New release from Team Pixie Dust!
This release has some really nice color pages in them.
Also, this is a full chapter, so it's not split into 2 parts.

Unless he wants I myself to kill him.

And by the way, should we call her, "Android Gally" or would "Gynoid Gally" be more appropriate? :P

To start with, it is difficult to define her as a non-human being. I would certainly consider her as that. Although she does not have an organic brain, she DOES have a human brain, with identity, memories, instincts, intelligence as so on.

Anyway, andro is a Greek prefix referring to male humans (and so there is the andrologist). The term for female humans is gyno/gynao (and so there is the gynaecologist). The fact is that the word android was invented by someone who confused the Greek prefix, as he should have coined anthropoid (anthro = man, the species).

In short, Olympe was a gynoid [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gynoid], but in Sechs' case it is really difficult to define. :D

Jokes apart, i wasn't implying that Android Gally is not to be considered a human behing or, more extensively, a person (which is actually the main theme of the opera, in my opinion, what is the nature of a person). But since we now have two distinct instances of Gally (the one from Last Order, 100% artificial and the one from the original Gunnm, now 100% biological with her new flesh and blood body) i think whe need a name for each of them, hoping that we will see the Biological Gally again sometime in the story.

I wouldn't be happy if she (the biological one) was just to be dumped on earth to rise kids with Figure 4 and we never hear of her again. I mean, SHE is the person who found the human behing behind the moster Makaku, she is the one who fell in love with Jugo, she is the one who run on motorball circuits and faced Jashugan, she is the one whom Zapan held grudge with, she is the one Salem recruited and sent against the Barjack, she was the one downing Den and destroing the Granite Inn. She even was the one who's childhood we read until now.

As i pointed in another topic, Android Gally is a person of her own, as Sechs is, and as Elf and Zwolf are.

I think Kishiro shouldn't forget about this and go on like Android Gally is the only Gally and Biological Gally is just a Trophy Happy Ending for Figure 4.

Anyway, she would be a gynoid, then, once no matter if biological or mechanic, she is not a transvestite.

Yeah, i know, but as u said, "android", although incorrectly, has been made to cover the role of "anthropoid", so it covers both genders, as a state of art.

Thanks for the TL!!!

So some things confirmed. I have to say that even with the discussion around the raw and seeing the official confirmation, I was expecting much more buildup to the Alita/Erica reunion after all these years and wasn't anticipating that it would happen this early on. So the big reveal, while welcome, turns out to be lower key than expected. Well, we still have Super Nova and Tzykrow waiting in the wings to be unveiled.

My guess is we get a scene or so of the family doing family things, like what was done with Shumira and her brood. Brain chip Alita wanted her organic brain self to have peace and ruining that would be screwed up. But so was Kayna's death. :x

I'm particularly interested with Alita's mission on Venus. Also finding out Trinidad wasn't the be all end all villain is interesting. Who could have eluded even Caerula to such an extant.

But it is Gally we are talking about. The original Gally. The indomitable Gally. Have she ever let anyone decide her destiny for her? Can anyone keep her out of throubles if she feels it's her business to care?

Ok, i must admit i'm very bugged with having 2 Gallys around. I hoped that in the end of Last Order her brainchip would have been somehow merged with her brain.

Maybe she can learn anti-cyborg martial arts?

The split bugged me too a bit. IDK how YK could have plausibly merged the two at the end of Last Order though without extending the series for who knows how many volumes and at that point, people wanted the ZOTT to be over. By splitting between the brain chip one and fully moving forward with her while wrapping things up with the fully organic version who is reunited with Figure, that closes that part of the story. And all the god mode stuff would be hard to justify with a flesh and blood brain. Sure Ping could step up to Trinidad but he was an exception.

If Erica is hackproof, that will be something to see.

Having 2 Alita's is pretty clever, I think. This is a different history from the original and instead of just arguing "Alita isn't she used to be", you can argue that is a complete different character. It's a more organic way to separate the different narratives between HFV and LO. Nice chapter btw, my only disappointment is this whole conspiracy thingy, it's a very cheap way to increase the stakes in this new arc.

