Yes I'm an insomniac but I find stuff so it works out Yukito has been busy no wonder mars chronicle is a snail's pace he's been doing an alita battle angel 1 shot volume too o.O
Yep now I have faith in the movie as cameron got yukito to actually make a new alita story that's outside his gunnm canon besides ghost in the shell couldn't get shirow to do any tie ins just deluxe reissues.

I wonder if yukito is really writing this. I know he has quite an adventure lately from being a judge for a rookie contest sponsored by kodansha, visit the alita battle angel movie set, did artwork for a video game and taking care of his dog as well.

I'm guessing if he wrote it it wouldn't have been this year but when he approved cameron's script & seen test footage it would've began planning stages.
Don't forget there was also that battle angel alita announcement kodansha had planned for anime nyc last year i think but it didn't happen so it could've been this which would mean it's been done a while.

Oh so that's why the scrapyard era alita illustration doesn't have the poofy hair
I doubt he's writing/drawing something new other than the cover and maybe some extra movie-verse illustrations. See "This edition contains the full first story arc of the Japanese manga Battle Angel Alita" sounds like those reprinted novels with a movie poster cover and a "now a major motion picture" sticker stuck on it.

Yea but then the question is why is it $12.99 instead of $10.99 like the rest of alita single volumes because even the ghost in the shell 1 movie tie-in manga was same price as tpb version

The 1st volume did not cover the entire first arc (assuming that it's the makaku arc ) it was missing the last chapter. Adding in some movie exclusives and the fact that the original volumes are out of print I don't see why this movie edition couldn't sell for more than the standard $10.99

nvm looks like movie-tie in manga is same manga as loot box tech manga just without having to subscribe to lootbox
maybe ars magna 2 artbook it is then the updated berserker body illustration is for as i'm sure kodansha wants to hit while movie is opening in december.
