Last Order; fresh and exciting or blasphemy?

I realy love the original Battle Angel Alita ending. It may be a bit hasty and corny, but I can handle that. When I learned that Last Order would partly be a remake I was afraid...would it destroy one of my favourite endings?

Now I've read up to volume five (thanks to ripper and crazyankan), however, I still can't realy say I've made up my mind yet.
I like both the original and LO but for different reasons. LO contains many cool fights and characters (I love sechs in the interface doll), comedy and exploring of the BAA universe. My favourite part so far has to be the flashbacks to Alita's childhood, it's nice to see how she became the warrior she is. This also has a negative side...it takes away a large part of the mystery of BAA. We grow to know and like Alita although we didn't know anything about her...

What do you think?

For me it's a little different..
I read BAA quite long time ago and liked it a lot, and now i have read it again with LO continuation and it's like a new story for me :D
I always feel down when i finish reading good manga so that may be part of the reason why i like LO so much :3

( P.S.: The way she grows-up .... r0x! ) xD

It is a new story, but in the form of a remake. That's why I want to compare them!
I always feel, on the contrary, happy, when I finish a good manga! You should too...be happy to have been able to read a good story and look forward to new experiences! There's so much good manga out there... :D

I really love the new manga. I didn't like much the firts ending because i feel that it was just too sudden. Now we can learn more about the Gunnm universe and what really happened in Mars. The only thing that i didn't like was Lou'finaldestiny, even though Alita is trying to rescue what is left of her i prefer the original.

Well thats the reason why Alita goes forward at first so it doesnt bother me too much.. it makes sense this way (still.. original Lou destiny was nicer) :\

Well we don't realy know the outcome yet...anyway, I like dark "twists" (not much of a twist though >_> ) in stories, so I kinda liked this.

It does feel like something Alita would do, go rescue her buddy from the evil computer in space kinda thing, but I feel it's a kinda lame start of a story arc. The first part, the battle in the mid-air city, was awesome, but Alita going to rescue someone I haven't quite gotten attatched to (those radio transmissions were funny and the pushed the story, but Lou wasn't that charismatic) feels...loose, I don't know if I will be bothered by the outcome.
The diversion tournament is cool though.

Heeeey, LO is not some kind of remake at all, it's a part of main storyline that took place just after Alita was given a second birth by Nova and before KETHERES turned into Nanomachine Tree...

P.S. use google for more info ;)

No, LO is a remake. Check out Yukito Kishiro's website where he basically explains the circumstances regarding what happened.

Short version is, he didn't like the ending and wanted to finish it 'properly'.

Last order being done at all is a miracle in itself. I for one am extremely thankful we are given a chance to be told this wonderful story that Yukito has taken so much time and effort(along with the ppl at this website) to bring to us
