Others works/characters in fiction that might have some similarities to the ones in Gunnm

I was talking to someone about this and it seems that there are more similarities and connections gunnm might have with other works in fiction than I might have imagined before. Do you have any such similarities in mind? If so please feel free to share them in this thread.

I'll start off with something that I think is an interesting similarity. I think that there are quite a few similarities between Caerula and Cynthia from the pokemon game series. Firstly they seem to have a similar appearance. Secondly, just like Caerula, Cynthia is kind of an outsider for most of the main character's story early on and is instrumental in providing crucial information or artifacts for a major events or a set of major events later on in the story. Not only that, but they seem to serve out the purpose in kind of similar ways at least very early on. It kinda makes me think if gamefreak might have gotten at least a slight bit of inspiration for making Cynthia from Caerula's character in gunnm: last order.

Elysium is a hollywood movie that is a ripoff of battle angel. Both futuristic, Elysium is a space city for the rich while there is the scrapyard rip off from battle angel where the people are poor and the earth is in poor condition and how the main character in elysium wants to go to the space city, it has cyborg and the movie was clearly borrowing story elements from battle angel alita.

Times like these makes me wander why couldn't they just make battle angel since hollywood to be interested in battle angel alita's storyline

I got another fiction that is similar to battle angel alita. It is James Cameron's tv series from Fox called "Dark Angel", it is about a woman who was created from military along with 11 other soldiers with her. She doesn't remember her past and lives in a post apocalyptic futuristic world. It has cybernetic enhancement as one of its story elements.

It also has a radio station with a dj that has a mysterious past as well. The similarities are there for those who read battle angel alita and James Camerons admits he has been influenced by battle angel's especially Max in Dark Angels as her character development is similar to Alita.

This was debated in this forum some time ago.
In Underworld, Kate Beckinsale dresses and moves like Gally, and the way she fights is a sort of Panzer Kunst.

I doubt that the authors of Sillage (aka Wake) were inspired by Gunnm, but the main character, Nävis (aka Navee... ah, nothing like weird English translations), has always reminded me of Gally, what with being a black-haired, short woman who's an excellent fighter with a fiery temper and a lot of determination. They even share some similarities when it comes to their past - at first Gally doesn't remember who she is, not to mention being a survivor from several hundred years ago (also, for quite some time she's, in a way, the last of her kind), while Nävis, being raised by a robot and a sentient animal in the wreck of a spaceship that crashed in the jungle, doesn't really know where she came from, plus she's the only living human known to the huge space convoy that is Sillage/Wake. Also, the comic is excellently drawn, with plenty of detail and with great mechanical designs - just like Gunnm was.

(By the way, I greatly recommend reading this series.)

Muster and Kuruku
Baron Muster has too many similarities if not then is a Tragic Anti-Hero Homage to Lord Kurku the Villain of the "Unico in the Island of Magic" 1983 Feature Film and shares similarities in Looks, Personality, and Habits that became

As for Winslow Leach/Phantom of the Paradise Disfigurement and Dehumanization is a shared similarity if not Coincidence since both had the Right side of their faces Disfigured

BTW
Winslow before his disfigurement also looks like the ZOTT Day Three, Round Two, Match One's Leader of the Starship Cult's "Charisma Magic Troupe's" Leader Mather's Hu-Feng aka Whophon the Great's Double that Sechs Foght(Winslow Leach Without the Glasses).

Homme de Feu's Caretaker/Meal/Lover Olympe's Wardrobe has similarities to Mary 25's in the Episode of the Same name of the Alliance Atlantis Productions of the Outer Limits TV Show Season Four Episode 15 from the 90's about a AI Cybernetic Nanny Mary 25 and her predecessor Valerie 23 are played by Sofia Shinas who also played Eric Draven's Murdered Fianceee Shelly in "The Crow" but Olympe's Costume Design is much more detailed and Classical compared to Mary 25's Uniform but the visual similarities are still there and a Possibility of Kishiro-san being an Alliance Atlantis Outer Limits Fan or just a case of Coincidence.

Cammy from Street Fighter is basically just a tribute to Gally.

Also that one scene in Alien Resurrection was ripped straight from when Gally finds that experiment room in the underground lab.

Yes, the scene in Alien Resurrection is too similar to be a simple coincidence. As to Cammy (and, yes, the name has the same structure) I will have to check!

I just love Inu Yashiki. It is a bit of a mixture between Death Note and Gunnm. The story is about two people that got killed by an alien accident in an urban district in Japan. The victims are Shishigami, a young, handsome high school boy (who is friends with a kid that gets bullied each day) and a 58 years old man, Inu Yashiki, who is a salaryman and is trapped inside a loveless marriage and discovered he was diagnosed with cancer and has only a few months to live. Their bodies get replaced by advanced combatrobots with omnipotent powers. Their lives (or rather: their view towards life) changes. One becomes an angel, helping and healing people in other to discover his humanity and the other becomes a demon, killing people at random. However, both discover that there is no such a thing as black and white.
It borrows from Gunnm it's philosophical theme's like questions what a human being defines and are you still a human if your body is being replaced with that of a robot and it diggs deeper at the (dark and cruel) sides of humanity in order to find an answer. The devellopment of the two main characters over the course of the manga is very well done and it reminds me very much at manga like Gunnm, Death Note and Akira. It recently also got it's own anime ( Episode 2 just aired this week in Japan). If you were to read a manga like Gunnm, I recommend to read this one.

I just completed a playthrough of an old game- shin megami tensei 2, and couldn't help but notice the various similarities it had with part 1 of gunnm. Similarly, I felt like shin megami tensei 1 (the prequel) had an akira-like feeling in the story.

Hey guys! Have you seen Altered Carbon? The new series from Netflix, it has many similarities with BAA and LA.

First, it is cyberpunk
Second, many cultures and planets take part of it
Third, the main character has memories from a past life
and many others
