She is powerful,... and power corrupts.
She is maybe a member of the Neo-nazi faction, she certainly don't belong to the Venusian or Jupiterian faction, and certainly not affiliated with the Martian Royal faction. That could make sense, after the destruction of the panzer kunst colonies, Erika find herself disillusioned and, maybe, weak. Out of revenge or just hate, she join the Neo-nazi to simply kill everyone on sight and restore the Panzer Kunst.
That or she is just going solo >.<

Well, maybe the Punzer Kunst colonies where on neo-nazi faction in the first place. Don't forget Punzer Kunst was a secessionist terrorist orginization who planned to destroy Ladder in order to extablish full inedependence of all planets

Zyk was a mercenary, but he was also employed by Mbadi. Everyone has an agenda.

Sorry to break your hopes... but this girl is not right for you, man. She is too wild and CRAZY, you need a girl with which you can settle down, you should check Saya! (The japanesse judoka in the Nurse team)
As one of my friends said one time: "I would not hit that, cos I know she can hit back!"

I'm pretty certain Erica's gone over to the Neo-Nazis
What I'm interested in is at what point she inflicted that Hertza-Dim Mak on Zazie. She seems to have mastered the technique to the point that she can cause someone to resonate and die slowly/at a preset time. AND act as a deathtrap (that nearly got the cyber-assistant).
Could be that she put that effect on Zazie so she'd seek out Alita for her. Sure seems that way.

I think so too, the technique Erika used must have some kind of effect on the effected persons brain, basicly forcing it into creating a shockwave energy which is then released on purpose. Also effecting the persons senses so they've got confused and touch someone or something for support when losing balance.
Hmm, I wonder if Erika was in the same special operations Kammer as Yoko? Since the Panzerkunst guy (forgot his name) Gally encountered in volume 7 talked a lot about the nasty versions of the Panzerkunst and the technic of Erika clearly fit's into that type of fighting.
Come to think of it, i wonder if there was some kind of rift among the Panzer Künstler? For example, one group saw Panzerkunst as a direct encounter style of fighting, killing your opponent direct and swift, while the other thought Panzerkunst should be used with psychological warfare in mind, using it to all kinds of nasty effects to kill your enemy physical and mental.
Since what those covert ops Panzer Künstler developed does not fit into what the original creator of the Kunst had in mind (we saw him in Volume 9).
Oh damn, what if there WAS a rift? What if Yoko's and Erikas teacher was in the "direct approach" group? What if Yoko was ordered to kill Gerda?
Seems to me as if there could still be a lot of dark secrets in Yoko`s history.

There has been a good 200 years since the destruction of Grunthal. Plenty of time for Panzer Kunst to develop into numerous sub-styles. And we know that no Kunstler is considered really proficient until they've developed at least one unique move...
Alita is pulling certain moves out of "thin air" (and I have my theories about that), but Erica has had a solid two centuries of Panzer Kunst development. There's no telling what she might be capable of, certainly she hasn't been slacking off the way Tzycrow has.
Also, look at the bizarre variations on Karate, and several schools of Panzer Kunst have been mentioned already.

Oh yes all those silly useless subschools of electro magnetic Karate, laughed for minutes about that. Especialy the one which involves bowing in front of a stronger opponent and bribing them, with the users looking like office worker.
But i thought most of the different types of Panzer Kunst mentiod were from before the time of Grünthal's fall, when the Panzer Kunst users were still a secret military sect of special operatives.

