What Gunnm / Battle Angel stuff/merchandise do you have?

Re: What Gunnm / Battle Angel stuff/merchandise do you have?
There isn't much information about the original maker http://myfigurecollection.net/item/26656
GKs are usually made in very limited quantities and sold only at conventions in Japan and this kit is very old. You can see that it is based on the character design of the OAV released back in 1993 https://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?s ... me&aid=147 The only hope you can find one is searching at Yahoo Japan or Mandarake and in the unlikely event that you find one for sure it will have a high price tag. If you can settle down with the E2046 recast, it is still up for pre-orders for a very reasonable price http://www.e2046.com/p/Alita/3851/

I pre-ordered the one from E2046. Do you know of any other websites/companies/people who make this kit, and who might make better quality than E2046?kamugin wrote:There isn't much information about the original maker http://myfigurecollection.net/item/26656

I found some pics of the original kit from Japan...it was being sold on Mandarake but is now sold out:

I've been looking around Japanese sites for a few hours now...no luck yet. I'd easily spend a few hundred on a new kit if I could somehow find one for sale.

You are mistaken. It does exist and I even have it.kamugin wrote: By pre painted I mean a figure you only have to take it out of the box and display, because it is all assembled and painted. Except for a small articulated figure and a doll, there was never a figure of Alita pre painted and assembled afaik.

Re: What Gunnm / Battle Angel stuff/merchandise do you have?
Has anyone here seen the kit posted below before? Or are we lucky enough to have someone on Ripper's site that owns one?
It looks like this is the true original for this Gally statue--which is by far my favorite because I think is the only doll/figure/statue/model/etc that really nails both her face and body.
Hmm...maybe I'll email some stores in Japan and ask around. Wouldn't call them myself (I believe there are websites / companies that do all that for you) since I speak only a few words of Japanese.
If it helps motivate anyone, I'm offering a $40 finders fee to the first person that links me with someone willing to sell and ship to the USA. Sealed, new-in-box original kit:

There are also newer and better (IMHO) GKs of Alita:
http://myfigurecollection.net/item/143224
http://myfigurecollection.net/item/167381
http://myfigurecollection.net/item/330934
These aren't very old like the kit you are looking for, thus it should be less difficult to find them. A hint: use her original name in Japanese when searching ガリィ

The first one is incredible...it's as accurate to Last Order Alita as the one I want is to the early volume original series Gally. I guess I'll have to get that one too.kamugin wrote:There are also newer and better (IMHO) GKs of Alita:

The second two are good attempts, but the faces and facial expressions don't give me that instant feeling of "yes, THIS IS Alita!" that the first one, and the one I'm looking for do.
Gah; I hope James Cameron and Rovert Rodriguez make Alita a mostly CG character and that she's the real life version of these statues. For some reason I feel that getting Alita's look correct will be vital to conveying what so many people love about her. Extrapolating to what a "real world" Gally might look like, I've come to the conclusion that she looks like no human alive that I've seen yet. Some girls get close, but that particular combination that makes up her facial structure is super rare in people. It's not stereotypical beauty or cuteness, but it's much rarer and hard to create.
I'm fascinated by how the finalized CG Alita(s) will look. Cameron has mentioned how she looks different (different age, body structure, slightly different face) in different volumes, so I think he gets it and will make the Alita variations amazing.

I surrender. I should have read it with attention before contesting.kamugin wrote:Quoting myself:By small articulated figure I mean that one.Except for a small articulated figure and a doll
Meantime, let me ask: which doll are you talking about (supposing you are not referring to that one with wings in sort of egg)?
Re: What Gunnm / Battle Angel stuff/merchandise do you have?
That's new, I should say. Actually there were two dolls, in the "Barbie" sense of the word, however both are just color variations of each other:Sergio Nova wrote:I surrender. I should have read it with attention before contesting.

Years ago I saw one of these auctioned in ebay, but those dolls don't please me so I let it pass. The figure you mentioned is also a GK.

