I had been thinking for a while that the "Mars Treasure" ends up being what turns people into necrosoldiers. I nice tying of things up.
But thinking more about it,it seems less likely. Erica and Yoko have to be brought back together, and then to the Panzer Kunst school. And the whole necrosoldier thing comes about after Alita goes on her mission.
And we have to have the big reveal about Alita's connections with Cydonia before they join Panzer Kunst. So the timing is just wrong. So it's either going to be another wrinkle, or a McGuffin.

Whatever. I'm still waiting for Gunnm to become involving again, meanwhile I hope the movie turns out to be at least a little good.
