^Ripper's Anime Page

I've been checking Yukito's page every day in order to look for volume 13 cover (and also Ultra Jump) in the crude version - that is, without texts.
It has never taken so long, Oh! Lord!

I don't know if I like this cover or hate it.
Its kinda funny, but it feels too shounen about it. I want my gunnm to return as a very dark dystrophy again and not so much fighting.
I hope Yukito changes it back after ZOTT.

Really... ok Kishiro likes Heavy Metal, I think that's obvious. But to put it on a cover, hm, I don't know I don't know. Not my cup of tea, even more because I don't especially like the Karate Allies. (I'll buy it nonetheless^^)
With the next one, that makes two covers in a row that were only so-so and frankly, the covers for 11 and 12 weren't that great either (imo). Where are the really cool covers, like 1, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10?

Oh and speaking of covers, Why isn't Kishiro doing an artbook? I have tens of millions of $$$ in my desk, only saved to buy such a thing (not.^^ But I would try to get a hand on it somehow). Every artist with decent drawings has (an) artbook(s), only Kishoro does not.

...Kishiro isnt "every Artist", he's THE MAN!

Honestly, i would aswell love nothing more than a Artbook from Kishiro...especially Roughs and early Concepts are allways something i could stare at for hours.

And if i remember right, wasnt that cover included as a poster somwhere else aswell?

All right, let's pretend: as BAA is already close to the end, after the last volume Kishiro will certainly publish his art book.

(if you don't know it already, that is.) Its a "sort of" artbook found in the Complete Edition and like I said, with many scetches and more.

But I meant a real artbook, with full color pictures never seen before, drawn exclusively for this book. I'm drooling with only the thought in my head.

Ok, so what do you say guys. It seems our master ^Ripper has disappeared and while I doubt that he will be gone forever, we don't know how long he will be away.
Is there a chance that we can pull off this volume release all by ourselvs? We have the raw, we have a decent script for the chapters, we have an editor, we have proofreaders and we have stupid grunts like me who can do some dirty work like general quality checking or re-naming some files.

It should all be doable - or did I forget some obstacles? Or, maybe some of you already has news about our master's whereabouts..?

Well, we need someone to join the phases, renumber them, add the intermediary pages, make the last quality-checking, and it is done. If it is the case, I can upload the intermediary pages, again.

(I am about to receive volume 14 from my Japanese store. Actually, it should have already arrived, but it is late. Thus, ^Ripper is scandalously late, and we have to start thinking about the new volume urgently!!)

Give me the trad. of last double-page [Bigorne and Chicheface] and I can edit it.

I had sent these pages to ^Ripper on August 21.
Would TargaryenX take care of the last page?
Obviously, there is always the option of leaving them in Japanese.

@Sergio: I very much appreciate you buying and scanning the extra pages! But I think the scan I found has a slightly better quality. Just compare a close up at 200%: left is yours, right is the korean edition I found. The pixels. I don't think it's because of your scan, more likely it's because of the compression that happens sometimes when the pic is saved as a jgp.

They still need to be cut our from the double page but that requires no skill in photoshop of course, I could do that.
We should take your version of the cover, though, so that we have japanese signs on it, not korean. (oh god, we are so picky!^^)

Hm yeah it would be cool if our new hero TargaryenX could do this. Otherwise we'd have to leave it out and someone can re-translate it later from his edition.


@ page names:
Apparetly it always goes like this:

That's just a stupid job at the end but doable overall

I'd say re-naming should be the last thing before the final quality check. First we need
- a cleaned and then newly typesetted index (I can try cleaning but I can't ever typeset it! Crazy?)
- all other extra pages properly cleaned (I will try, or maybe Lemonlol or FadedDreams, are you guys reading here?
- *extrahyperbonus* a translation (and correction) of the Explanation page
- then the re-naming
- then quality checking

Did I forget a step? (And, I could start not before the upcoming holidays.)

It is all right to me.
I think we must opt for the best solution possible.

Sergio's scans are ok. And it's in japanese . If you have Photoshop, open Sergio's scan (the page with... err... "the girl" on it). Open the "Levels" menu ("Image -> Adjustements -> Levels..." or Ctrl+L).

Just below the graphic, you can input 3 numbers. Put theses :

• 53 : 1.00 : 228 for a decent attenuation of the JPEG's noise.
• 72 : 1.00 : 213 for overburnt lines, like the korean raw.

This way you can have 1) almost no noise, 2) no burnt lines, 3) japanese writings. Sounds good ?

Or, maybe Sergio can rescan the pages ? If so, save the pages in "Grayscale" ("Image -> Mode -> Grayscale" in Photoshop), JPEG, 100% quality, and you have everything you could wish for .

As for the editing... It shouldn't be a problem, as soon as you're decided for which raw to use .

To get to the point, i have done little to nothing for volume 13.
Yes yes crusify me for that i know.
Priority's, personal time, game addictions, lack of interest... fill it all in.
I won't bother with a lengthy explanation.

Anyway...

There's this 3 week 'vacation' where i have ALOT of spare time.
I really want to make this volume 13 release see daylight.
I can work on it FINALLY!

Now i don't know how much you guys have done in my absense.
But i have most PSD files of the edits, so i can put it together.
Edit the filenames/pages/phase numbering.

I'l wait a bit before doing possible double work.
From today i'l be more online and also doing stuff on the website itself.
The emailbox of mine is a bit...ehm full.

I see crazyankan make new releases, so i have to add those to the site also...
I havent even READ them yet O_O

Second, @^ripper: Great to see you back! No need to explain. ... it was "life". period.^^

Uhm, at least I for one have high ambitions but suck at photoshop xD I tried some cleaning of the extra pages but in the end I think I cant meet our high standards...
But of course I'm always willing to do the last quality check.

And I rememberd that I've forgotten one important step: we have our better scripts for a couple of chapters, done in the retranslation jap-french-engl. How much of extra work would it be to insert those? Or would this all be too complicated?

I took the liberty to translate some of the pages. For the double page with Chicheface and Bigorne, there is 2 layers, for translated/untranslated version, whichever you want to release.

Just in case, it MAY be useful to check my translations with the translation script... You know what I mean, Crazyankan...
