Barring an Avatar 4 and assuming he doesn't push it back again, but some news is better than no news I guess.

I think they will push back that production date even more and more, after awhile the movie will be dropped.

If they decides to make a movie, I hope they don't remake the story too much. Like Alita jumps of the Tiphares cable and saves Hugo or something.
And make scrapyard look really dark, depressing, "blade runner-ish" and filled with some music references. http://www.nick15.com/kudos.html

It is total BS...expect Avatar delays.

Also...Zoey Saldana is Busy, with a capital B. She is shooting Guardians of the Galaxy right now and even if it bombs, it is guaranteed to plug her into AT LEAST one other movie with a high priority, even over the great James Cameron. The Disney/Marvel machine is the unstoppable force in Hollywood right now.

That, plus criticism of the new Star Trek's performance being a little soft due to too much time between the two Star Trek movies, which means expect Star Trek 3 in summer '16.
I predict that she will have schedule conflicts with the fucking retarded underwater bullshit shooting he has plans for (which everyone knows will slow things down)

...and who here wants the movie to be about Motorball...I mean, it was a high point that was surpassed by the Tiphares secret...etc...a Llllongggggggg time ago.

oops...Star Trek is 50 years old in 2016...sounds like something to shoot for. That makes it worse...lol.

Not I'm saying that I prefer Saldana for the lead role, but whoever is cast could still do the voice and motion capture.

Avatar 4 to come out in 2017, so who knows.

If this is real, I did not like it. It did not work.

I'm pretty sure that's fan-made, it doesn't look professional at all. If GUNNM gets a live action (some day) I hope the studio puts a little more effort into it...

I just want the movie to come out already so it opens up the possibility of getting a full anime.

Can we all agree Willem Dafoe would make a perfect Desty Nova? I mean:

I kinda wish that they just yank the licence right from Jame Cameron, because that director or whatever he want to call himself, i think he planning to hog it and probably use it if Avatar 2 bombs. Which meant, he probably do Alita, because he know that there are a lot of hypes in it and probably plan to cash in on it.

And if I'm reading his filmography right, i doubt he probably has the right mindset to make BAA or even make it decent. And I'm crossing my fingers that his adaptions doesn't fall where M.Shithead did with "The Last Airbender" movie.

But, in all honesty, do we REALLY want to wait 2 years for him to make BAA? In which time, I'm sure that we've all probably either forgotten about it or someone else has made a more decent fan-made films that we're all probably pushing for?

But in all honesty, I think I figured a way around his old on the Licensing right holder...just film it in a different regions, title it in the original language of JPN and release it here in USA under that title.

i've been waiting for him to make up his mind for 15years+, i don't really care at this point.

the only thing i look forward to, is an aerial view of the scrapyard with Zalem floating above it. That alone will put me in a trance like state of mind ^^

Same here. I have some respect for Cameron, and I get that his love children come first, but I don't believe he's a fan of Gunnm anymore. And if he is, he's definitely an egotistical kind of fan. If Gunnm is low priority and he's so absorbed by Avatar sequels and filming the bottom of the ocean, why not hand over the licence to somebody else? I mean, Gunnm on its own is pretty obscure, but I'm sure that by now more people in the industry are aware now that Cameron has his hands on the rights, so maybe he's not the only decent director who's interested?

Robert Rodriguez in Talks to Direct Cameron's Live-Action Battle Angel Alita Film
The Hollywood Reporter reported on Wednesday that Robert Rodriguez (El Mariachi, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Sin City, Spy Kids) is in negotiations to direct the live-action film adaptation of Yukito Kishiro's Battle Angel Alita (GUNNM) manga. The film will is currently titled Alita: Battle Angel.

James Cameron and Jon Landau are producing the project. Cameron reaffirmed last year that he will not work on Battle Angel Alita until he has finished directing the sequels to his Avatar film, which are in pre-production.

Shutter Island's Laeta Kalogridis has penned a script for the project.

Kishiro's manga ran in Shueisha's Business Jump magazine from 1990 to 1995, followed by the 1995-1996 follow-up Ashen Victor and the single-volume GUNNM: Other Stories. The story continued in 2001 with the partial retelling Battle Angel Alita: Last Order, which moved to Kodansha's Evening magazine as the result of an issue between Kishiro and Shueisha's Ultra Jump magazine. The newest manga, Gunnm: Kasei Senki (Battle Angel Alita: The Martian War Chronicles), launched in Kodansha's Evening magazine last year.
I still think that Quentin Tarantino is the only one who should direct a Gunnm movie :P him or George Miller.

Tarantino? Well, I would say that he likes to exaggerate with bloodbaths, but after Inglorious Bastards I learned that he can narrate in a cleaner environment.

Anyway, Robert Rodriguez, Quentin Tarantino or Zack Snyder are good to me. They all have ability to direct actors, so any of them will certainly do better than Cameron Himself.

Long Live Gunnm!
