After Avatar I've started liking and respecting JC. Also, I think, that only he is capable of making it right. But still.
I DON'T WANT IT TO BE MADE BY ANYONE! Any director, any bugdet, anyway! Even if it is going to be perfect, awesome-looking, and even fan-amusing, still I'd rather sacrifice such a pleasure to the fact of not seeng it done at all.

I'd rather see any amount of Avatar instead of it.

I feel like I should point out that although it lacks the philosophical weight that titles like BAA do, One Piece is not in the same class as the other two, the writing is far better than one would expect at first glance.

I've just promised myself to read Berserk and One Piece from the start. I will let you know my new interpretation.

I just can't get over that picture XD, i didn't need to read after that because the picture says all.
I would just love to see my favorite manga getting the attention it deserves cause it should be sitting higher than any other anime series, I would see an anime working with the series better than a full length movie knowing how the details always get cut in the film.

1. He wil never make Alita, simply, as he will lack time.
2. He will hire a good director to make the film.

Obviously, there is always the great possibility of him calling the Wachowski brthers, but I do NOT intend to abandon faith.

No, I would NEVER like to see it made by any director, but you must agree that nobody would be so incompetent as the ignoble brothers. Remember their previous crimes. I must save said before that they made me rethink about capital punishment.

First, it was incredibly beautiful - I haven't seen such sights and color combinations in any other movie.
Second, the creatures and flora are so thought out, that you start beleiving they've gone through the evolution.
Third, the story is trivial, but it's served in a masterly fashion.
Fourth, the technical and CG side of the movie is the awesomest I've ever seen.

I don't like his previous movies, but this one made me reconsider. This was the only movie I didn't regret paying the cinema ticket price.

He doesn't have to modify anything - simply film the manga precisely, copy and paste, YK has done everything for him already.
It's the only way to make a masterpiece.

Anyway, the director's interpretation of it would be the worst case - any director.

Anyway, it's the best and the awesomest news for the past several weeks. BAA movie shouldn't be done at all - Avatar sequels are the perfect solution.

What about rights - if he'll _just_hold_ them to the rest of his life denying anyone of buying them and making the movie - that's the only wise decision I see.

I just saw an interview recently about James Cameron meeting with the CEO of google to discuss his next films he will be working on. Both of which are NOT Battle angel but are Avatar 2 and 3. They are scheduled for release in December 2014 and 2015. So a movie for Battle Angel goes on hiatus again!

Megan Fox casted as Alita whos a badass looking b**** wearing skin tight leather leading on all the other hunters. Hugo played as a new and upcoming action/sci-fi star Justin Bieber (although would be nice to see him getting ripped apart by the hunter warrior). throw in a couple toilet/fart/sex jokes and mind numbing pointless dialogue and thats the film we would see if he makes it

Are you kidding me? I have just checked his filmography in IMDB. The guy is a trash producer, the kind who makes only movies, never films. Just thinking about him to bring our heroine to the screens is a heresy. He would probably make her a heroin, simply, if so.

Repeating myself, I would recommend:

1. Zack Snyder (He has knowledge, knows how to direct actors, and respects the original works when making his films).
2. Robert Rodríguez (after Sin City, it is clear he can make anything).
3. Tim Burton (It would be a gothic film, but it is a cyberpunk scenario, is it not?)
4. Peter Greenaway (well, only appreciators of masterpieces would like the film, obviously).

Peter Jackson = I don't need to worry about anything. Maybe some changes from the original story?
Darren Aronofsky = Maybe it will be a too dark story and maybe too much focus on Alitas mind about being a cyborg and all. We all want to see a great action movie?
Tarsem Singh = Could create a fantastic environment. But can he create great storytelling? plus he is not a big name.

I've heard about that hypothetical BAA movie long before this forum ever existed and since then it wasn't realized fortunately. Surely a good movie is possible, like they did with the first Spider Man or Sin City, but BAA isn't an American comic, they probably will not be able to catch its essence and thus do something awful.

Also today the Hollywood mainstream believe that lots of expensive special effects are enough to do a good film, simply by hiding under them a weak screenplay. So I too desire that this BAA movie never will be produced, not in the US at least.

What I think to be necessary is another animated series, since the two OVAs made years ago are crap. Even Yukito recognized his mistake by selling the rights to animate the manga to such a weak producers... But he repeated that mistake regarding the movie =(

For an animated series or animated movie, Mamoru Oshii http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?sh ... atorid=131 could be the better choice for a director.

I think J.J. Abrams would do an excellent job with a Gunnm screenplay. However, I don't think any movie or trilogy could do the series justice no matter who did it. On the other hand, any publicity is good publicity. I'd love to see an over-sized, glossy printing of the graphic novels, kinda like what they do with Veritigo comics. Watchmen and V: For Vendetta both got the ultimate-collector's wet-dream treatment after their movie releases (though they would have likely gotten it otherwise, but the promise of sales helps speeds things along). Plus with a larger American fanbase, Yukito would probably be able to gain much more leverage with publishers and not be jerked around over lame-ass edits. Hell, you could cast Ellen Page as Gally and Michael Cera as Ido and I'd still be happy just for the series getting greater western and world-wide attention. It's really sad when such a great series has such a small following.

I agree about Peter Jackson. I have never seen Aronofsky and Singh - at least, I cannot remember the names.

As to Tim Buton, let me see:

Edward Scissorhands - Shocking and powerful narrative, making an absurd story perfectly senseful.
Batman - No! I did NOT like it, despite the powerful gothic environment. The narrative is strange, Michael Keaton is a mistake as Bruce Wayne and Jack Nicholson is a mistake as the Joker.
Batman Returns - Here, a magistral narrative in a perfectly characterized gothic city. And Danny de Vito (whom I did NOT like before this film) as the Penguin developed a character nearly impossible in the cinema.
Ed Wood - Simply great!
Mars Attacks - Absurd from the beginning to the end - and that was the idea.
Sleepy Hollow - Again, a gothic atmosphere that is almost cyberpunk.
Planet of the Apes - A masterpiece, no matter what remake-enemies say. The direction of actors is perfect, as only great directors are able to do.
Alice in Wonderland - A continuation of Disney's version. I have never liked Disney's version when I was a kid - I will nit like it now. Carrol's original story is not there. Anyway, the direction of actors, once again, is great.

As to Cameron, do you really consider Avatar anything besides FX? It is simply an intergalactic Pocahontas. If the original one is forgetable…

If we need a good director for BA I think that Quentin Tarantino is the man of course he don't have any experience on SCI-FI movies but at least the final product will be enough violent like the original HFV.
