Good call on the Titan Blade back in 112 for those who saw it.
Spoiler:
Was Figure's arm getting wrenched off the most graphic injury shown so far? Even the bone and blood vessels were shown this time.

Worst case, the answer is never. So when a translated Phase 111 comes out a year from now you will be happy that it was sooner than expected.

I'm wondering if YK is doing the flashback arc because he needs time to work on what happens next in the main story and was just sitting on this one for a while or the Kodansha editors are having him do it to follow the trend I've noticed in One Piece and Naruto when they do a flashback arc just before they move forward again with the main story when something really big is about to happen.

I wonder if Figure 4 is getting a cyborg arm or Daisuke still uses Nova's nanotecnology and make his arm grow back. Shall we bet? :D

Thanks a lot, Sam.

Now it is confirmed: the villain is the exterminator Sechs, while the victim is the not up to now mentioned Vier.

The ship in the desert is a very interesting image.

icecaps are heavy and deform the continental crust,
which changed the sea/land ratio and shape;
the moisture of the atmosphere changed;
the two last points leads to climate changes.

in the meantime between the impact and the present era, seas frozed and then moved while they melted and probably huge earthquakes happened when the continental plates adjusted. hence, sunken boats in the middle of nowhere, aral sea like.

as for the arm, definitely robotics :D

Awesome chapter!

Great action, nice landscape shots and the hunter turned out to be who i hoped. Looks like i was right about the Titan Blade.

Also we finaly got to see female Sechs in detail again. This actualy means the first time since the art shift of Volume 4-6 that we got to see her face.

This is where it get's interesting art wise. Since the art shift of volume 4 to 6, the faces have changed slightly on all characters and this is evident in this chapter where the female Sechs has now facial expressions (starting with page 12) much closer to the current male version (just compare the face when she gets hit by Figure Four, that's typcial Sechs). However yukito still manages to keep it feminine and with a touch of Gally when compared to the male body. That was something i wondered about for some time, if he could still do the female Sechs. I especialy like that grin without the shark teeth.

I finaly also noticed what makes Sechs expressions different from both Gally and Elf and Zwoelf. Sechs is actualy proncouning her lower jaw more with her expressions, resulting in a much wider grin and harder appearance.

Also comparing GR-4 to current Gally it's kind of notable that GR-4 is actualy not doing the octopus lips, which is also not present on Elf and Zwoelf.

Nice detail that Sechs is slicing up GR-4 vertical, making sure to destroy the brainchip. However could that mean that GR-2 might actualy still be alive? Also i noticed that the blades of the Titan blade are now looking longer while the stick part is shorter. Nice change aswell.

Talking about it, Sechs sure loves it considering she let's Figure escape when she is concerned about it. Makes me wonder why she left it on Earth? Also funny pose she made when she stormed towards it.

Poor Figure, gave everything but it wasn't enough. Is it just me or was this actualy a call back? Back when Gally met Hugo she started to fear what she might do to him due to her powerfull body. Here we see exactly this happening when Sechs accidently injures Figure.

As for the end of the chapter:
Spoiler:
So, we now learn how Ido and Figure met. Though we now have to wonder if Figure get's a robot arm or if Ido can still clone human body parts like he learned in his Gaiden chapter long ago. Also what the discovery of the Tuneds might mean to them.

Can we really call her Vier? I mean it was Sechs own decession to call herself after the german name of the number on her forhead and apperently Elf and Zwoelf either came up with the same idea or copied it from her. But does that mean we can really now start to call every Tuned after the numbers on their head in german?

For all we know, she might have chosen the name Emilly for herself or Yoko, Alita or Quatro.

i guess when the link with zalem was cut, they translated their number into panzer kunst (=german) terminology, that's all.

Calling her Vier was my decision, I admit, but…

The usage of German is in the entire series, as even Panzer Kunst is a German-named fighting technique, and in HFV04 - Angel of Victory, several fighting techniques described have their names in German. Also, Yoko was born on Mars, a German language territory, and it is only natural that she uses German many times.

Considering that the thunds were produced under Bigott Eizenburg's (a guy with a German name) command, it is not a mystery why he named the replicas in German. Anyway, I cannot understand why you say Sechs herself decided on pronouncing her name in German.

Actualy that makes kind of sense and would explain how Elf and Zwölf came up with their names.

Now that i think about it, the names of the Tuneds and Gally's designation where always written as numbers instead of letters right? G-1, GR-2, etc.

Perhaps and you are right and Bigott actualy always called them with german numerals. G-Eins, GR-Zwei/Zwo.

So instead of keeping the GR (Gally Replica) they only took their numbers.

Oh damn, i never considered that.

By the way, i just realised something.

You guys remember my crazy "Sechs takes Figure Four as inspiration idea" from last month? Well i just checked. Sechs lost her right arm to Elf and Zwölf. Now
Spoiler:
check which arm Figure loses.

I have a question... Why do you call them Thunds?

The original Japanese and the Viz editions calls the unit "TUNED" and the androids "TUNED AR Series 2" (or "TUNED GR Series 2" in Japanese). Just check page 12 of this RAW chapter.

I had to check in order to give you an answer, as my memory is not exactly an encyclopedia.

As I have always said, I am not going to comment the original edition for obvious reasons.

In our edition, GLO01, page 131 (who translated that?), Sechs is identified as a mass-produced thund, and the footnote identifies a thund as a warrior android created by GIB using the fighting data from Gally.

You are right about Viz edition.

Actually, your question is pertinent. The word became ingrained in my brain, but I have no additional information on it. Additionally, I have just looked for it in the web, unsuccessfully.

Actually i think that "Tuned" is the correct translation, since, if i don't recall bad, in the original serie is pretty evident that the name of Tuned Agent come after the ability of they bodies to "tune up" with salem's saltellite bridge and so recieve orders, data and weaponry from salemite operators.

TUNED is used in the original manga and in Martian memory. It's actually written in caps as 「TUNED」. (http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E9%8A%83%E5%A4%A2)

That is not the point. My point now is to understand where the translator found that word thund, even because I am starting to realize he invented it, as I cannot find it anywhere.

While we are at pointing out every little detail and differences, i have a more productive one.

I noticed Sechs is only using one and the same arm the whole chapter long. When driving, when shooting while driving, while using the Titan Blade, while wrestling Figure. It's always the same right arm as if the other is missing. Which is strange since the right arm is the one that got cut off.

hmmm, cover isn't the left hand on the right of the windscreen, and bottom left of page 9 that shadow could only be a left hand i think

That's the windscreen being damaged and the cloak being visible, no clear hand on the cover.

Page 9 is a bit more difficult since there seems to be a shoulder and arm making it a look like there are both arms holding the blade and the left arm trusting out. Though because of the rotation and it happening behind a cloak it might also be the right arm with the lower body being twisted around more.

Still for the rest it's clearly only the right arm the whole time.

Also i wonder what might happen to Figure's pack, since it's visibly flying away when the car crashes.
