but glo 100 was a little bit weak
the first alita was realy special and still one of te best mangas ever made

last order started so good. but since the vampires it became clear that yukito just got borred with alitas universe. the only problem is that they force him to stay with glo. may be it's time for him to start a new series. as much as i love my alita

but the real cool stuff in alita always was the neohumanistic scifistoryline about the edge of what is human and machine.

for me he is one of the best neohuman writers our there. but since gully lost her real brain there is nothing to top that

and alita slowly becomes some dragon ball z fighting routine.

he looses himself in side charakters and the real human drama that made alita so likeable is just gone. instead alita gets super power after super power and looses more and more of her character. my most loved series now is nothing more then not ending fan service
also yukito doesn't even try to draw good panels any more on some pages. look at the symbolic inner scenes in the old alita and compare it with the ones in the last last order phases

i think all the trouble aroud glo 100 was that yukito realy wanted to kill alita in glo 99. and may be that would have been a good idea

pls some body tell me why alita is still fighting. may be she realy found the zen and everything became meaningless

The first time I raised up from my luker limbo here was to say something very alike to what you said. But I only agree that Yukito is somewhat lost about to do from now on when he started the ZOTT. Fighting tournaments is a well know resource for mangakas to "pad out" when they lack inspiration, Dragonball Z is perhaps the best exemple.

You pointed very well remembering that fanservice is not only about sex, meaningless fights can be also classified as fanservice.

Alita suffered a major emotional breakdown when she discovered her brain was replaced but after she recovered she forgot the issue! (brain damage perhaps? =P) She could easily hunt down Super Nova to recover her brain and Lou's brain. But instead let's exchange punches and kicks on that exciting ZOTT =P

But I can't agree with you regarding his drawings, in that matter he is good as ever. Look at vol. 13 for example.

I don't know how likely this is but I can see Gally having a sort of revelation after that Zeus guy leaves/dies/runs. After she got her new body I haven't felt the same vibe coming from her as she did before, like when she was fighting Caerula and she said her eyes were like any other humans who had seen sorrow and pain etc. I feel like she's gonna have that flashback about being more...human like??? idk right before she comes back to fight Toji.

any thoughts on this?

Dunno. She is a bit more conceited now: "I feel like I'll not lose to anybody", "I can take all of them by myself". But she can boast things like that now. And being a little presumptuous is a trace of ther character as we have seen many times.

I think in alitas world the body has a huge influence on the mind. when i remember the old alitas. she always changed with her body

Makaku once said the mind is a slave of the body (quoting Nietzsche)... or something like that.
Her new body sure is powerful, the most powerful she ever owned, but I think the biggest leaps in her power are made because her "discoveries", her "insights of illumination". But is this Alita without her human brain the real Alita? Is her essence, or her soul, the same as before?
