I just think it's not my place to ask someone to translate something for a group I'm not even part of. Not if I haven't been asked by an admin of that group to do it.
I'm a scanlator myself and I have the raw, so if I had asked him I would've most likely scanlated it myself.
But I have a lot of respect for the work that you guys are doing in bringing us this great manga in such a good quality. And I would've probably also done the borders and bubbels. So it would've looked different than the other releases and I like it better when everythings looks the same. Plus I have things to do myself.
So I did the next best thing in my opinion and told you to ask him.

@Sergio: Why should I i.e. ask cnet128 for a translation of Biomega, when I'm not in "EvilGenius"? EG has its own translators and who am I to interfere with the scanlation, the work of people I dont know?
Thats the way Feanor meant it I think.
oops, he himself was faster than I
Does cnet128 translates seinen too? Cause its much harder than shonen like OP or Naruto. I found his thread on MH (
http://tinyurl.com/56emtl) but there is nothing about it. He says he's a perfectionist, though

Now, lets gather all the rice we have and go ask the 7 translators!

I can agree with your words.
I cannot agree with the way he asked the question. It sounded rude, simply.
Anyway, perhaps I am exaggeratedly polite.

Sorry if it sounded rude. It wasn't intended that way.
Don't know if he does Seinen. I figured asking him can't hurt. He either does it or not (for whatever reasons).
I wouldn't know if Seinen are harder to do than Shonen. But I think Alita is sometimes harder to do, because it's very technical at times.
And I think it's easier to translate it (or any series) if you do it regularly, because you know the material better. But with a good proofreader that knows the series well can make up for that.
I really hope he does it. And that the regualr translator get's back asap, because I doubt that cnet will do it regularly (unless he is a fan of the series).

Going to ask him tomorrow. Thanks for the tip Feanor
Feanor: What group are you working with?

by Feanor
None. I'm releasing my works under the name of HAO but I'm not a member.
There was no scanlation of Spriggan even though it was finished over ten years ago. I can't translate japanese but I own the series in german, so I decided to translate them and scanlate the series.
And I thought it's better to do it for a group, so that there is a backup of the file. HAO was the first of the groups that asked me to do it for them, plus they gave me the raws, so I do it under their name.
And if I want to do something else like Dragon Ball in hq (it's a shame that there is only a lq scanlation), I ask them if they also want to slap their name on that.

I've been there. And even your profile lists sleeping as your interest, so I should've known *gg*
I don't have much experience with getting a translation or Translator. But I know that mangahelpers has a corner for it. You could put up a request to translate BAA there. That way everyone can read it and maybe you'll find a willing translator.

I asked him, but I didn't get any reply

Have tried to search translators before on Mangahelpers. I had no luck back then. Should maybe give it another try.

Oh, so he hasn't replied and said no yet.
Did you just ask him or did you also already send him the chapter?
If it's the latter it could very well be that when he replies you'll get the finished translation (that's how it went when I asked him).
If you've already send him the raw I'd wait a bit more before giving it another try on mangahelpers with a general request. I mean this is a great series and there must be a way to get a new translator.
You can spend the waiting period by sending your regular translator death threats *gg*

No life signs of kamui04 or cnet128 yet? That's not good...
Why is it, that GLO has so much problems with translators? I.e. Strays put up a request for a new translator and got one
two minutes later, so they say at least,
http://strays.vnmanga.com/2008/09/03/news-brief-2/
GLO can't be
that unpopular among translators...

it's just one of the most difficult manga to translate.

yea .. its quite troublesome to translate GLO..
Remamber just Great Karate War with all those references and this chart which shows how karate evolved .. not to mantion pain-in-the-ass-physic words ... or terms.. Not to mention some Chainise-phrased hit things .. guaaahh..
Lets hope Kamui remeber about us ...

german words, technological references, made up words ...
one can't translate a GLO chapter if not used to its content. a friend of mine who learned japanese for 4 years told me it's very very difficult to figure what the hell is going on.
just remember how we have to proofread several times to get all the content (venusian french words, jupiter russian words, panzer german words ...)

I guess it's save to say that you won't get a translation from carlosnet.
What to do. As I said you can try posting in the
Translator Recruitment Ads section on mangahelpers and make a new thread about it. No idea how often every given translator vistits that section or if they do at all, but it's worth a try.
A few tips I found regarding that:
- make the subject clear so that people will know immediatly what it's about (like "translator needed for Battle Angel Alita/Gunnm: Last Order")
- ask politely with proper spelling and grammar
- tell them why you want a translation (tell them your regualr translator dropped of the face of the earth and that there are already several raws out)
- include informations about the series so that translators will know what it is about (wiki should easily provide those)
- tell them how long you're already doing it, so that they'll know that you won't just stop doing or switch the series all time.
- include a sample of your previous work, so that they can see your editing skills
- include a raw sample of the manga (or maybe even a volume) so that translators could read it and see if they like it.
- have patience
I've recently joined the scanlators social group on stoptazmo.com. I'll ask if there is a willing translator there.
The only other thing besides those two I can think of is getting the translation on commission. Although I personally hate the idea of paying someone to do it (appart from the amount of money you have to pay those guys).

I hope the search for a translator has good results and I pray for the safety of Kamui *lights an incense stick* namu amida butsu!!

If it helps move things along, I'll give it a shot.
I studied Japanese for 9 years, am familiar with multiple dialects, cold war era history and politics, and physics theory (electrodynamics mostly). I'd be willing to try GLO translation if you point me in the direction of a DDL RAW of ch80, though I'm bound to be a bit rusty.
