Thanks for the heads up, it is something different. Probably the most vibrant cover yet.

So Kodansha's picking up where the tankobon left off. If I can swing it, I'll ask at the Viz Media panel at FanimeCon this weekend what happens now with their licensing of LO.

Huh, a cover already when there aren't enough chapters yet, at all?

Hm anyway. 8) It looks kinda old school, doesn't it? With Ketheres in the background... (although I don't know why where this sudden reference to the surface stems from). Also, it looks like they follow through with the slightly changed LO-logo. It may be only a small pic but it seems as if the manga's name would be just "Last Order", with "Gunnm" in kanji only.

Yukito posted recently the "large" version of the cover, it seems that is was done the 13th of february!! So indeed with not enough chapters yet!
We can also see a part of a picture including M'badi's face.

I said if I can swing it. Other events and waiting in line for the Masquerade came up on Sunday, so I didn't go, although TBH, I forgot about it. ;) But, I had a hell of a time. No BAA cosplayers although I saw someone wearing a shirt. Going back next year! :D

Since Viz website doesn't have info about GLO #15, I'll try e-mailing them.

I would be very surprised if you got an answer from them  (I never have).
This is all the info so far:

I emailed them a few months back asking if the change in publishers to Kodansha would affect their future releases of LO past vol. 15. No response.

Maybe if they get enough inquiries the SOBs will actually say something.

This cover looks quite strange - her face is completely different.

Also, YK hasn't got rid of this idiotic tail yet. Arrrrrgh!

Mixed feelings about that cover. The recent colouring trend, very orange and pinkish, is starting to bug me. Same for her expression, which seems a little fake (may be from the small resolution, though).
the rest is ok, and well composed.

The cover, "Independence War", is already available in Yukito's Japanese language version site.
The colors are completely out of Yukito's standard, I dare say.

Over at a german board, a friend of mine posted the Oricon manga charts of 05/23/11-05/29/11. GLO 16 is selling already, indeed!

01. Billy Bat 6 - 134.909
02. Genshiken 10: Nidaime no I - 121.804
03. Deadman Wonderland 10 - 115.978
04. Mei-chan no shitsuji 15 - 82.265
05. One Piece 62 - 68.393 [total: 2.767.056] (4th week)
06. Shinrei Tantei Yakumo 5 - 67.325
07. Boku wa tomodachi ga sukunai 2 - 61.948
08. Kekkaishi 24 - 59.870 [total: 218.394] (2nd week)
09. Barakamon 4 - 59.441 [total: 94.332] (2nd week)
10. Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu 14 - 57.758
11. STEEL BALL RUN 23 - 48.191 [total: 189.606] (2nd week)
12. Daiya no A: Ace of Diamond 26 - 47.398 [total: 185.879] (2nd week)
13. Five 5 - 44.391
14. Yume miru Taiyou 9 - 42.809
15. Ao no Exorcist 1 - 39.837 [total: 349.213] (8th week)
16. Mahou Sensei Negima! 34 - 38.617 [total: 187.379] (2nd week)
17. Rozen Maiden 5 - 38.051
18. Ikusa no ko ~ Oda Saburou Nobunaga-den ~ 1 - 37.430 [total: 66.143] (2nd week)
19. Battle Angel Alita: Last Order 16 - 36.823
20. 5-ji kara 9ji made 3 - 36.728
21. Gakuen Alice 24 - 36.509 [total: 106.199] (2nd week)
22. Gang King 21 - 36.298
23. Ao no Exorcist 2 - 35.399 [total: 329.033] (8th Woche)
24. Cooking Papa 114 - 25.129
25. Principal 1 - 33.649
26. History's Strongest Disciple Ken'ichi 43 - 33.285 [total: 133.536] (2nd week)
27. JUDGE 3 - 33.263 [total: 47.765] (2nd week)
28. Hayate no Gotoku! 28 - 31.316 [total: 142.356] (2nd week)
29. Amagami precious diary 3 - 30.676
30. Ao no Exorcist 3 - 30.038 [total: 326.297] (9th week)

Sadly, it wasn't in the charts of the following week. In that week, the manga at the last position sold 25.374 copies, which means that between 05/30/11-06/05/11 GLO sold less copies than that.

There's a Kinokuniya I can go to in San Francisco. Been tempted to also get the Complete Ed., but the exchange rate of dollar/yen is still in favor of the yen.

If I did understand, you guys are referring to the Japanese edition, right?
That is already available in Amazon Japan (http://www.amazon.co.jp/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_ ... r+16&ajr=0).

As to me, I will be calmly waiting for my Japanese bookshop here in São Paulo. There is no reason to worry. :)

Amazon JP used to have much better shipping rates IIRC. On an $80 order about 2 months back it would add about $40, so it was about break even to get what I wanted in store even with their import markup.

So, I've just checked today that the v16 of GLO will be in this crappy cover update for the new edition instead of the color Yukito version...
http://www.amazon.fr/Gunnm-Last-Order-T ... t+order+16

I think for the first time I will buy the american version of GLO, I will have them way before glenat's but I will have to give up the japanese names...