I think the most plausible theory for Gally's new tricks is that Yoko was secretly trained by other Meisters without the knowledge of other Künstler, so Gally just remembers new techniques as she did against Jashuga.
And yes, it makes sense for Erika to develop new tricks, considering Yoko's level before the fall Erika was most likely a Meister too at that point. However the dirtiness of what she did to Zazie (which is like infecting a captured soldier with a diseas like malaria and send him back to his troop like a human plague dog) fits into Rabe's style of Panzerkunst. So i still guess it's an extension of that covert ops group he and Yoko belonged to.
Isidorios wrote:And we know that no Kunstler is considered really proficient until they've developed at least one unique move...
Does that mean Sechs could still count as Künstler with her Sechster style? After all she still uses a few Panzer Kunst moves (why she never uses Einzug Rüstung though is a mysterie to me) and while the style was designed to be used against other Panzerkünstler (mainly Gally) it is still based on it.
However wouldn't such a new offspring style only be considered to be still Panzerkunst if the creator was a Meister? Since Sechs Panzerkunst is on the level Gally was when she was a Tuned and that was only between Gessele or Krieger.
Come to think of it, i wish Yukito would develop Sechster Style a bit or let her fight against a real Künstler. Hey with Nova repairing and improving Rabe maybe we can get such a fight in near future.

to Sergio I knew you were in love with Erica! explains a lot... lol
I don't think Panzer kunst has undergone anything like electromagnetic karate as we have seen
with all its decadent styles which can only originate in a peaceful world, Zekka being an exception, as well as Toji to a lesser extent, who are closer to the spirit of Karate at its origin. whereas panzer kunst was created has retained the same spirit along the years even enhanced by the desire for revenge of its members against the whole universe.
Panzer kunst seems a lot more orthodox than karate is. the seiner weisen are not techniques created by the meisters but all have their roots in the different schools founded by the first pupils of Tiger Zahuel, but are not normally taught to large numbers. So the only ways to have access to these techniques is either to read about them and work on one's own by trial and error into mastering them or to find someone willing to transmit them, the way Alita was taught geheiminis (cf BAA Vol. 3) or the hertz nader along with Erica.

concerning the verchlak we know what happened with Gerda teaching her technique to Erica and Yoko.
but concerning the Geheiminis we've got almost no clue what happened.
We just know that Yoko was taught an extremely rare technique by an unknown master, was Erica with her or was she alone?
why did this master teach her?
according to tzykrow she was a useless piece of trash,so maybe the master wanted to give the tadpole a chance to develop by giving her a formidable technique which would enable her to rival with the best fighters. Some kind of lame duck story.

Alita is pulling certain moves out of "thin air" (and I have my theories about that)
To clarify, I believe that Alita is now "channeling" Panzer Kunst knowledge from the past on a subconcious level. Much as Kaos reads vibrations through objects to gain skills of old masters. Whoever built or reconfigured Alita's unique nanomachined brain (I have serious doubts she was ever really human) probably designed it with this feature.
Possibly the same explanation for her sudden "development" of the Plasma Soliton, but who knows?

Well, let's remember what Gally has been doing since the very first book:
She gets that berserker's body, something she almost certainly didn't have before, and before you - or even Gally herself - know, she pulls out that plasma beam out of her sleeve when fighting against Makaku.
She just seems to instinctively adapt to the capabilities of the body she's in ... as long as it can do some serious damage ...
It was kind of odd to see her new body in LO not respond to her will on Salem first. Though this particularity came in very handy in her fight against Caerulea later on.

By the way...
What's the translation of this chapter at?
Anyone seriously working on it?
How much of it is actually done?
How much needs doing, yet?

As far as I know, this chapter is still a virgin. Momentarily, we have to wait and hope for Reinga, who translates from jap to spain and then Sergio, Dharko and/or Burnung Angel retranslate it into english.
Currently we are working on Phase 83 so it should be done in a week +/- a few days. So until we reach 88, it could take a while.
Are you a translator?

1.
meeps_hitchie has already made a translation straight from Japanese (
http://www.rippersanime.com/Forum/viewt ... 28&start=0)
2. There is no sense in translating, checking, debating and editing anything. We were happy for translating everything up to phase 89 in a row, and then the chief-editor chose other people's work. So, new translations are NOT the case, as they will have no use.
