It is reasonable to imagine that the rights are all screwed up because YK went nuts twice between now and Gunnm 1. With the movie coming out, there might be a legitimate crazy "back issue" market for the original graphic novels. Thoughts?

what does yk went nuts mean

Back Issue market means they become valuable.

"Went nuts" means abrupt, oddly explained end of publication.

That depends on where you are. Japanese books are cheap, I agree, but the shipping costs are criminal.

Are these books like the original ones or the number of volumes was reduced?

All right. I've already found the answer.
This edition is reduced to 4 volumes, and the first one has 452 pages, while the original edition has 223.
That said, Kodansha made a very good work with the digital version, but destroyed everything in this reprint.

The page you gave refers to the digital version only.
That's a pity, as I would like to have the Japanese edition printed, but the original way, as they did digitally.

That is the problem. Kodansha replanned everything. Fortunately, I bought Last Order from Shueisha version, and I will have to try some friend going to Japan to buy me a used first arc somewhere.
