^Ripper's Anime Page

A very quick recap of Last Order (with spoilers, but i guess we all here, GUNNM fans have read L.O.):

1 year after the Granite Inn facts Desti Nova rebuilds Gally's brain by Karmatron techniques, it makes the Imaginos body then explant Gally's brain replacing it with a brain chip. Gally ('s replica) wake up to find out that Nova revealed the Secret of Salem causing the society to collaps. She restore the order and start to look for her only bound (until now) with Salem: Lou Collins. But she has been executed and her brainchip disassembled. So Gally accepts to follow Nova in the orbital elevator for a chance to recover Lou's original brain from the incubator. After a rovinous defeat agains Mbadi Gally teams up with Ping WU and the replicas to enter the ZOT as a diversion while Ping hack the systems of Ieru. After circumstances and revelations Gally's replica trades Gally's brain with Supernova in exchange for Lou's. She then decide to stay in the ZOT until the end to gain intedependence for Earth surface, and in the end she does.

Buuuuut... Did they revive Lou or not? It was the goal the whole ZOT was about!

I thought they did at the final chapter Figure Four was talking to Lou, while waiting for brain Alita's body to be completed.

I don't blame you, series with slow release dates tend to make some readers forget the story and past events.

Didn't Lou end up with Kaos? Or was that the alternate end before Last Order?

Yes it was the alternate ending before last order

I think we are going back to Ketheres someday. You know we are going to get Baby Figure/Alita. Auntie Lou. Uncle Kaos.

Look at the follow through on Koyomi and Shumira.

To be back on Earth surface could be a minefield. We shouldn't forget that the REAL Gally is on Earth and the REAL Gally could never keep herself away from troubles. I wonder how she would deal with another herself (far beyond the other Gally Replicas).

Dunno. She seemed to come to terms with the TUNED pretty OK. She had a little meltdown when faced with her own brain-chip, but if she can adjust, then a psyche copy can probably adjust.

Also, Gally-on-earth has stuff to get over anyway. She's *not* a cyborg. I think she said at one point "I've been a cybrog for all of my life that I can remember". She *can't* do Panzer Kunst. So she's going to have to mentally reconcile a lot already. Dealing with another Alita is probably not that big a deal compared to that.

We must remember that flesh and bone Gally/Alita has the memories and personalities the cyborg had when killed by Nova in the road.
Gally/Alita was used to deal with a mechanical body, and so the flesh and bone version would not last, simply, as she is not used to deal with the fragility of a biological body, as to say.

Digging back to 20 years ago, at the beginning of the Granite Inn arc, Gally had claimed to be tired to fight, now that she had something to live for (figure). The original "Pinocchio" ending of Gunnm and the new "Pinocchio" ending of Last Order, in which Gally becomes "a real girl" was, IMHO, intended to be a definitive retirement. Now Gally can no longer fight, even if she wishes so. Ok, she can lean figure's anti-cyborg tecniques, but she will never again be on the peak. So she can finally have a quiet life with a man she loves and rise kids. In the end, that's what she mostly desired when she first retired both from motorball and bountyhunting. But it still doesn't sound like her to stop pocking her nose.

While fully human now, there's nothing that stands in her way to get cybernetic enhancements.
Starting from scratch again.

If you think about it, if the brain is intact and if she grows tired of the cybercrap, she can use the bioprinter again.
Fresh new body, and the cycle starts again.
The same is for Figure and his missing limb.
Grow a new one, get it wrecked, grow a new one again.

The only thing is that stands in the way is the usual $$$

That was exactly what I thought when I started reading your post. Many times the cost is prohibitive, to say the least.
There are the most advanced tooth treatments on Earth, the same way there are millions of toothless people.

Dunno. One of the things they made clear about the scrapyard is that cybernetics are cheap. Cheaper than actually fixing biological parts. Now, getting something of quality for fighting... well, that's not just money but opportunity. You don't find bezerker bodies or Imaginos units just sitting on a shelf.

Just now I remembered one important point. The bioprinter is available to Jeruans, but not to the surface dwellers and probably not to Tiphareans either. In "Holy Night," Dedkinto/Dedkind works developing techniques of physical reconstruction to people who lost body parts.

It is true that after the Last Order events and the LADDER débâcle, things have changed, but that does not guarantee much.

Actually it is suggested the opposit. Cyber implants are expansive, even if still yet not as expansive as biologic. Rolling back to the beginning of the saga, Ido walks the scrapyard in search of reusable cyber parts when he finds Gally, takes some time to collect enough 2nd hand parts to assemble a civilian body for her, there is a spinal columns black market, and people work fro years or become hunter-warriors to pay back the cost of implants. Despite it looks like almost anyone on scrapyard has cyber implants and we see stalls for cheap second hand parts, both mechanical and biological (see young Vector's), those part seem to be generally affordable but not cheap at all.
