In Last Order, volume 13, Sans Angel, page 37, that "vehicle" was translated as takoshi, combining tako and takkushi.

Then it was not translated at all.

If anything, we should either translate Octo-Taxi into English, since English seems to be LADDER's official language, or French, since the Republic of Venus is francophonic... I don't think Japanese is used much in Kishiro's universe...

I agree, but as you are aware, generic does not mean correct. I know I am stubborn, but I cannot see why to insist with wrong terms.

Takoshi does remember taxi, but I could live with octo-taxi or anything. My point is that I dislike changing already established vocabulary. Anyway, let's wait for Guren's decision.

From an official standpoint, Viz uses the term "Octo-Taxi".

From a story standpoint, neither LADDER nor the Republic of Venus would call it "Takoshi", since they use English and French, respectively.
