Great news, everyone!
The film will begin shooting in Austin, Texas on October 17, 2016, and will continue filming until February 9, 2017.
Budgeted at an estimated 175 - 200 million dollars, this will be hands down the biggest budget that Robert Rodriguez has ever had.

only 4 months? shame they waste it on rob rodriguez. anyone but him and micheal bay. wtf are they thinking? how could someone like cameron even remotely respect him?

Well... there's nothing we can do, right? I'm stil skeptical about it, but to be honest the cast looks pretty good, so I'm just gonna wait and have some faith. At this point I only hope they treat the original source and characters with the respect they deserve. And what do you know, it could turn out to be better than we expect.

We are just a couple of days away from the shooting, I'm actually really excited! Let's hope we get some look at the characters soon

Not even 4 months filming... Will these people get toilet breaks at all, or what?

4 months is a solid shoot length. It will probably have a heavy stylized feel, like Sin City or 300. So much will be mocapped, which will then need key frame animation love, which is equivalent to more time with actors.

YK completely worshiped Frank Miller, FACT, see the fight against the Ninjas he photoshopped from Elektra Lives graphic novel. YK completely ripped off the Sin City visual style for Ashen Victor. This point is 10,000 times more important than you think it is considering the fairly uniform manga styles at large.

Robert Rodriguez worked with Frank Miller on Sin City.

Robert Rodriguez is probably YK's first choice to direct.

This is a dream come true.

It is perfect. The only director I would prefer is Spielberg.

i hated sin city. and i love heavily stylized films. im not that into movies though so im not really qualified to speak. but i will say, leon the professional had a feel and style i feel would go well with gunnm.

Sin City is a masterpiece, if we are talking about direction of actors, acting, narrative and photography, simply.

What? Spielberg directing Gunnm? Sorry, but my imagination is sometimes limited.

You forget that a lot of preproduction has been taking place and a lot of filming was being done in parallel with Avatar. Consider that an entire new system of 3D filming had been developed and the computer farm to do the digital processing had to be leased. Think about that they are trying for 3D without having to wear those funky glasses. I had hoped to be able to reveal more, but my connections at the studio have clamped their mouth shut, but that in itself says allot. If you live close to Hollywood there is one thing to look out for. In the "trade papers" like the Hollywood Reporter there is advertising for test audiences that get you free tickets to midnight showings. I got to see several great films before their release, you just have to answer a questionnaire.

Sin City ended up way better than the comic book, however I don't want to see Gunnm through a Frank Miller prisma, it must have its own visual language. I don't know what I want to see, but I know what I don't.

The concept art that was posted here about a year ago is something you should find and refer to. I was also told that the original manga art is a heavy influence, I don't know if it is true or not. Reportedly things are wrapping up and will be going to complete all computer rendering, then integration and "Postproduction". But other than that my friends have just stopped sharing anything whatsoever as the breaking of a nondisclosure can cost a job and money. The ONLY thing they would confirm (they both are into Battle Angel), is they think it is staying true to form. Whish I could say more, but if I am told anything, I will share it.
