Ohh I see.

I'm sorry, I didn't tell you, my version of Duckstation is libretro, I use Batocera to play with a Raspberry Pi.

Yeah, when the screen goes black there is no spinning disc.

Thanks!

Ok swapped the ISO with the unpatched scene file and got the scene working...so its not the executable or the font, probably...
I'm going to look into the scene file itself, maybe somethings messed up in there.

Hi :). I've been following your doings for a very long time and I'm impressed by the amount of work you've undertaken. Great job! :good: I've been testing the new ISO file for a two days now, and what I've noticed is the lack of some soundtracks, for example in the original version of the game the preview of the game map was accompanied by nice music (See 26:24):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCNbUELHViM

The intro of the game, the one that comes on after some time of inactivity in the game's start menu, also had background music. I'm sorry but unfortunately I don't know what these errors are caused by...

Yeah i think i know what the problem is.
It has to do with the mastering of the ISO.
Every mastering program seems to have its bugs...

I'll try to get it fixed tomorrow

Yeah, I guess it takes time to get used to the quirks of every program.

But no rush, we are here to help, so it's alright.

Thanks!

Yeah thats a fact.

I think i have the problem fixed.
There is one older mastering tool that gave me an almost 1:1 duplicate.
But there is a bug that the file creation times are not carried over.
Not an issue, but it also hides all files and folders.

My toolchain just got a little longer, but apart from the creation times it now looks fixed.
There is music in all the areas mentioned and the fights now load as well.
Let me see in i can push out a new ISO tonight.

Cool, I will try to test it tomorrow.

Today's work was quite intense and I prefer to just chill out for a while :)

Good job!

Cheers.

Super stoked that this project is progressing! I've been a fan of Battle Angel/Gunnm since I was a kid, so I really appreciate all the work you've put in. Since nobody else has weighed in on it already, I know I'd personally really appreciate an alternate Modern/Kodansha version of the patch with the original names like Alita and Zalem vs. Gally and Tiphares, if it's not going to be a huge undertaking for you. I look forward to seeing how this polishes up, and can't wait for an "official" release.

It is strange that you either had wrong names in any version, because the original names are Gally & Zalem. Here in Spain we got the original names right away when the manga was released.

It would be nice to keep the original names from the japanese version :)

Ok, I just finished the game, and by the way amazing game from the begining to the very end :)

The freezes were fixed but the last part of the game isn't translated. By the last I mean from the final sequence where the picture renders start to appear,
Spoiler:
after beating the last boss the second time
, but it's even more frustrating as many japanese characters are replaced by a weird "u" character, so I can't even translate what they are saying :(.

I hope that's fixable and I can beat the game once again, but first I need to raise Gally to the max (which needs A LOT of chips lol).

If you need the save at the end, I can give you, no problem :)

Yes i have to find that scene. i probably forgot to do one. No problem.

[edit]
Found the file. It has a different extension so it didn't get harvested by my crawler.
Its translated and i'll make a new ISO this weekend along with other minor fixes

That's nice.

By the way, I saw the omake mode and it is also partially untranslated, maybe it has the same problem.

Thank you! ^_^

Kudos!, I just tested the ending and it's perfect :)

Do you plan on fixing the translation pronouns and other minor typos? it's a lot of work indeed, but I don't know, maybe you had it planned once the translation was ok from the beginning to the end.

My mother language isn't english, but I may be of some help in case you need.

Thank you so much for the effort and time you took for allowing the masses to enjoy this amazing anime/manga with this great game.

I still consider the translation Alpha, so it needs good quality checking.
Yeah the main goal first is to get it 100% playable which is now archieved.
Now the finishing touches scriptwise and iron out visuals ingame.

When it hits v1.0 its done or good enough.

Hi! I would like to report that it seems to crash when it tries to load the part when Hugo dies, just after the roof on top of factory 33.
I play on the Psp if that helps.
But it does seem to work on Duckstation with the exact same files, so I guess it might be a limitation of the psp.

Are you using the latest v0.17 alpha?
Earlier 2 versions had a checksum issue in the ISO, so that might cause some problems.

Can't seem to reproduce the problem on 2 emulators.

The PSP requires a different iso format right?
What do you use to convert the .cue/.bin file?
There is probably a problem there.

Exactly, that's the weird part. I used the exact file from the psp but in the duckstation emulator and had no problems at all.

Well i put out the question on the discord along with a memorycard save.
I'll hear if there is a problem or not.

But you didn't have to convert the game image for the PSP?
Like from .bin to .iso or something?

I don't own a PSP so i don't really know how it works.
