I don't like to again go back to a subject that was messy since the beginning, however I can't help since Alita said "to return it to a live being". Discarding translation problems since I can't go to the original, are the "necro soldiers" dead? They died once and then were resurrected thanks to the wonders of nano-medicine, with something like a "back door" in their brains though, or so I thought. Now Alita is saying that Erica is dead now? I.E. is she in a state of death? What the hell Yukito! First vampires now damn zombies?! Give us a break!

1. I liked the vampires. :)
2. How far is someone really "alive" if his free will is in someone else's hands?

Well, the vampire arc gave us one of the best characters of the whole saga Caerula/Vilma. However I hope that the troublesome "necro soldiers" aren't some kind of concession to the zombie fad.
I'm sure that Alita was being more literal than philosophical or at least the translation made us think that way.

Its not that original reviving the dead body with nanotech.

Star Trek Voyager has an episode where Neelix dies and gets restored using Borg nanotechnology.
His cells were already past the state of possible normal revival and can only survive now with the Borg Nano's.
This without the mind-altering thing, but that could be easely done.

I tought I watched all the episodes, I missed that one or I can't remember it. The state you described is unreasonable. The way I conceive the procedure is like this: in a context where cloning and nanomachines are trivial matter, a person can only be considered "dead" when every and all of his cells are destroyed, all DNA record to be more precise. It makes me remember "The Fifth Element" when of the "survivor" of a spaceship that was destroyed in an attack, only the left hand remained  How to recover the memories and personality of that person is another issue, some of the brain must be preserved (the movie didn't give an explanation about that). Nova was able to restore all of Alita's personality with just a bit of her brain. Although I think that this is stretching the things a bit too far. So new cells can be made out of dying ones, a whole new body in fact, this without resorting to the "cyborgization" of the subject, procedure that by itself is another way to revive a dead person. In face of all of this, the procedure you described, keeping "dead" cells alive with the aid of nanomachines is unreasonable, I.E. why not clone that cells in the first place? It would be easier. Star Trek is full of nonsense, this is just another one of them.

Well. Are we forgetting that our own Gally was blown up to pieces by a bomb at the end of the Granite Inn arc, and was rebuilt (in 2 distinct istances) from a fragment of her original brain by Nova? It looks pretty "necro" or "zombie" to me :)

The way it is put, a necro soldier is an instrument under someone else's control, while Alita/Gally was resurrected, simply.
As to zombies, if you are based on the Walking Dead trend, it is a waste of time to compare.

I meant, any form of resurrection in Gunnm shouldn't bother us. It is a state of art event. (Poor Jugo, if u only knew Nova..) :P

Should be put in a log12 thread on the forum don't you think?

Maybe we should adopt a short name for Gunnm mars chronicles such as this brillant one: GMC :geek:
Would make the thread titles much shorter and easier to read when looking for a log chapter.

Creating a new thread for chapter 12 without chapter 12 would be misleading. This is just a preview Image
