling fist… . What do you say?
page 22
Actually, the correct text would be Within instants…, I think.
…And no way you can ignore that truth.
I opted for a more colloquial structure here. Let's keep this conversation, as I'm not so sure now.

Re: Phase 82 translation script
crazyankan, here you are the spanish version so that you put the meaning of the onomatopoeias of each page.
http://www.savefile.com/files/2084430
This is translated directly from japo.
[I have to say Reinga add their own comments in each line: "You could write this instead of this..." "it is literal, you could put this way..."] I love her for this

1. I cannot comment on the raw, but in the Spanish text, it does NOT look as the name of a technique.
---> The problem is that the same font is used later, when Taraba thinks of HdF's fist attack and there it clearly is not an atack name of course. But this font was used for attack names/ techniques before. And since the panel shows only Rakan, performing something, I would say it is a technique...
panel 4
---> according to a hiragana index, he says: "A~~ yada yada". Translation with babelfish on "yada" had no results though. Given the situation, he might just say something like "Ahh, alas!". After all he just emerged out of a wall of his beloved boobs.

---> I just copied the name of the attack from the script of Phase 81, for the consistency
the same way it says ¡¡Usalo!! As I am completely illiterate in Japanese…

page 13
Thanks for paraphrasing it. Hm, so "tactless"= "non-adaption"= antonym of "adaption" and "corrupting" (or "corruption"?) is also an antonym of "adaption" in a way, because like Pissarro said: you dont adapt yourself, you corrupt the environment to survive and rule.

Re: Phase 82 translation script
I found something regarding the "yada yada" on page 04 (the untranslated bubble).
It seems its just a phrase: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=yada
There also was a Seinfeld episode with that: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Yada_Yada
It seems its just a phrase: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=yada
There also was a Seinfeld episode with that: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Yada_Yada
The episode is one of the most famous of the series, specifically for its focus on the phrase "yada yada". "Yadda yadda" was already a relatively common phrase before the episode aired, used notably by comedian Lenny Bruce, among others. The phrase may have originated with the 1950s "yackety-yack", 1940s vaudeville, and earlier.
Before the episode aired, writer Peter Mehlman suspected that it would spawn a new Seinfeld catchphrase, but he thought it would be the phrase "anti-dentite" that would become popular.

Interesting! So, Kishiro used a tipically American slang in his text?Cailon wrote:I found something regarding the "yada yada" on page 04 (the untranslated bubble).
Well, considering the way Japanese culture has become imitative of American trends, everything is possible.
Re: Phase 82 translation script
Pretty silent in the forum, these last days.
So, nothing from Rindain or Dharko? Then we should stick to the text we have and leave Rakans sentence and Tarabas technique as it is.
@yada yada: Yes, its a bit strange that he used it. Though it could be that Rakan has us-american origins (he fights ruthless and dirty and uses some kind of nuclear warfare^^). On the other hand, I read an interview with Kishiro, where he said that he tries to draw his manga "international", meaning he tries to not draw a japan society, because we are in the future (on the ground of the former USA) and now even in space, so there simply is no japanese society there anymore.

1. I do apologize for the missing translations. I've already edited the text.
2. About the explanation on Pissarro. It is a text written by Reinga in the Spanish version. I simply retranslated it, but I agree it should be preserved, as it helps the reader to understand the paradox.
3. If you feel the need, insert this footnote on page 4:
Footnote: Yada yada - boring or empty talk (listening to a lot of yada yada about the economy) ― often used interjectionally especially in recounting words regarded as too dull or predictable to be worth repeating

Re: Phase 82 translation script
Thank you for everyone's hard work on translation this series, I know it has taken a lot of your free time! I know it's a bit late for this Sergio, but I thought that I'd point out what I thought was the most confusing about this phase. The end monologue by Taraba is hard to understand.
Taraba: …a painful memory…
Taraba: I experienced to risk my own spirit!!
What does he mean by a "risk" to his own "spirit"?
Taraba: This extreme boiling fist …it is not something that is allowed to be spent in an ordinary beast…
Taraba: This is something risky… …but to obtain something, I must move the doubts away and decide…
Taraba: A man's fist!!
Is he saying that he doesn't use the extreme boiling fist attack against ordinary opponents? What does he mean by "a man's fist" in its own sentence? Did you mean "a man's fate"? I'm a bit confused by this. Am I understanding correctly that he is reluctant to use the extreme boiling fist attack and has now made the decision to use it?
Taraba: Doubtlessly, he is a monstrous man from a distant country… …I don't know in favor of what he is thinking…
Taraba: therefore, I have fallen defeated under this circunstances too…
Does this mean "I can't tell what he's thinking because he is from a country that is so different from my own"? I'm just checking to make sure I'm understanding these translations correctly.
On another note, how long does it usually take to make a translation? I am eager to read more! I may be willing to help edit the next translation script before phase 83 is released, who do I talk to?

