From what I could translate using google, a new Gunnm serie should start in the middle of next year with the word "Mars" in it! (Guren should be able to give us a more accurate version of it)

So it was indeed the end of the Last Order to be continued to some Mars memories or so!!

YK giving himself a few months off. Given the turn of the story to the Gally Quest arc he likely had all this planned out after thinking about his true ending for years. Let's all send him good vibes to stay healthy and not get pissed off by Kodansha so he gets to finish the series the way he always wanted to.

My real worry is who is going to be the enemy, I mean Alita (cip) has UBER-POWER . Who would ever attack her? Super nova maybe . but what weapon or Cybor / Android . to be able to be a challange for her. She is teorically invinseble. You break her she reconstract , and now she has 2 quantum computer to help her. And I suppose the support of Jupiter ,Heart and Mars . Plus she may own our planet .

My point is exept for Super nova with Crazy monster ( to close to old story ) , who else is going to be the enemy ???????

Considering that Kishiro is not eternal either, prolonging the story ad eternum is not exactly a good idea.

If he is still pulling things out of his ass at this point, we are doomed. True that he was ill when the original series wrapped up but he's had plenty of time to think about where he wants the series to go, the chapters come out monthly, and there was that year break because of the issues with Shueisha.

I just read new news regarding Alita. The last chapter of this series will be on 23 April. While the new series the last of the Alita will start in Summer .

Last chapter or last volume of the series? And where is it supposed to come out on April 23rd? Japan? Italy (the website you refer to is in Italian)? The US?

...nope.
Final chapter should be out this week.
Final volume will be published on 4/23.

In Italy we're getting the second half of v18 in february.
Last Order is one of the very very few manga that are still published in "halves" here,
together with Berserk, Nana, Evangelion and Saint Seiya Episode G.
