Do you really think he would need to speak/read English himself?
Have you never heard about assessors?

What do you mean? Do you think he has a person, who translates for him? o_0
If he has, it is still quite unprobable that this person translates this forum, or any other. (he may have lots of important things to do besides it)

I do not say that someone would translate everything, but certainly would inform about what seems important. Or do you really believe Shueisha is not interested about what readers think?
If this forum is not important because
he may have lots of important things to do besides it, as you say, I would like you to give me an idea of what is more important to the artist than a forum whose most important theme is exactly the artist's work.

2 Sergio:
Readers' opinion is certainly important to an author, but, I think, not this way.
As you can notice, this is a forum of BBA _FANS_. Most authors are not interested in pink tears of worshiping their work (only to feel more important for themselves and please themselves).
Normal authors are interested in reading criticism of their work to improve it (and themselves) and correct mistakes. As you can see, there is no (or very few) criticism about BAA here, everyone adores it.
So, the only point of reading this forum for him is to think "YESSS!!! I'm a GOD!!! I own their minds!!!

", maybe to get some thoughts or feedback about storyline and lead it right course. Nothing more.
Also, I think, if this person does read this forum, he just gives Kishiro something like a summary of it. Nothing particular.

for aught we know Yukito Kishiro doesn't know English, but we don't know whether it is the case of his brother Tsutomu with whom he works. After all there is an English version of his site so he may have contact with people who are able transmit him as Int 29Ah summaries and feedback.
I don't think that someone like Kishiro who is so interested in technologies (present and future would leave such an important medium of communication as this). Furthermore this forum is quite peculiar given that as Sergio said it represents a certain "elite" in the sense that we are all a big bunch of core fans from all over the world, looking into every into every hint, reference. not quite your average forum.

My friend at college said that Wizard magazine posted an article on "Battle Angel". Supposedly, they reported that "Battle Angel" is now called AVATAR and that he saw concept art of some weird alien chick.
He also said WM reported that since Cameron has the rights to the movie(s?), it/they would not follow the manga very closely!
Anyone else hear of this? I don't know what issue it was, but it must have been recent. I couldn't find any info on the WM website, but the layout is awful!!! It comes up with the same articles in the search engine no matter what you type in!
This would be scary!

Can you provide us with magazine's month/number? Maybe we'll be able to find it in PDF form.

Unfortunately, I can't =/ But i did some googling myself, and I did find an article that said the first movie would be based on the first 3 novels, and if it were a hit, it there would be 2 more.
From here
http://pwbeat.publishersweekly.com/blog ... tle-angel/
“We’re going to do ‘Avatar’ first, and we’re in active pre-production on it right now,” he added. “I’m directing it; I’m directing all these films.
“And with ‘Battle Angel,’ also, we’ll do the same thing,” Cameron said of his second project, a sci-fi thriller about a female cyborg in the 26th century. ” ‘Battle Angel’ is actually designed as a three-film cycle. So the logic there is to make one and, if it hits, boom-boom on the other two.”
“If you want to know more about ‘Battle Angel,’ you can get the graphic novels,” the director said of his source material. “There’s a series of 10 graphic novels, the original 10, by a Japanese artist named [Yukito] Kishiro.”
The tech-minded Cameron added that although he watched with great interest as “Sin City” filmmaker Robert Rodriguez reinvented the graphic-novel movie with his green-screen breakthroughs, “Angel” won’t be such a slave to the colored page. “It’ll be a cinematic style; it won’t be a moving graphic novel,” he revealed. “I think what Robert did with ‘Sin City’ was a spectacular visual experiment; I think it worked brilliantly, but that’s not what I’m going for. It’s more of a cinematic, photo-real feel.”
I don't know what he's talking about with the "10" novels from the original, but it's nice to know it might be a trilogy.
Sorry I posted so quickly on the Wizard Magazine story, I have no reason to think my buddy would lie about it. Maybe it was just a misreading on his part?
Again, I apologize

well seems to work that way nowadays one to test if the public is receptive and then two in a row. Let's just hope that it will be better than the dragon ball movie shouldn't be too hard though. I haven't seen it yet and almost had a nervous breakdown watching the trailer. let's hope the first trailers will not make us lose hope in a few seconds.
Cameron you'd better make a great movie!!!!

Wasn't it a guy from this forum who helped the brothers with their English page? I think it was a former translator here - but quitted after helping the brothers. It would have been too mean to help the author and the pirates

I don't think that work of Ripper and his team is piracy. More particular, it is an enthusiast translation. Also, they usually release sooner, than official source.
Moreover, it is FREE, no one charges you. Everyone can download it and enjoy. Free manga, free software, free speech... some kind of GNU/Linux ideology here, as you may notice. =)))

If you put philosophy by the side - we are stealing the content of the author

. Its your own decision what you do or not. I forgot the name of the former translator who helped with the English part of the homepage. But he thought it would be wrong. So just leave him

Were this work not important, this site would have already been closed. Remember it is housed in the United States, not in Korea, so it would be easy. The fact is: neither Kishiro nor Shueisha have ever complained about it.
Besides, this site is frequented by fans, and we are all recommended to buy the printed version when available. As far as I have noticed, many members of this forum have French, German, American or even Japanese version (my case, as there is no Brazilian edition of Last Order, although I cannot read Japanese).
So, this site is not simply ordinary piracy. It is more something like free publicity.

I think his brother is the one that speaks english and makes the translations for the english site.
I would like to know if the movie is ever gonna happen, I told myself I will go to the movies cosplaying Gally (

although I will have to exercise hard for a while to look decent enough in such a tight outfit).

Cosplay in the cinema... Not big deal... after Matrix, Star wars 1-2-3 [ughh], and L.O.T.R., the Cosplay fans in Chile lost the shame so... Not big deal.

Deckman: Just not tight enough to NOT be embarrased in such a tight suit.
Int29Ah: I don't see the big deal. I'm already used to the stares and screaming since I'm into lolita fashion.

Hum, Lolita?
Old Nova here is really becoming interested. Haven't you got a photo? Preferably already characterized, please.

One of the older translators here where helping the brother. Thats a fact not a theory:
Look, I'm sorry about disappearing, and my life being in total upheaval, but basically... I've sort of fallen out of love with BAA. I just don't want to spend a ton of time translating something I don't think is that good anymore.
...
Sorry to rant about it, but I have been really disappointed by all the Last Order stuff, and I'm not motivated to continue translating. I'll post summaries of the chapters, but honestly, if you guys love it so much, you should be buying it. I do, and I don't even like the series that much. Hell, I have three copies of some of this stuff. The Ultra Jump, the Japanese tankobon, and the US graphic novel. Having the sneak preview of the raws with a summary is more than enough. I feel awful and two-faced when I email the Kishiros with a translation question, then turn around and help scanslate it and take money out of their pockets -- when they have been obsequiously nice to me and everyone who has a question.
Anyways, yeah, hope you all the best, but I don't think I can continue on with this (as I said when I first joined, I may leave at any point).
