I agree with Milliardo. I think that James Cameron, director of such films like Aliens, Terminator, Terminator 2, True Lies and Titanic, a master of action movies and special effects, can make a good film. I know that he has it difficult, because the manga is very philosophical and it's characters are deep and complex. But I am going to have faith in him. Besides, this is good publicity for an underrated and an underground manga.

that and he cant go to far off as the aother of BAA is working with him on the movie(s). so there is more good news for us.

I had higher expectations of the trailer. Was hoping this could be the coolest trailer ever...but it was just a average trailer :/
But the peoples that have seen the 15 min preview of the movie was chocked how good this movie looks.

I'm a huge fan of the original thing and I'm already incredibly tired to explain it to everyone here in every topic related to this movie. I'm AGAINST the BAA movie being made, no matter by whom! Cameron, not Cameron - it does not matter, this movie JUST shouldn't be made. EVER.

Your logic is like this:
The Avatar trailer looks good, so the BAA will look good. True, I don't think that this movie will look bad, but that's not the point!

Point is in the IDEA... Making this movie implies the adaptation of the plot to be more acceptable by the wide masses. Wide masses are mostly stupid. Make your own conclusions, I'll only say that making of this movie is a betrayal of fans, even by it's idea. I'm not even taking in account it's successfullness, which will turn this nightmare even worse, no matter of the outcome - just by the fact of it's existance!

Besides, this is good publicity for an underrated and an underground manga.

This is a NIGHTMARE! The publicity is the last thing I wish for this manga. It's not underrated, it's not underground, it just has it's own fan base, which is RELATIVELY smaller than the other mangas have, that's all. I don't want this manga to have stupid cattle in it's audience, there is Naruto for them!

It's a great masterpiece, it shouldn't be public.
Those, who are searching for it, will find it and build their own opinion about it, but there should be no people, who take it as a fashion: "It's considered to be cool, so I'll read it." and "Everyone thinks that it's cool, so I'll think it's cool too.". That's ridiculous.


Please, read another topics about the BAA movie in this forum, I've written a huge posts there before, which explain everything I've just said in detail - I'm tired to explain it at the 101th time again and again... you have your own mind, I'm not willing to explain it further.

i understand where your coming from but by your logic i should not be a robotech fan then couse i say it on TV first, then read all the books (that was hard just to find them) what will most likely happen is people will go see it and say 'omg thats soo cool' and unless its a godly epic movie like the matrix it will fade over time like all movies do. and so will the nubs with a short attention span. remember there was only a 2 or 3 ep oav not long enough to hold a tweeker that kids are now days.

I wasn't impressed with the trailer(in fact, the trailer killed what tiny interest I had in it) but I am impressed by the fact that the furries were entirely CG but look almost like they could have been real actors. It gets me excited for how the BAA movie will look with this kind of CG.

I haven't noticed anything awesome there, just good shots, not awesome.

What I fear the most is that JC is like... Michael Bay. Movies look incredible, but the idea is null.
I've watched MB's Transformers 2 recently, that was the coolest CG I've ever seen, but the generally dumbest movie I've ever seen.

I fear the same about BAA movie.

Btw, why are "evil aliens" always insectiod and drool lots of slime, while "nice aliens" always look like humans?
Why do they have a nose with 2 holes, lips, a humanoid-shaped face and body, eyes with eyeballs and pupils, they have eyelashes (but no eyebrows, which is stupid, because either you sweat over your skin and both hair-things prevent the water from getting in the eye - or you sweat e.g. like a dog, with your tongue mostly). They hear through ears with auricles, they chew with tooths (34 I bet) and communicate by altering sounds with their tongue and throat. Wow, they are SOOO alien-like. not.
Ah, and I also bet that the women have breasts and that they will wear some kind of bra! lol

I mean, nowadays obviously the CGI can do, and JC wanted to make a superduper CGI movie anyways, so why always those cute-big-eyes where you can always see the actor underneath? Ohhh, they are soo innocent, look at those eyes, like a kitten, what a noble savage! >:-/

Hm, why is this paradise called "Pandora"? The CGI looks great, but storywise its the same lame Hollywood blahblah as always. (goodbye BAA movie)

The pussycats talk with gestures! (like we think indians do (or rather did), after watching too much Western) The woman pussycat has a broad accent, while the man (the avatar) speaks crystal clear! And they're really going to fight against machines with bow and arrow - and they will win, because its a Hollywood movie. Either they'll build Ewok-like traps or some nice Officer will see how bad their doing is and stop the army. Or a native-rights movement (led by a black lesbian) will intervene from earth.
"This is our land!" ahaha yeah right. No its not. The earth civilisation will infect you with every little bacteria we carry, shoot all the animals you eat, break contract after contract and beat you down with superior weapons technology - ah no, that was America, my mistake.
Didn't someone already mentioned that it sound an awfully lot like Pocahontas? Even the music.

But it will be a succes, right. SO maybe the BAA movie will really be postponed.

The best scenario for us so far is:

1) JC makes Avatar 2.
2) JC makes Avatar 3.
3) JC wants to finally make the BAA movie, but he dies, because of being old and due to wasting 10 years at 1) and 2) each.
4) The studio releases the concept arts of BAA.
5) Everyone is happy.

Because the viewer is supposed to sympathize with the nice aliens, and it's almost impossible for the director to achieve that if they're not vaguely humanoid. I thought District 9 did a good job of avoiding this though.

Didn't it say they have superhuman combat ability? That's why they have the avatars in the first place. They're hardly Ewoks at any rate. It's also not unprecedented for people with inferior technology to win military engagements (see the American revolution, Vietnam war)
