It's just an internet meme. 8D Usually people make for panel comics introducing a problem or issue only to have the last panel be that face subsequently going "FFUUUUUUU- - - "

Why can't she?
Spoiler:
Now here's the suggestion, mooov, you delete Gally's head, put Svyborgball instead so it won't take month to calculate pictures and make the body do some funny stuff.

I won't do that - she is already brutal and heartless enough.
Also, if I do that, everyone, who sees her, will be instantly turned into shit.

Still, I just want to ask you, how hard is it to make your model do some poses (any poses, i mean, not the ecchi ones)? Since I've never done 3D, is it just bending the clay figure, or is it a rectal neirosurgery?

I've already said, I'm trying to keep as close as possible to the manga - it wasn't there, even the slightest suggestion. Everything else is your imagination.
kamugin wrote:By the way, that skintight "outfit" shouldn't be blue?
I've figured it out not as an outfit, but as a paint layer on the metal. Remember when she changed colors and even made hands transparent in GLOv1? That's it.
Also, if you look at any of the images from the manga, which have not only outlines, but intensity gradations also - you will see that these parts have different shading (last time I've opened the manga, or just looked at any of these images in March, but I still remember it perfectly).
Also, I've done the same in my renderings - paint layer has broader specularity, take a look.

What about it's color - I've tried to make it as close as possible to the originals also.
Take a look:
Spoiler:
The image, which I've sampled the colors from:
kazaana.jpg
Take a look at the hands:
chouhatsu.jpg
And a less important image:
LOskeleton001.jpg
What about the image you're talking about, I've always considered it being an exception:
LOtateken.jpg
If you look at others YK's images, which I'm lazy to insert, you'll see that I've done the colors right.
hepar wrote:And since the blade is made with rare elements it can actually have different color - violet (if i'm correct, Kishiro drew it violet).
It's violet, and the edge is yellow - look closer at them. It's very subtle, but it's there. I just didn't make the colors intense - it was making the blade cartoony.
hepar wrote: Yet still this blade looks very small. It's hard to make it look bigger (since it's an oversized balisong at the first place), though with such resolution it's not that matter. I suddest you to not bother with it now, but review it when you start to make a a full composition.
It's just alone, so there is nothing to compare it's size with. I've modeled it properly to size, length of it's handle equals the length of Alita's hand.
hepar wrote: PS: the last thing, <rus>внутри отверстий, на спинке и на самом-самом лезвии(как ты и сделал) дамасск чистый, без паттерна.</rus> Also i don't suggest to make pattern perpendicular to the cutting edge at the very end - it looks unnatural in a close-ups.
I know it - it's a technical thing, which won't be seen in general (f.e. when she's holding it). [нужно много гемора, чтобы это исправить - я положил]
hepar wrote:Still, I just want to ask you, how hard is it to make your model do some poses (any poses, i mean, not the ecchi ones)? Since I've never done 3D, is it just bending the clay figure, or is it a rectal neirosurgery?
It depends on the model.
Spoiler:
Usually it's done the way like in this article (do not read, just look at some images).

1) The skeleton is created
2) For each bone you have to define an area, which it influences (images with a gradient in the article), thus simulating the muscles. This is the hardest step - loads of ass pain guaranteed, because the joints usually keep collapsing when they bend and it's very buggy by itself.
3) When everything is set up, it's nothing serious - like bending clay model.

What about my case - it's an incredible, terrible nightmare, because she has rings in the elbows and near the knees, which keep shrinking when deformed (I'm trying to make them keep size).
Also, everything works good with organic stuff, which has smooth relief. In my case, she has LOTS of sharp thin lines on her, which get distorted when the body is deformed - that's a giant problem.

[В общем, именно с этой моделькой, это бешеный пездец и жесть плюс тонны жопоболи. Уже второй месяц убиваюсь. ]
What about a test defensive pose, right now I'm rendering this one. However, it's buggy, so I'll have to redo all the skinning again. Aaarrrgh!!!

"As close as possible to the manga", except for her face, right?
it wasn't there, even the slightest suggestion. Everything else is your imagination.
Not quite. Although this image was taken from the HFV vol. 9, not GLO, it is Yukito's first version of her imaginos body:
imaginos.jpg
The body is naked and you can see some "suggestion". You could provide a discret "cameltoe" perhaps(I dislike this expression, but I don't know any other in English). But oh I know you won't do anything like that. Your "angel" is sexless like the ones in Bible =P

Actually this whole topic is rather stupid, I'm sorry to say this so in yor face but this rendering is yours only, you will finish it as you please regardless we may say. You should make it public only after everything is complete. So what you actually want from us before that? Some praises here and there to encourage you to finish your work?

I don't like your initial motivation to do an Alita with a "realistic" face and I think you have failed until now. The face you gave her is ugly and is far from being "realistic" yet. But the body is quite good, its muscles mixed with a female body (forget the "pussy" thing), also the textures and colors.

I don't want to pick another fight with you, so I'll avoid further comments about your tour de force.

Right. Remember, the goal of the whole thing was to make an interpretation of how she could possibly look as a real human.

The key word is HFV. Remember that I'm making an explicitly GLO version (glo 1-9)? There was nothing similar in GLO - you can skim through it, but I'm confident of my memory.

