I agree the title say's Gary's provocation, but simply because the one who was responsible for it made the confusion.

If you proceed the reading, the line 4 says: Gally put on the jacket of a difference color in the story. Also known as it is player 2 color.
That said, the confusion is simply end exactly a provocation.

Absolutely correct Sergio. It was just one of those days where I had nothing better to do.

As silly changing status from a lurker to an user because of this topic as it probably is, I'm surprised nobody brought up the theory that Gally is short for Galatea (and I'm pretty sure that's the case).

Ido wasn't in love with Gally (at least not the romantic kind of love), but I see parallels here: Gally is strong and pretty, just like a beatiful sculpture made from stone. She wasn't brought to life by a goddess, but one may say that she was revived by Ido. The American version may support this theory - isn't "Alita" the Arabian name for goddess Venus? And it was Venus who gave life to Pygmalion's sculpture. And Gally as a (male) cat's name? Yukito does like him some puns sometimes, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was actually a play on Japanese L vs. R dilemma - "Gally" (Galatea) being a female name, and - let's say - "Garry" being said male cat's name.

Sometimes being "Off Topic" can be the most informative, if not challenging.
After all, Japanese is the tertiary language of study and the detail of the discussion actually earned extra credit in my studies.
So it is also beneficial.

I will admit I was holding Sergio's feet to the fire when it came to proper use of the Japanese language.
But the whole point of that discussion was something that Sergio and I both know.
There are times when there is no true and honest translation and only knowing the language itself allows for the correct interpretation.
You must observe the context of the sentence.
For example there is a very defined order of Honorific's used in Japanese, when used improperly it can be an insult.
I know Sergio is a well educated person as he is able to converse in Portugese and English (um complemento a meu amigo)
He even admonished me once for being lazy about proper grammar and spelling.
He was right of course, and I knew better. Make proper use of your education or you are wasting a precious gift

So after all that I too want to say WELCOME
An alternate point of view always brings a fresh perspective on how you see the world.

In Portuguese you have: comprimento (length) and cumprimento (compliment). As you are aware, in languages like Portuguese (concerto/conserto, descrição/discrição) and English (reign/rain, hair/hare), a single letter can make a scandalous difference.
