Thank you for the chapter, I still want to know what is the grand plan Kishiro has for Erica's character arc, I fail to see the grand payoff for her as so far I find her to be such a bitch at the moment.

I hope we get a nice slow stroll through Erica's life.

I think the population has been in decline for a few years, partly due to loss of vocal members of the community,
waning interest in the story, the length of time between chapters, short chapter lengths, etc. I myself lurk every now and then.

You should see the skull knight forum(a site dedicated that talks about berserk mostly), it is way more populated and even when you see some decrease in replies and views from the site, it is still populated despite the slow release dates for the chapters

Secondly, well there are less comments for the reasons you said. and another reason is we don't know where the story is going,so making theories is kind of difficult and kishiro revealing Alita's origins has really taken off a lot of the fun of making theories. Was kishiro going to follow the blue print of the video game or do something new?Well now we've got the answer.
Now with Erica we are in a completly unknown territory, what is the point of this episode?will this new guy be relevant? When are we going to get to panzer kunst?These questions have already asked?so there is no point in asking them again and again. So we are just waiting to see how the story unravels.

I agree. But also the number of views for the new chapter topic is lower then ever. Sad. But it has been so many year. Time to wrap Gunnm up and call it a thing.

I agree, Gunnm is dying a slow death...

Unstable release rate for a few years now, stretching of the stories over multiple volumes.
More then enough reasons.
The movie made the hype light up, but i wonder if it did make the manga more popular.

He should hire more assistents to get it all out better and faster.

Goodness, looks like the next chapter after 34 (part 3) will be released on January 29th 2020. It's hard to care for the story when it's release rate, is even worse than Real, or even Hunter x Hunter. Despite hunter x hunter having so much hiatus break once it resumes serialisation so much readers discuss this manga with good reason it is that good and worth the wait really worth it (really slow start though). Hajime no ippo is keeping my interest more than Mars Chronicle more frequent updates, and is also going in interesting direction despite being one of the world's longest running manga to ever exist, can see why crazyankan consider it one of the best action manga.

Though I think the art has improve, more shading, more background art, even those who don't like the character design the architecture and background do look pretty detailed and good has that shading style that was missing before

At this point, I would probably accept the abysmal original ending, as I hate it a lot I found it nonsensical, I'm pretty sure others just settle with the original ending and I wouldn't blame them at the moment

Muv Luv alternative is light years better than Mars Chronicles, Muv luv alternative is the magnum opus of science fiction in my opinion, and still going strong 20 years with interesting side stories

i've personaly did a brake and was waiting for a bunch of chapters to be ready. Read last 4 of them and... well, i'll never lose interest to GUNNM until it ends, but maaaaan... it's so slooow noooow. We almost didn't get any steps further in half of an year...

Firstly, belated thank you for the chapter! I liked this one way more than most of the latest ones.

What does the footnote on page 2 say? I don't know enough kanji yet to understand it, I'm afraid.

As for the state of the forum - everything has been said already, I think; my own reason for less frequent visits is mostly the irregularity and shortness of releases, not to mention that so far Mars Chronicle just isn't doing it for me, especially when compared to the first series and and LO. Of course, I'll follow every Alita series to its end, even if the majority of Mars Chronicle ends up being this flashback - though I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it won't, haha (I'm naive enough to hope that we'll get back to present sometime during 2020... what can I say, I'm curious about post-LO Gally and adult Erica, and I miss Sechs & co). At least this Keun (Kuan?) guy is pretty lively.

And even though I'd like to see more activity, I got used to this forum being fairly quiet a long time ago (and I'm usually a lurker, anyway); I don't mind it, and I quite like seeing mostly the same people comment over the years - a bit of stability feels almost cozy, what with the Web being such a transient place, not to mention living in what feels like fairly... complicated times. Not gonna lie, though - I was expecting to see more fresh blood and more action in general shortly before and after the release of the movie.

Maybe something along the lines of, say, a collective re-read of the previous series would liven up the forum?

I'd also love to know something about the ACTUAL Gally and Figure 4. I kinda imagine they will eventually pop up at some point with a bunch of kids like Shumira and her husband.

I think fleshy Gally will die soon after TLO ending due to her mettle. Her mechanical body now will not save her in this world. She used to get in troubles everytime.

Isn't that what fan fiction is for?

I started doing a prose version of the manga a while back. But no one seemed into it, so I stopped. But certainly one classical form of speculation about plots and storylines in anime/manga has been fan fiction...

I was surprised that the forum didn't kind of pop with the movie. The movie had fans in spite of it locking out a sequel. (REBOOT!!!)

None of the baby Alita stuff feels like it will grab new fans.

I think when we get to Panzer Kunst chonin exam or whatever, whenever that is; I think it will pick up. He knows how to draw POW and has chosen this narrative path that doesn't offer much opportunity for POW, but Gelda is close.

He wants to show us Alita killing Erica and he wants to show us Venus, is my feeling.

With all due respect to Ripper i doubt that this forum pops up much into the googling of the movie fans who don't even bother reading the manga (i really don't think many did it). It has always been most of a place where us long time fans get a relief from the slow and erratic pubblication of Gunnm in their own countries.

Heh, tell me about it. In my country the first edition of Gunnm was published in 2003-2005. This year we got the deluxe edition (with more bland translation, unfortunately). Sometime in 2020 they will finally start publishing the deluxe edition of Last Order and after that Mars Chronicle... We will probably get the extra stories, but I doubt we'll ever get Haisha (or the artbook, the novels, the OVA, etc).