Also, if you want (you're doing everything to shift our discussions into this terminology field) me to explain it to you in biblical terms, I'll say that the last chapters of HFV 9 are an apocrypha, which shouldn't be considered being relevant.

kamugin wrote: Actually this whole topic is rather stupid, I'm sorry to say this so in yor face but this rendering is yours only, you will finish it as you please regardless we may say. kamugin wrote:What I quite not understand is your comments about not "trashing" this topic. So, you open a topic to show your progress.
Now you understand what I've meant by "trashing" the topic. These questions were imminent, if you kept trashing it. Moreover, I've tried to hide as much as possible into spoilers. I wanted to make everything public only after everything is complete and I didn't want any flooding, but you guys kept flooding it with crap like userpic discussion.

Also, you've even stated one of the reasons why I've opened it.

I was publishing the images only when I thought they were complete, but after some time I altered it and published again.

I want nothing from you, especially praises and cheers - I'm just reporting progress. Also, I don't see any reasonable place to post these images to, so I'm posting them here.

Also, these front/back view are complete, so I have published them. Of course, I'm not publishing some phase images, which I'm making right now, because they aren't ready enough yet.

Theoretically, in a perfect case, I should wait a year before releasing any image after it's done to ensure that it's perfect. Unfortunately, I wouldn't want to return to it after a year.

And again, I repeat: I'm just reporting progress, I'm not doing it for any praises. If you think that I'm an ass licker - just go fuck yourself.

kamugin wrote: I don't like your initial motivation to do an Alita with a "realistic" face and I think you have failed until now. The face you gave her is ugly and is far from being "realistic" yet.
You consider it being ugly because you wanted it to be manga-like with huge alien eyes. That would be ugly.
What about the face I've done - it's just lacking mimics and the color is a bit weird. I can't say that I've failed with this.

Anyway, if you don't like it - don't look at it and don't check this topic. I'm not going to feed you any more.

Also:
Spoiler:
You wrote several days ago in this post:
kamugin wrote:Good fanarts have their own worth, although they didn't compare to an original, I woud keep them with pleasure if they are good. Like I'm keeping your Alita's 3D models =)
And now you're writing how much bad and unsuccessful it is and what an asshole I am.

I have only this to tell you then: you're a hypocritical two-faced person, or you're just an extremely fat troll. Choose who you are by yourself.

Also, such a sudden change of your opinion is caused by my answer about the pussy. You just can't stand the answer, which you disagree with.
DISCUSSION CLOSED.

They aren't apocryphal. Yukito wrote and drew them himself. Where they removed from HFV reprints? Only if they where, you can say they are apocryphal.
Now you understand what I've meant by "trashing" the topic. These questions were imminent, if you kept trashing it.
So critics are what you classify as trash, huh?
I wanted to make everything public only after everything is complete and I didn't want any flooding, but you guys kept flooding it with crap like userpic discussion.
Then upload your rendering ONLY after it is FINISHED! I don't think Da Vinci and Picasso exhibited their paints before they were finished. I'm not comparing you to them, of course.
I want nothing from you, especially praises and cheers - I'm just reporting progress. Also, I don't see any reasonable place to post these images to, so I'm posting them here.
Did someone asked you to see your progress? As I said before, there are many forums kept by graphical designers. You could upload your renderings there if you wanted any useful insights. But you can't expect to obtain there as much praises as here. That's why...
Theoretically, in a perfect case, I should wait a year before releasing any image after it's done to ensure that it's perfect. Unfortunately, I wouldn't want to return to it after a year.
With this you endorse what I said, you just want some praises to make you keep going. This is excusable, since you obviously isn't skilled enough to finish your rendering within a reasonable time.
I'm just reporting progress, I'm not doing it for any praises. If you think that I'm an ass licker - just go fuck yourself.
You aren't an "ass licker", you WANT "ass lickers"!
When I expose the real intent behind your nobles speechs, you make resource of personal insults, I see.
You consider it being ugly because you wanted it to be manga-like with huge alien eyes. That would be ugly.
Now you really screwed up! Are you saying Yukito's artwork is ugly? Are you trying to best him? To amend his work??
Any anime and manga fan should be able to appreciate "the huge alien eyes".
What about the face I've done - it's just lacking mimics and the color is a bit weird. I can't say that I've failed with this.
It's too artificial. If you want to do a "realistic" face, don't do a mask or a parody instead. This will hurt you, but I think you are just not skilled enough.
kamugin wrote:Good fanarts have their own worth, although they didn't compare to an original, I woud keep them with pleasure if they are good. Like I'm keeping your Alita's 3D models =)

Yes, I said that. But I also said:
But the body is quite good, its muscles mixed with a female body, also the textures and colors.
I never said that everithing you did until now isn't good. I don't like the face you put on her, but the overall work is good and deserve some praise. This is why I keep your renderings.
Also, such a sudden change of your opinion is caused by my answer about the pussy. You just can't stand the answer, which you disagree with.
My comments about a "pussy", or rather the lack of it, were just to piss you a bit since I know very well how susceptible you are to this subject. I really don't care if you don't give her a pussy or even if you prefer to provide her with a penis, it's all up to you, bro.
DISCUSSION CLOSED.
Not quite. After so many insults you should expect an aswer. But this time I was cool enough to not make use of them.

Yes, actually. YK re-released the Complete Edition in 6 volumes without the old ending to make it fit to GLO. Anyway, I, too, hate trashing this topic with pointless troll discussions. Why don't you just cut it out and let us witness the progress.

I've redone the skinning one more time. It's still buggy, but, at least, a lot less, than the previous time.
Anyway, there are no more major deformation errors.

I've loaded the skeleton with some karate motion capture data I've found on the torrent and done a hair dynamics simulation.
It's animatable now (with some limitations, but generally it is), so only mimics are left to be done.

The images are heavy, so they will load quite a while.
