The Secret of Kells

Several days ago that film (I don't have a right to call it a cartoon) was recommended to me.

I've finished watching it about 15 minutes ago, it's absolutely incredible. Not so much a story, but stylistics and aesthetics of it. It's heavily conceptual and eye-catching, and the music and the song is mesmerizing. Nearly every frame of it is a work of art!

The most interesting thing is - it's made in the Ireland and Belgium, so the visual style is nordic (so don't expect it to look even close to animes), as well as the spoken accent. Also, it's not the hollywood crap everyone is used to.

However, I've had some problems switching to an english track with the DVD, it's in the Dutch language by default. Anyway, it's totally worth the switching problems.

Here's the trailer (watch in HD only): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMPhHTtKZ8Q

It was a great movie, thanks for this recommendation! Beautiful animations, a calm yet strong story and story-telling - like Int said: absolutely NOT Hollywood. For one second I thought "shit, no english audio with this one" but then I remembered you mentioning some difficulties and tadaa: there was said option. Even though english isn't the original audio I liked their accent, it suited the movie very well. (Unlike broad american-english in a Miyazaki movie, dubbed by so called VIP Hollywood actors!)
I wonder when this picture will be released in cinemas here. Or if ever - but it was an academy award nominee after all so it should have made itself a name.

I have to agree: it is a great film (No! It is not a movie; much more than that).
The accent is not a problem. I daresay it is charming.
(Actually, I should have commented before, but I cannot explain how I forgot.)
