* The film will be released on Dolby Digital 3-D projection, the first of its kind.
* The film will have a $200,000,000 budget, and possibly exceeding it.
* Many of the film's major characters, besides Alita, will also be CGI.
* There will be "Motorball" in the film.

BAA Movie

Well i'm a bit sceptical that the movie will "succeed"
True he has some renowned movie titles after his name, but filming a manga is a different thing.
Especially the die hard fans of the manga itself will probably have mixed feelings.
The positive "Yeah! Real life Alita! W00T! OMG look at that cyborg body and those tits" <-- i do think alita will get "enhanced"
The negative "How are they gonna cram ~3 books into a 2-3 hour movie?"
Putting even 1 book in that timespan will be extremely hard.
There's just NO WAY to put everything the books have into the movie.
And thats probably its main flaw.
Leaving out enourmous parts of the BAA universe and providing only a glimpse of taped together major events.
Now i'm sure the CG will be awesome, and alita will look super hot

~
And it probably will be a good action movie featuring the one we adore and awesome fights.
My main concern is that it will be only a 2-3 hour action fighting movie featuring only her and reveales nothing about the alita universe itself.
The story of the manga will probably be mangled too in such a way to leave room for the fights / main events only, effectivly destroying the original storyline.
So for the ones who dont know the manga it will be a good/great action movie, but for the die hard fans i'm afraid it will be nothing more then an insult.
This is how i see it at this moment and I COULD BE COMPLETLY WRONG.
But thats to judge after the movie/trailer comes out right?
Oh yeah EVA live action

any takers on that

Another daring project that either succeeds or will get trampled on by a horde of angry and dissapointed fans.

[Spoiler warning! Mark text to read!]
Yeah, in an interview JC said the movie was going to fuse the storylines in book 1-3(?) into a much shorter one. So my guess is Alita will probably become a Motorballer instead of a Hunter-warrior in the begining or something like that. I wonder how they will feauture both the Motorball and Makaku showdown...the Joshugan showdown is in volume 4, right? If the movie ends in volume 3 everyone will presume Alita continues with Motorballing becuase of the lack of an ending...[Spoiler warning end.]
Anyway, I will probably be lined up for the ticets on the premiere either way.
EVA live action...I saw some concept work for it, I liked the EVA models but the NERV headquarters and some of the characters (Misato) didn't quite match my expectations.

James Cameron has much to do right now.
He is working on Godspeed with Harrison Ford and some other movie called "The Dive". And I have heard that he will make true lies 2 and terminator 4 with Arnold Schwarzenegger. But the last two movies are just rumours.
But I really hope that he makes that Alita movie.
And about the Neon Genesis Evangelion movie, I saw this about the budget: "Recent Internet rumors suggest that the Evangelion movie shall have the budget equal to that of a blockbuster, being roughly of 100 million or more. To compare this with other top movies; The Matrix had a $63 million budget and LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring had a budget of $109 million. It is unknown where such cash is coming from as the income of Anime does not rival that of Hollywood blockbusters."
And rumours about the storyline.
"The movie will focus on the first few episodes of the series. From the production images it can be gathered that the movie is set to feature "Ramiel" the cube with the wonderful drilling device - an episode that showed us the beauty of japanese power and big guns - something ripe for special effects."

Yeah I heard that about true lies 2 and terminator 4 too, Arnold sure has alot to do aswell ^^
100 million $$? Damn!
Anyway, back on topic, who would play Ido best? I can't think of ANYONE, apperance wise that is. Maybe he'll also be done in CG?

Have heard that only Alita will be CG.
Have no idea which actor who can play Ido
Can someone think about a good actor for Jashugan?

The Alita movie is actually going to be shot live action, with Alita being CG animated via motion capture. It will also be filmed using the 3d stereo imaging system that's been developed for use in documentaries.
Additionally, Cameron has alluded to the idea that he might do multiple movies, with the motorball scenes being a central point in the second movie.

Just go with Jessica Alba...or not. Anyway, cool, hope someone talanted gets it, not just for looks, although I would like to see someone with the roundish face of Alita...and those lips!? how the hell are they gonna...oh well.
Two movies? I though I've heard that somewhere...
Vetrox wrote:Someone in the back of my head is telling me I've heard rumors of multiple films...anyone?

Yeah found it!
Not making True Lies 2 and Terminator 4?
Oh well, I'd rather see a continutaion on the Gunnm movie. I wonder how he will do the story now...the first three volumes in movie No 1, and then...what? Kick of the second one with SPOLIER! MARK TO READ!
Joshugan dying? SPOILER END! Or rather continue with the Motorball thing? Maybe end it without Alita becoming champion? That kinda takes away the image of the competetive and stubborn Alita, doesn't it...if they don't do it without Alita wanting to, that is.
Edit: Oh, didn't see your post, sorry Maddoc. Focus on the Motorball, eh? Fine by me. I rather liked the later parts more though...
And check this out...I'm making a BAA t-shirt! It's not realy finished yet though. Got the idea from a small pic I found on some forum...

Found another interview with kishiro. But it is little bit old, but still interesting.
The most interesting partof the interview was this:
MNS: And it's also been revealed 3 films may be created from GUNNM. This will collect much more of the story than the 1993 OAV anime adaptation. Every recent Hollywood film series that has achieved a trilogy status has gone on to be highly successful, what are your impressions?
YK: If Mr. Cameron said so, he should be sure that the odds are in his favor, but I am not sure about its success. As the original author, I want them to make 4, 5 or more films, not sticking to the trilogy status because it would mean that more episodes could be covered.

A trilogy would be so fucking cool

Hell yeah, the more the merrier! Don't have time to read it now though, I'll check it out later.
Yeah I'll upload a couple of pics when it's done!
I've bought some kind of printing-papers which I supposedly can print the image on and then iron it on top of a tee. Now I just have to get myself a yellow tee...

Found some more info about the BAA movie.

Does anyone has any information about Camerons other movie called Project 880?

by Vetrox
Nope, although I'm quite sure it's a sci-fi. Anyone who knows if its BAA or 880 which will be made into an mmorpg? I know BAA is scheduled for the 360 but not its genre (besides fighting, naturally).

"James Cameron said in an interview in 2005 that the film will get a strict PG-13 rating. "
"The film will encompass the first three books of the series, and, if the first movie is successful, will make two further movies, encompassing the rest of the series. "
from wikipedia
no why PG-13 rating no blody fights then ARG... but two more movies after thes one if its get successful sounds like fun...

I usually get disapointed after seeing movies made from anything. Like books n' manga. Thought, it would be pain in the arse if you'd never get to see this. To a fanatic fan atleast!