Re: What Gunnm / Battle Angel stuff/merchandise do you have?
I agree with you, only the first one is worth to get, however since I don't particularly like the suit Alita wore for the biggest part of the Last Order arch, I wasn't compelled to get that one.Rindain wrote:The first one is incredible...it's as accurate to Last Order Alita as the one I want is to the early volume original series Gally. Like many people here, I fear the result of this upcoming movie. We know very well the extent a Hollywood movie can screw up a good comic book, however Cameron is a hot shot and he may be able create a movie that we like. By the other hand, we all here are worshipers of Alita thus we have so high expectations that we may never be satisfied with the final result. One thing is almost certain: Alita's depiction in the movie will get at least one figure representation so I hope Cameron get that right and we'll finally have a figure of her worth to have a place in our collections.
One last thought: a partnership between Cameron and Tarantino could be the right choice to bring to the screen the kind of movie we would like to see.

From Mandarake? For God's sake, I'm afraid of thinking about the shipment costs.vahid wrote: I bought them from mandarake . gunnm mars chronicle vol.1 and vol.2

Unfortunately, you'll be disappointed when you receive the books, I daresay.

Good to know the shipment costs have been reduced - or the problem is that it is four times the book price to me, in Brazil.vahid wrote: actually I received the books and all of them are in the excellent condition . shipment costs? sal small packet price was very low and they delivered my books in 2 weeks as they said to me . As to the disappointment, I was referring to the book size/format. While Last Order was published in a very elegant book, Kasei Senki looks like manga for children.

I found the technical names:
Last order was published in wideban (ワイド版) format;
Kase Senki is being published in tankôbon (I単行本) format.

Gunnm Mars Chronicle vol.3 . Purchased from "cdjapan"

I love it. now I'm completing my own GUNNM collection.
Re: What Gunnm / Battle Angel stuff/merchandise do you have?
For the fans, I think that definitely is true; but the lay cinema-goer will be where most of the bucks roll into the box office from, so I don't think it will matter. As long as Rosa gives a kick-ass performance, the public will get their action rocks off.Rindain wrote:kamugin wrote: Gah; I hope James Cameron and Rovert Rodriguez make Alita a mostly CG character and that she's the real life version of these statues. I agree about the facial structure; I've spent the better part of a decade looking to find a woman who resembles Gally/Alita (yes, you could say I'm a little obsessed about my favourite manga character). Once I came close, but never found a striking match. I was thinking, perhaps it's because Kishiro has this thing of making his leading characters look different in every frame. Sometimes I could swear, even Alita doesn't look like herself (and I'm not even talking about LO here, just the original BA). I'm wondering if that's why I got so hooked on her in the first place.

is it the facial features youre after? or is it the whole package (height, hair, personality)? alita like most anime characters look super unrealistic, youre basicly looking for a girl with big eyes, a small nose and octo lips. good luck lol. post a picture of the one who came close?
Re: What Gunnm / Battle Angel stuff/merchandise do you have?
I don't look for anime/manga faces in real people (girls) because they are irreal, plus I don't think a girl with "octopus lips" would be very cute. So I have no idea about what expect from an actress portraying Alita, I only hope the choice don't hurt my eyes.

It's interesting that you ask about the Alita lookalike I mentioned, because my cousin just mentioned her to me the other day.

Anyway, I know this is coming across as really geeky, but it's not every day that you stumble across something that strikes you so much in reference to your favourite manga, which you've been inspired by since you were a kid.

As for the romantic relationship, I think there are worse ways to look for a love interest than letting literature inspire you, don't you think? I'd love to find someone just like Alita, but I know that's not likely, so I'll settle for the next best thing, someone who I click with who makes me laugh.

It's interesting that you ask about the Alita lookalike I mentioned, because my cousin just mentioned her to me the other day.I wish I had a pic of this girl - unfortunately I don't see her that often (and I think she's moved to another city now, so it's likely I may not actually see her again
...she's not on Facebook or Twitter far as I know). When I say she is a dead ringer for Alita, I mean in practically everything: hair, eyes, eyebrows, octo lips (hard to believe but true), face shape, body shape (the really long legs on a very short torso), but also in things you can't pin down, like a lot of the expressions Alita makes. (She even has the two pointy eye teeth when she smiles). I wish I had taken a picture of her and sent it to Robert Rodriguez, that's how similar she looked.
Anyway, I know this is coming across as really geeky, but it's not every day that you stumble across something that strikes you so much in reference to your favourite manga, which you've been inspired by since you were a kid.![]()
