Burning Martian Memory to disk & playing on PS1
Has anyone downloaded Martian Memory, burned it to CD, and played it on their PS1? I used Nero to burn the image file (.cue) to a CD, hooked up the Action Replay to my PS1 and booted up like I normally would for any ripped PS1 game, but MM doesn't start. I did take a look a closer look at the CD-ROM using the Action Replay and most of the files I looked at came back with errors saying something like the file format is not recognized. I haven't tried mounting the game on my PC using Daemon Tools yet since I figure it would be easier for gameplay to have a controller available and I don't have one for the PC. Thanks!

Here is what I Know. To use the ps1 with a Japanese import, (which is what that game is) you have to get a MOD chip in order for it to have a memory location that the disk will try and verify.
There used to be a disk from a group, Codebreakers that would make the PS1 emulate the Japanese version.
You might get lucky and find it on Ebay.
Good Hunting, it is worth the hassel. I still play the game on a very heavy MODed PS2.
High Def port and Sim Surround on my home theater system.
Absoulute pain in the butt when you are in the Martian wilds.

Hmmm its been awhile back, but i did play the game on my unmodded ps2.
I had one of those "swap magic" dvd's "Breaker Pro" with a slide card to swap out the game.
It should work.
Not sure if i used clonecd back in the day to write those games.
Something about writing uncorrected 1:1 with the intentional errors the manufacture put on there for copy protection.
Emulator for pc also works.

Re: Burning Martian Memory to disk & playing on PS1
The Action Replay that I mentioned above enables me to play ripped games through disc swapping, i.e. the PS1 will boot with a legit disc, the Action Replay will tell the PS1 that this disc is legit, then the ripped disc is inserted then started through the Action Replay menu. It was a rare instance where a game didn't work using this method, literally less than a handful out of a couple dozen games IIRC. If I had the original game this is the same method I would use to play it.
This is the first time I've actually created a game disc myself using the provided .cue and .bin files, so if my process is off, please let me know. I'll attempt burning at a slower speed (burned at 48x the first time) and mounting with Daemon Tools.

A quick google:
http://club.myce.com/f34/when-do-i-use- ... dao-68892/
* Download trial of alcohol 120% http://trial.alcohol-soft.com/en/downloadtrial.php and burn game at 1x, Disc At Once/96
Nero try this:
Recorder -> Burn Image
uncheck "determine maximum speed"
uncheck "simulation"
check Write
check finalize disc (greyed out later)
check verify written data
select lowest posible write speed (most say 1x, but this maybe old news)
write method: Disc At Once/96
check buffer underrun protection.
This should write uncorrected discs.

Thanks! Alcohol worked - the version of Nero I'm not using doesn't allow me to get into the detail outlined with burning images. Now to get some FAQs and translations and such printed out 2x sided...

I have to say that although booting up still takes about 1/3 to 1/4 chances, cheat codes for money and health are working.
