Oh, yes, I have certainly seen.
Actually, I should have commented before, but I have been in a hurry, recently.

You have done a great work, I daresay, fixing the links, removing the repeated lines, correcting special characters and fixing the image bug. In short, a great work.

As to open it to the public, certainly. That is the main reason for it to exist.

Ok i have opened up the wiki.

There are a few quirks i have to iron out, nothing major.
I'll post a sticky/link or something on the forum.
I won't post it on the website itself, since all the BAA fans are lurking on the forums anyway.
No need to expose it too much to the world.

First of all: WOW! This is not only great but also very well done. And it hapened so quick, it feels as if you secretly worked on this all the time and just now you decided to present it to the public

Now for the issues:^^
- The serach-function isn't working properly. Seach for "Alita", search for "Sechs", ...
- at the main page, there should be a little link: Go to random article, and maybe an overview of "the 10 most important articles for the BAA-universe" or something like that - just so that you can dive in instantly.
- also at the main page, you should include some info, like "This wiki currently has XXX articles", "This is a Wikipedia about a Manga called 'Battle Angel Alita'" (or something like that). We have to check other wikis, what they're doing on their frontpage
- finally, but not very important, we need a cool header for the main page - the question would be which picture would fit for this purpose...

- Search function... well i tested both its native and full words MySQL searching and indeed "Alita" is not on top
Remember i removed the header's because of the double titles...well there is a setting to DISABLE that >_>
So i might have to put all headers back again (not big of a deal)

- Random article... i'm sure there is a module for that...sooo much to set and choose from.
- 10 most important... Go edit! Feel free to add one
- Wiki counter...again let me see if there is a module for that...and a better description IS needed, again feel free to add one
- Skinning the wiki in total BAA style i couldn't agree more! Doesn't have to reflect my site, can be totally BAA!


Anyway i'll run the script in reverse to ADD header's and disable that "display the page title in bigass text" option maybe the search will go better.

Meh i wrote that when i found out the musicvotings were abused by some to a great extend.
Like with all anonymous posting things its does get abused.

Putting it on the main menubar is like advertising it to all the trolls out there.
I was thinking of putting a bigass link on the forum where all the BAA fans reside anyway.
Maybe i'm a bit paranoid...

I could make the wiki so you need to register before posting.
But that would deter a lot of people from posting.

On the other hand registered people can be idiots too, and i do have reCaptcha active for bots etc.
Lets see how this goes with it in the open...

But registration shouldn't take too long and people are used to registering everywhere now. This way, bots are kept out and one can feed his ego by showing at a personal page how many articles he created and/ or styled, if he likes.
What about putting the link on the credit page of the next release? (like, in summer 2011 xD)

Threw in a couple of modules to make it all work.
I also tinkered with the pagestyle.
For fun i put in a wallpaper someone posted in the imageboard.
The color looked nice and the image too

Anyway nothing too exciting, but still its a start.

Yay, thanks ! Looks promising, I'll play around, see what I can do with it.

But I've got this "Plugin execution pending approval" ("This plugin was recently added or modified. Until an editor of the site validates the parameters, execution will not be possible.") error instead of the infobox, while previewing my tries.

edit: How about that ? "(????X)" is supposed to be "(フラウ・X)", but it looks like japanese isn't supported.

Lemonlol before you go all apeshit, i MADE backups

With that out of the way, there were some really weird things going on in the database.
3 different table encodings....utf-8 (which it SHOULD be), latin1 SWEDISH....uhm ok....and some had the standard latin.

Now i this is why japanese isn't going to work...everything should be utf-8 client/database/everything
I am reinstalling the database from scratch and going to do another import.
So i need to setup the wiki from scratch.
Give me a few minutes

Ok japanese editing is fixed!
Not sure how/why but i HAVE seen japanese text before in articles...

Probably the upgrade from 1.8 -> 6.1 had a few flaws in em >_>
Anyway brand new database, setup the entire wiki from scratch.
The only thing imported were users and posts.
I didn't import the history's.

The box in "Frau X" look good!

As i said before, there will be a lot of manual checking/editing.
There is no magic converter that can do everything flawless.

Yay, thanks for everything, Ripper !

Not now, not in a few days, but somewhere in a near future, will we be able to build "templates" (for characters / places / events / etc.) ? It should be the most convenient, once we all agree on a particular pages' formatting.

Ok i sort of figured out the template thing.

Now when you edit a page, on top you see [Edit page][Properties]
Click properties -> Apply template -> Select the one i made.

This will add it to the page, but requires modification to suit your needs.
Still it saves a lot of typing and copy/paste.

Adding templates is an admin task only that cannot be shared to editors for some reason.
So if a template is made, it should be posted to me or crazyankan to be added.
For an admin only function, it seems to work for editors too...

Actually, I should have released an updated edition just after GLO15 was released. As I had lots of problems with my job, I couldn't dedicate time and attention to it. Anyway, I do intend to go on with the glossary, as I believe many people would like to have it downloadable.

Can you make 2 additions to your glossary:

In the article of Nietzsche, you should add - "The Mind is nothing but a Plaything of the Body" is actually a paraphrase (or misquote) of "The awakened, the enlightened man says: I am body entirely, and nothing beside; and soul is only a word for something in the body. Your body is a great intelligence... Your little intelligence, brother, which you call "spirit", is also an instrument of your body, a little instrument and toy of your great intelligence" from Nietzsche's Thus Spake Zarathustra. It's actual meaning is that the mind and soul are completely illusory products of one's physical brain and body.

And, according to Cailon, Gehirn Umbau is a mistranslation of Gehirnumbau (brain alteration/modification). While Wett Zeug is a mistranslation of Wettrennen Zeug (racing gear). Each in their respective pages.

The term is never mentioned during the story, but it appears at the bottom of the bonus pages (what the wiki calls the Forgotten Pages) in the reprint of Angel of Victory, which I scanned in for my own use.

Let me add, though, that Wettrennen Zeug is just a guess
And I'm a little lost at coming up with a better term because there simply is nothing like Motorball in the real world A race that involves people on foot, yet moving with machines, being not only "equipped" with racing gear but having their whole body altered.^^

It's cool that you still update the portable version. Like this we have two sources and wiht people (hopefully) writing in the wiki, maybe someday one can add stuff from the other version and vice versa, who knows?