And I'm sad to see those DBZ-esque power levels introduced in ZOTT are still there. Now it turns out that Erica can face against "cheap Alita" in a fair fight? lol

Indeed. Writing responsibly is important. Otherwise; people will consider the sun of the beach as the son of the bitch.

Welp, I used that word... In fighting games (or gaming in general) when a character is too powerful is usually called 'cheap'. I wasn't aware you guys weren't familiar with that expression, my apologies.

Really? I wasn't aware. Usually when u define someone "cheap" u imply he is either a person with a low personal value, insignificant, or someone who is easely available when it comes to intercourse.

I though u misstyped "chip" referring to Gally's brainchip.

I disagree about the conspiracy thing. At first glance it looks cheap but I found the use if the term 'dasein' very intruiging. Dasein is a philosophical term, used by Martin Heidegger, and it litterly means: there being' but Heidegger means human precsence or human existence that relate, influence and interact with the world around them through actions (think of it as in the way Descartes described (his) humanity, or perhaps his being human,: I think, therefore I am). Imho 'exist' in the translation doesn't quite cover the scope of the term.
Enfin, he used the term 'dasein' at one hand but there was also the notion of 'einhenjar' which is the other end of the spectrum: uncarnate beings that where at one time humans but left it all behind and more or less is the opposite of the coin, since they recede inside a metaphysical plane ( a plane beyond our perception which could be heaven, hell, Walhalla, Yersey Shore, etc).

Very intruiging this episode was.

Does flesh and blood define if you are human is an interesting question. (is the flesh Alita more human than the gynoid/android Alita?)
Kishiro went there already a few times but never let Alita find the answer (which, since it is philosofy is, pretty much impossible) I wonder how he will tackle it this time. Does Yoko (still) exist (as a seperate being?).
This episode gave quite some food for thought :-)

Btw. I was (also) wondering if the flesh Alita still can perform Panzerkunst since it's a cyborg combat technique? Could she still fight at full strenghts or would her body not be ableto handle the strain?

Is it really so surprising though? Erica has lived a much longer life span then Alita has and it's already implied that she was her better can in the old days to begin with.

They are nearly the same age, but Erica doesn't have memory loss and who knows what she cooked up in 200 years, since she can even take on plasma and very few other opponents are able to effectively counter it. This is why the god mode with the power of Melchizedek, the wormhole core, and a regenerating body are needed.

Erika and Gally have roughly the same age, but Alita have been in stasis for 200 years, about. so Erika lived, trained and gained experience for about 230 years. My calculation: Erika was about 10 years old or little less when she met Yoko, they must have started training panzer kunst a little later, first time we see them training Erika looks about 12-14. When Yoko is in mission to Ieru, she looks in her early 20's. Now, that can be inaccurate, since she always had a fully artificial body, but it's often stated that she was a young girl, so probably 20 is plausible age. So the girls must have trained Panzer kunst for about 10 years. 200 years passes from then to the beginning of Gunnm and the whole arc from when Ido find Gally and GMC chapter 7 is about 20 years long.

So, Erika has about 230 years of expertise, whici is about 2 times Zekka's, while Gally merely 30.

Btw. I was (also) wondering if the flesh Alita still can perform Panzerkunst since it's a cyborg combat technique?
Likely, some of it. Panzer Kunst is a vibrations based technic, and Figure 4 is perfectly able to use a very similar vibrating anti-cyborg technic. Gally is probably still a decent menace for most of Scrapyard's Cyborgs.
Could she still fight at full strenghts or would her body not be ableto handle the strain?
Most definately not. She no longer has superhuman strenght, almost indestructible body and supersound speed. She is now as stron as a well fit girl, which is really not much. Enough to use an anti-cyborg technic like Figure's, based on an hit and run strategy but not to overpower cyborgs like before.

Actually it would be great to see Gally training martial human martial arts with Figure and Taurus Four.

Actually, I cannot believe she would last long in real world. After a whole life with mechanical bodies (including states of the art like berserker, tuned and imaginos bodies), she lacks the subtlety to wear a biological body. She would soon break everything, once she is used to fast and strong strikes and movements, and humans many times react according to the instinctive memory.