Hey, there has been 81 phases before this, some of them very confuses in dialogues, footnotes, etc., even for us, so, starting to explain and interpret one by one.... tomorrow maybe...

Re: Phase 82 translation script
As soon as a translation is made available, anyone in the forum is allowed to criticize, and any critic is welcome, as it is important to have a final work as good as possible.njyoder wrote:I may be willing to help edit the next translation script before phase 83 is released, who do I talk to?
It is a literal translation. I cannot affirm about Japanese, as kanji and kana to me are as clear as the writings from Alpha Centauri, but usually, in European languages at least, the nouns soul and spirit are many times interchangeable. The problem is that soul, in such a context, in all the languages I know, has a religious meaning (No! Taraba is not affraid to send his own soul to hell!) while spirit may refer to his own reason or to his own self (his physical body). Jehovah's Witnesses would prefer to associate the soul to the physical body, but that is not the case here. At the same time, to say I experienced to risk myself would destroy the original structure.njyoder wrote: Taraba: I experienced to risk my own spirit!!
What does he mean by a "risk" to his own "spirit"?
It's a case of interpretation. I understand that the extreme boiling fist is a special attack that must be used only against special contenders, and Taraba sees Homme-de-Feu only as a monstrosity, unworthy of such a honorable maneuver. The problem is that he has no other option. It's a conflict between his values and reality. I believe everyone has already lived such conflicts. The symbology here (as it persistently happens in Kishiro's work) is clear. As to "man's fist", it's repeated sometimes, even because it's the phase title. I agree it's a mystery. Is Taraba begging for a human opponent instead of a beast?njyoder wrote:Taraba: This extreme boiling fist …it is not something that is allowed to be spent in an ordinary beast…

Distant country here has, I think, double interpretation. Homme-du-Feu is Venusian (supposing he really is) and he is also a product of genetic engineering. Either Taraba means that he's not informed about Venusian culture and habits, or he means that he's unable to interpret a culture that's no longer human… or both.njyoder wrote:Taraba: Doubtlessly, he is a monstrous man from a distant country… …I don't know in favor of what he is thinking…

Re: Phase 82 translation script
@njyoder: your posts here and from the "alita and her romantic/ mentality"-thread:
If you're a native speaker it would be really really nice and appreciated if you'd proofread the scripts. Same goes for AOD, of course.
I don't know whether you where lurking around here for some time and just registered or if you are completely new to our situation. So in case you are new: Currently, we have no jap--> eng translator so we have to hope for a jap--> span translation to retranslate it into english. The core "team" for the scanlation here consists of a Chilean, a Brazilian, a Swede and a German and we have one thing in common, no one is a pro in english. But as no willing native speaker was found lately (neither jap nor eng), some people had to do it. Better having at least a jap->span->eng script than having no script at all and better pointing out at least some errors than none
But we are eager to end this situation, so just always post your thoughts!
Even so, the Taraba-episode "was" irritating, even with a better translation, I think. He is some religious guy with a hard to get agenda... Meh, his screentime is over after this phase anyway.

I don't know how competitive/busy scanlation groups are, but has anyone tried asking other groups to see if someone who is a Japanese speaker is willing to join?Cailon wrote:Currently, we have no jap--> eng translator so we have to hope for a jap--> span translation to retranslate it into english.
Does anyone know if scans of official translations of newer volumes are available or if there are plans to scan them? VIZ has released up to volume 11 and volume 12 comes out in october. I wonder if anyone would be willing to organize so that everyone buys just one volume and scans it or perhaps buys it for someone else to scan. It's about $10 + s/h per volume.
I've always thought that with projects like this, you could get many more volunteers if you had special software that assigned piecemeal translation assignments. For example, based on skill, it will intelligently assign each volunteer X number of pages to do and likewise for those editing the scanned images (you can even give them "experience points" for fun and have a character that "upgrades" based on it).
The idea is that it's easier to get 20 volunteers to do 5-10 pages each, than 2 to do about 50-100 pages each. Unfortunately, existing software isn't that well suited to this and such a method isn't well known, so it would be currently had to find support. Someday, someone will adapt bug tracking software to be better adapted to this kind of "crowd sourcing." Just a dream of mine.
