Anyway, those questions are quite deep if I understand them correctly!

Well, that is philosophically hard to answer! I guess it's like what happens when you finish a book or series that has been there for quite some time and that you finally know the end. It really depends on how the story would end. Just like a David Lynch movie where there is no real explanations of the ending and you can imagine it the way you want or put whatever meaning there is into it.

As for gunnm, I think for me it's all about to know what the hell happend to her to end there. Where did she come from to finish somehow as a terrorist and burnt in the atmosphere. She wasn't really born and she did not even die. Copied, cloned or something, but still there. There is no beginning and no end of her. It would be too bad not to know that properly. Now the fillers of the story with Erica is stretching a bit too much but it's still enjoyable I think.

As for the what the "old" story gave me, well, I was still young when it came out, and it was pretty special for a teenager to read something about the idea of the existence and what it meant to be human. A lot of self introspection and philosophical thoughts about it. Made me think a lot in advance of the "cogito ergo sum"!

If she implies, like others suggested in the past, that the old game tells all Mars Chronicle, I would say I am not into videogames, despite having played some and, after so many years, if that game still runs in Windows 10, it would be a poor experience. Second: the game and the manga are different media, there's no guarantee that Kishiro will follow exactly the same script, and if he does, the experiences are still different, like an anime based on a manga series. Even if they follow each other closely, still the experience wouldn't be the same. Third: If I had some way of knowing the future, I'd win the lottery... er... knowing the story in advance because somehow I've read all the future manga, I'd torment people here with spoilers all the time... and if I'd know the story sucks, I wouldn't have a reason to read it again.

To me, Gunnm is:
An anchor to the years of my youth.
A realization about the vastness of time and how countless stories are woven though it.
A reminder that you have to fight forever to create and hold onto a place in the world.

To me it's just another way to escape boredom before death arrives.

For me the first serie when I was reading it around 1995 was when I first became really interested about humans going to Mars (go SpaceX lol). I think Kishiro and others artists were well in advance for their time to dig into space colonies subjects 25 years ago!
