I keep reading this manga by inertia only, my enthusiasm is long gone. Perhaps the upcoming movie will light up my heart again?

Anyway. Have you notice that in the fist sequences of Gunnm: Last Order, Erika was drawn way more slender? Now she is kinda bulkish.

She's gotten FAT, probably from all that sulking.

Bulkish is not exactly fat, is more like naturally broad.

I didn't notice those scars on her right arm before, does she always had them? About the "bulky", I noticed it too, but I think it is due to Yukito's drawing is permanently evolving -- not necessarely for better though.

Perhaps it could be because the first time they were the prisioners of a band of soldiers, then they went to to an orphanage, someone that care about them and, finally, somebody that could be evil but have enough money to feed her very well. And with her "slave" to carry her around, ... Did nobody think that it is because she was really taking weight because her conditions were improving? That's my opinion.

That would make sense, however in the comic books realm, eating a lot doesn't imply putting weight necessarily.

just a thought I have had, wouldn't it be possible that the treasure the count is after is actually Tiger Zahuel's legacy? Thus he can secure kunstlers' support for causing more mischief, by promising them the treasure against their support... this would tie in nicely.

This would make Erica cross path with the Kunstlers once again and maybe have a peek at some content which would help her becoming the outstanding kunstler she has grown up to be, even though she may not fully grasp what the book is about. And If things got ugly maybe Erica could be carried off to Grunthal.

Kishiro never does anything randomly, even the nazis in last order were not just some random piece of mars trivia.
the count himself has helped us understand mars politics better as well as served as an introduction for the mask tumour. So I expect this treasure hunt to lead to something eventually... even thought it seems to take a little time.

Personally I think the secret treasure is actually the Methuselyzation. Since those those nano machines has the process to prevent aging and is also grants immunity to many diseases as well. But later in the story Venus probably helps them develop the Methuselyzation later.

I don't think either. Gerda is already a full skale kunstler at this time of the story, so the legacy of Tiger's legacy is more alive then ever. Methuselization must happens at last sometime in the next 10 years or so. Gally is Methuselizated when Ido finds her in the scrapyard, and that's the main reason why she survived till then. So she must have been methuselizated when still a young adult, despite, with a full cyborg body, would age show at all? The only biological component of Gally's body was always the brain. Even her face is artificial.

Yet there is someting i don't get. Why all the kunstler, maybe but a few, had to be turned into necrosoldiers in order to survive, when Methuselization was already an option?

Well, maybe the "necro soldier process" was a technic to ressurrect someone who already died and I suppose Erica and her pals died when their training facility (forgot the name) was bombed. Nova probably used a more advanced version to bring both Zapan and Alita back to life using only bits of their brains. And the methuselization is a technic to keep someone alive, probably by itself it isn't enough to "fix" a person that was exploded, for example.

Damn, why do I keep discussing such things? Guess I have nothing better to do... but I have, damn!

Methuselization wasn't refined yet maybe, although they it could still be a work in progress could of thing, it wasn't refine until Venus probably helped evolve the technology further. That is reasonable speculation in my opinion. Gergt quoted: "At that time, doing that way was the only method." That time could refer 200 years ago and maybe Methuselization wasn't completed yet but a work in progress that lead up to the necro soldier method.

I've reread the story so far, and I must admit that it seems I am wrong, things point to a grand nostrum rather than anything else, I am still doubtful about methuzalisation because the treasure in question seems to date back to the colonization period, which would really be old. I rather think it is not to be taken at face value maybe something like a new abundant energy source. An alternative for the baldachin perhaps, which would be a way to soothe the war torn Mars.

I for one think that methuzalisation had not yet been invented at the time, maybe the necrosoldier procedure led to mathuzalisation, but let's face it, how would the kammer gruppe have been able to chance upon a top secret experimental technology?

The way I see it, they may have been disposed of by Jupiter after the failure of operation maulwurf, or killed in the destruction of grunthal.
This must have been when dasein reanimated their corpses.

Another Hypothesis is that they were unwittingly experimented upon by Jupiter as it was creating its own version of the mathuzalisation.
As for Alita, the mystery remains,
At the beginning of Last order we were told by Nova that her brain was peculiar due to a polymer resin, which had the ability to harden when subjected to shocks or heat, maybe she owes her survival to this ability. As to where it comes from I cannot say.
