First a tail, and now wings?

I liked her more when her complexity was rooted in her character, not her design...

Here is me hoping her brain inside the incubator is not forgotten; far sleeker design and personality when she (belived she) had it.

In any case, badass damascus wings are badass.

Battle Angel Alita. It has been in the title all the time.

But the Japanese name is Gunnm 銃夢 Ganmu, a portmanteau of "Gun" and the Japanese word for "Dream"

In the first volume of HFV, there is an image of a winged Alita. HFV volume 1 is also entitled Rusty Angel. Probably after that Viz decided to name all the volumes Angel. Also, there has also been an Alita winged figure in the market.

I had initially seen the winged Alita as a poetic license, but there is the possibility that Kishiro was considering that from the beginning (or has he decided that after all his different creations in Gunnm universe?).

Wow it's been a long time since I had time to post in the forum, I thought this was the occasion.
It's so good to see the series start again with another body destruction, reminds me of the topic I started when I first joined the forum.
Of course I like the new chapter, but Alita'as new form disturbs me a bit, are the wings a simple reference to the illustrations of the beginning of the series or are they gonna stay? I can hardly see them as battle friendly though they are made of Damascus blades. They would look awkward in a fight wouldn't they? Maybe they are a symbol of Alita reaching a godlike level, and of the conceit derived from it? In that case, I can only see her losing her wings, being shattered later in the story, turning her back into a human again.

I'm sorry I haven't been able to help with the translations for a long time, I have started working as a teacher this year, and am busy all the time.Tell me Sergio as a fellow teacher does it ever get better? I am yearning to help but there is always something to do, fortunately I'll be able to translate a bit more during the the easter holidays.

@Litchi: Like the arm-blades, the wings use material from her breasts. Now Imagine her cup size when she draws in those wings.^^ hahaha
No seriously, ood question. I more think of the ZOTT as being pretty much over now, with Alita simply owning everybody and everything, including Zekka. I mean, she defeated Zeus in the blink of an eye and was just reborn stronger yet again. I'm more asking myself what's left of her humanity now.

The closest appearance of Alita with wings in BAA was when Zapan tried to absorb her with the Berserker Body and formed a pair to break her fall before finally dying. The original cover of Angel of Redemption refers to this.

The upgrades in bodies (2nd civilian->TUNED->Imaginos->Imaginos 2.0->this winged version) seem to be a response to greater challenges, but what I would like to see is more memories of Panzer Kunst and Alita's past return. However it also takes similar occurrences to events in her past to trigger these, so those need to happen too. :|

Maybe instead of Battle Angel the title should have been Angel Cat or Cat Angel, since the character is moving in that direction.

What makes you sure that she defeated Zeus? It could have given her the new body for all we know.

Her new wings means that now she is one of the Saints of Gold!

Being serious now. If there wasn't the well known quarrel with Shueisha, I think Yukito didn't intended to create a new reborn just after she was destroyed, he would torture us at least three chapters before her apotheotic awakening. So perhaps he precipitate the things to create a metaphor of his manga "being reborn" in a new magazine, a special thing suited to this new restart.

Apart from that conjecture, I have another: when Taraba saw Alita the first time he perceived she already reached a whole new level. And even before that Vilma didn't killed Alita because she saw that Alita had an "unlimited potential". I'm anticipating that Zekka will realize Alita is the first opponent worth of receiving his "full Dragon Slayer combo". Zekka's fight with Don Fua shook the whole orbital elevator, destroying the Onion Frame and snapped one of Tiphares giant cables. At that time he hadn't developed the "dragon slayer" yet. So what kind of destruction his fight with Alita can do?!?

Zekka previously had no interest in Alita whatsoever though. Unless her bust size grew as well as a result of this new upgrade.

I was trying to do a joke with Saint Seiya's gold knights (some of them have wings, you know), but doing a fast research I couldn't discover how exactly they are referred in the English version, so I've opted for "Saints of Gold", but it also could be "Golden Saints". A loose translation is "golden knights". Either way it was a bad joke, sorry.

Actually it's not a bad joke and I'm surprised to see that Sergio don't get it because I read that Saint Seiya (or Knights of the Zodiac) is really popular in Brasil :P

It was not a bad joke. The only problem is that I am completely ignorant of Saint Seiya (thanks God).

It is really popular in Brazil (probably, everywhere), but Michael Jackson, Steven Seagal, Justin Bieber, Sylvester Stallone, and Madonna have always been popular and I am not interested. Saint Seiya sounds to me as a complete waste of time for pre-teens.

Sainta Seiya wasn't that bad. When the series started here, 1994, we was in an absolute lack of animes of any kind in Brazilian TV (a fucking shit) for almost a decade. So they were a huge hit among the Brazilians. I was above 20 but I really liked the show, a bit later I watched Sailor Moon with equal enthusiasm (bigger to say the truth). So we can say that Saint Seiya was the mark of the anime and manga explosion here in Pindorama. Something for us, the ones who didn't like football, carnival and TV soap operas.

Today I have no attachment to Saint Seiya, I even discovered it is a plagiarism of Hokuto no Ken in many ways.

Saint Seiya is only popular on south american countries, Europe I don't know, USA cancelled the anime and manga many times, even in Japan is not well recived. The series wasnt as bad but it's been a while since I watched it the last time, and actually that was the first anime I saw in my life (kids loves blood, yup) But oh well, it's a matter of tastes, in my case it brings me too much nostalgia that's all. I watched Sailor Moon too by the way

Sorry for the off-topic.
