I wonder if anyone notice if yukito purposely made these death happen during snow specifically, as snow represents sadness, bleakness and death itself. It makes me wonder if that was the approach he was going just a thought that struck me now recently

Probably, though I also think that dude just really like snow/snowy settings and he's damn good at portraying them (see LO vampire arc's atmosphere).

I'm afraid we saw death in all whether conditions on Mars Chronicle. I think is more for chronology and timetable. This is supposed to happen after the Master got to move all the solar panel from that country he hated that much. We know with the weather where we are on Mars.

That's obviously not possible since they are cyborgs (will be, in the case of Erica).

For quite some time I have been wondering if it will ever be possible to replace an entire human body for a machine and I reached the conclusion that it is quite unlikely. The brain needs feedback from the body to works properly, more notably the sense of tact from the skin. The hormones released by the glands also affect the brain's function (what replaces adrenaline rush when they are about to fight?) and recent discoveries tell us that even bacteria inside our digestive system release hormones that influence brain function too. Perhaps a body as sophisticated as the imaginos body could provide all of that, but not the cheap cyborg bodies that we see everywhere during the series. In addition I remember Robocop 2 movie, when they are building a cyborg, they saved the eyes and spinal cord too since they are extensions of the brain.

Of course it's not possible, that's what makes it science fiction.

But as a metter of fiction, and since all cyborgs eat we can presume the brain inside the skull shell somehow is immersed in some kind of fluid that syntetize all it need from food. Stretched but works. Actually brainchips make more sense, provided that intelligence actually is an algorithmic process.

I wasn't talking about food, I was talking about the complex and yet not completely understood relationship between the body and the brain. Hormones and multiple sensorial feedback are needed to sustain proper brain function. Puberty is an especially complex phase when the body changes behavior characteristics. Even with a synthetic brain, I can't figure how it could hold a complex human mind. AI is possible, however it will be something a lot different from an actual person.

I remember that, yeah it seems he is good at drawing snow maybe because his name actually has the word "Yuki" meaning snow in japanese

We could imagine there is some sort of "emulation" of those hormones, and for everything needed for the brain. Sense of touch is already getting done nowadays (or at least something that acts the same way) on amputees. If the technology to easily transplant a brain in a machine body (as seen several times in the manga, like when Koyomi meets Kaos in LO ) exists, I can only guess that some systems have been integrated to provide all those missing neural signals.

Also, it seems that most space-dwelling cyborgs (like Zekka or Zechs, but most likely many others) are rather "artificial bodies" than "machines". I mean by that that they have a circulatory system, and probably other systems that make them more like Humans made of a different matter than flesh, instead of a brain in a moving metal case

Then again, nothing about that is said in here, so it's just all guesses here.

Yes, i got your point. But, semplified to the essentials, that means that there are a collection of chemicals that flow into the brain from certain channels and a collection of chemicals that flow out of the brain from other channels. If you assume to be able to syntetize somewhere in a cyborg body every single chemical that is supposed to be injected sometime in the brain and to transport it to the brain where and when it is supposed to arrive, then the system works.

Actually that's pretty much how our phisiology works.

Then of course it's very (very, very) unlikely that a crude cyborg body like those of scrapyard contains such a fine tecnology to feed chemicals at microscopic level to a human brain. But that's why it's science fiction. Good science fiction keeps in contact with the reality, but it's not actual working science.
