I wouldn't say it that directly, but yes.
Anyway I liked to see Alita animated, moving around and so on. Although the drawings where not my cup of tea, she wasnt this cute in the anime.

Most of the time the anime version of a series is like 1/100 of the entire story. So is a little unfair to say that the alite anime was shit even if you're just saying as a comparison to the manga.
Imo the ovas were pretty good for that era (94?)

i dont think so that it is mater of era ... i know i my sound ridiculus but most of good anime was made after year 1995 (cowboy bepop, full metal alchemist, vision of escaflone, Slayers, Hellsing, Gost in the Shell SAC, etc)

But many anime series is still on high level i think for example not to mention obvious Sailor Moon with which was my first concious contact with anime (schocking truth revealed

), and lots of other anime like:
Robin Hood no Daibōken, Kaiketsu Zorro, Yatta-man, Gigi La Trottola, (immortal) Dragon Ball, General Daimos. That are things I have wached and liked.

So i dont think it is question about graphics... and story.. most Ova series are beter than this ...

yup also we got Macross,, Gundam, Akira From years before 1994 and are true masterprices and Alita's anime sucks, they do not take the care and time to made it

I was not a fan of Akira or Gundam. >.>; The former lost a lot in the translation, and the latter was too melodramatic for my tastes. Macross Plus was a masterpiece though. Still, I agree that the Alita anime fell prey to a tiny budget.
