What firmware do you have in your PSP? also, what is the version of POPs loader you're using to run the game?
PSP can load different versions of the PS1 emulator, could you test if a different version fixes the issue? because that gives me the impression it has something to do with some incompatibility.
I don't have my PSP here, but I can test it once I get it back if you need some help

I converted it to a eboot.PBP file for the psp to be able to load it.
I use version 6.60 for firmware and PRO-B CFW.
I have not noticed anything wrong since that single cutscene that I could not load.

You can try to convert the original iso, load the savegame from memorycard and try if the propblem is still there.
I suspect the conversion did something.
I had the same problem with remastering the game ISO.
Something screws up with generic tools.
Can the psp load the game in a different format other then eboot?

Hello, first of all, thank you (and all the translators) for all the effort in making this patch! I've just found your project a few days ago and I've been wanting to play this game for ages, but was put off not knowing japanese.
Unfortunately, running the ISO on duckstation, the game hangs whenever I win or lose a motorball race

It doesn't crash or anything, it loads in the following cut-scene fine but the characters then just stand there staring at each other, no dialogue or anything but there is music playing. Can't press anything and there's no way to continue with the game.
I've also noticed a few issues with negatives/pronouns in the script? Like I said, I don't know japanese so I'm just basing it off the english version of the manga, but stuff like Makaku saying "My intellect is NOT tied to my body" feels weird since he says the exact opposite in the manga. Or characters saying "I" when it feels like it should be "you".
Just wanted to give the bug report/feedback. Great project!

Hello, I have just read almost all of the subject! It’s really hard work, well done! I was looking for a playable version on PC, apparently this one is possible, I could see that on January 5, 2021 the new version was 50% finished or is the other 50% currently.
But I haven't downloaded anything yet because there are Mega links which are dated and which are dead. Is there an update of the downloadable links today and apparently SaltAddict encountered some bugs recently!
I am happy to have found this forum related to Gunnm / Alita, I too have been a big fan for a very long time, Thank you I am waiting for your response
Also it's surprising that they haven't released a PC version these days!!!

The v0.17 is the current released version.
It's fully playable but the translation is still lacking in places.
I'm still working on it and intend to release a patch v0.18 very soon to address a LOT of translation errors.
The mega link on the first page of this thread is the latest version
Also note i test the game with ePSXe and/or Duckstation.
Any conversions or use of other emulators is at you own risk.
I can't give any instructions to convert it for use with PSP for instance.
Don't own one and have no way to test.
The conversion in the past somehow messed with the ISO layout causing problems.
The ISO is build with the original Japanese console in mind, so be sure to load the Japanese BIOS instead of the USA variant!

Very nice indeed. Bedankt voor je inzet en harde werk

Now, let's see if I can get Duckstation (or another PS emulator) running on the Switch

Sorry for the late reply.
Yes its being worked on, sort off.
I had to to take a break for reasons but the project is not abandoned.
I do hope i can work on it when my vacation starts in 2 weeks.
Lots of unpublished translation fixes.
As its a project mostly done by me, things might go slow at times.

Hi. I already found out that the latest version of your translation has been recently released (v0.19) with a huge improvements. May i ask what difference will be between this and the final one? Is it worth of waiting or can i start to play the game with 0.19 version? I am really looking forward to play Alita after all those years. Thanks for your translation efforts. I hope Eithea will be done soon as well;-)

Well the game is playable.
Translation wise, there will be weird translations here and there.
I've made this release with the naming style of when it came out along with the Viz release of the manga.
The difference when i go v1.0 is that i'll change the names to what the modern re-releases did and make a double release.
That way everyone can have their preferred naming style.
Like said in the topic start:
With this release i also changed the character naming style to the Viz release (time appropriate) So Gally -> Alita, Ketheres/Tiphares and Hugo.
I'll probably be making an updated naming convention for the modern naming as well (not that hard to make). Alita, Jeru/Zalem en Yugo. (modern kodansha naming style)
So if you can't wait, just play the game.
The translation will probably not get any better without actual JP-EN translators.
Just the obvious bugfix here and there.
