We are learning about Yoko/Gally, but we are also learning a lot about Erica/Frau X.

They get back together at some point.

Alita's state: possibly the same, maybe older.
Erica's state: pretty fucked up seeing what she's gone through. (with the murdering and all)

I have to disagree. It is true that Yoko will kill Erica, but they will no longer be children, and we still don't know what exactly will result in Erica's death.
Also, in the first volumes of Last Order we had some flashbacks showing Erica continually protecting Yoko in Grünthal, and as Tzycrow says in volume 7, "you were a slow and useless piece of trash, from when you were a child, always running behind Erica."

That's an interesting analogy. The only difference is that Alita is an actual character, Batman is pretty much a plot device at this point.

All this batman discussion, makes me think the series might have a killing joke story.

Where Alita wants to help Erica in the future, but Erica might refuse and think she reached the point of no return.

But I just see it as just a possibility in the end.

Erica is being slowly molded by Muster and you know the two will meet again. Who says that Yoko doesn't follow Erica in her evil ways and, to stay with the Batman/Joker analogy, they both become the Joker. Alita was a merciless killer, terrorist and massmurderer. She sent willingly and knowingly a lot of people to their death during operation Maulwürfe. The falling out between the two might have come a lot later. And about Yoko/Alita's remark that she killed Erica, couldn't she have meant that because of her actions (getting caught and not committing suicide) every Künstler was killed during the attack on Grünthal.

It should be biweekly, or better, half a chapter a fortnight, as Gunnm is supposed to have one chapter a month, but don't trust that.
