I'm a bit confused about how the Solar colonization went by, can you correct me if I'm wrong or complete what I know? Thanks.
Mercury: Covered in "gray goo". Those nanomachines are becoming more intelligent and making complex pseudoorganisms.
Venus: One of the superpowers in the Solar System. Of French ancestry, masters of biotechnology, bend the definition of human. As far as I know, they live in the athmosphere, with the ground level still being the hellish landscape at 90 atm, 450 C, and clouds of sulphuric acid.
Earth: Only Jeru matters in the interplanetary scene. Salem is a lab, and of the surface we have only seen the Scrapyard and desert.
The Moon: It is no longer barren, but I don't know anything else.
Mars: Here is where I get lost. A monarchy, but under conflict since at least 200 years ago, and of German-Japanese ancestry. Seems pretty similar to Earth, has it been terraformed?
Ceres: Seems to have a population.
Jupiter: Another of the superpowers. Its natives also bend the definition of human, being fully mechanic and box-like. The planet is covered with a Dyson sphere, and their inhabitants live in said structure and in its satellites.
Saturn: Jovians are aiming to colonice it.
Uranus and Neptune: If Saturn is still being coloniced, the planets twice and three times as far away from the Sun as Saturn have a bit more to wait.
Pluto: However, a mad scientist got to Pluto 200 years ago, and Trinidad was there stopping him before he was even Trinidad. Still not coloniced, however, kind of the Antarctica of the Solar System.
Eris, Sedna... and other important transneptunian objects recive no attention, so I guess there is still nothing there; fair enough, those are too far away; three times as far away as Pluto when closest to the Sun is a bit too much.
Anyway, is this more or less right?
Geopolitical status of the Solar System?

the earth federation is not only jeru, but also the antipod station on the other side of earth-ring (space city binhar), and luna colony also falls in the earth federation

Re: Geopolitical status of the Solar System?
There are also some independent asteroids. When the SNS' base was destroyed they tried to gain asylum from a few of these, but were refused.
The Mars situation actually reminds me not so much of East and West Germany, because of their German influence, but instead the fragmented nature of the area that became Germany - there used to be several independent principalities and kingdoms (Prussia, Bavaria, Saxony, etc.).
Mars Kingdom Parliament - sponsored by LADDER
Mars Republik Heer - sponsored by Venus
Mars Front der Befrein - sponsored by Jupiter
Neo-Third Reich Division - the new neo Nazis
Zekka mentions that Taraba was from Titan, which is one of Saturn's moons.
Jupiter has only 3 of its moons left after the others were used as material for its Troposphere Project.
Another possible independent entity was the asteroid Buddhist temple that Tunpo was on as a robo-jizo before Zekka destroyed it.
The Earth Orbitary Federation would also include Leviathan I.
LADDER as the Solar System mediatory council has jurisdiction over the Onion Frame and a base on Leviathan I.

Re: Geopolitical status of the Solar System?
I belived that the situation of Mars was influenced by Africa situation or south american nations during the cold-war ( USA-URSS) . The fact that there are other nations that try to gain indirect control over the land without getting directly in a war.

Mars has no defined régime yet. As far as I know, it is impossible to compare that to African countries. The régimes were clear, under apartheid, dictatorships or democracies, but borders were clear most of the times. The existing examples are isolated, and you cannot that the continent as a whole.
As to South America, give up, there is no relation at all. In a certain moment (during the Cold War) all the countries here were ruled by military dictatorships, but the régimes were (unfortunately) clearly defined. There were opponents and even terrorists, but never a lack of governments (au contraire, we had governments in excess, I dare say).
Re: Geopolitical status of the Solar System?
Sorry Sergio, but even now in some borders of Africa there aren't clear, due to the fact the line is in the middle of the desert ( north ) or becose some ethnic do not accept others that live in the some nation. Let's remembre that lot's of African nation today are ex.colonies and they reached indipendence as an ex-colonie, and the was no respect for the original ethnic groups. For them there are several divisions within the nation. I have a Friend he is from Kenya he told me that they do call them self based on the tribe they are original from and not Kenyans, like would belive.Sergio Nova wrote:Mars has no defined régime yet. And during history especially cold-war all little dictatorship where sponsored by CIA or KGB , remember the quote " I know is a bitch but is our bitch". I don't remember know the name but I remember there were a point were a ex-cia agent become a leader of Colombia or Vuenezuela. And there was always one secret service ( cia kgb) trying to take down a ruling party if it was sponsored by the opposite service.

Re: Geopolitical status of the Solar System?
All right, let's c heck:
1. The borders refer to European colonies, not to ethnic groups. That's right, and because of that there are so many problems. The point is: the problem exists because the borders are defined (wrongly and arbitrarily, but they are).
2. The Kenyan case, actually, is the less problematic. They do identify themselves according to the ethnic grops (tribes), but that is common everywhere. All around the world, tribes vary according to religions, languages and even football teams - and even in Europe people identify themselves according to the ethnicity. That does NOT mean Europeans (and also Kenyans) do not have national identities.
3. Quoting Burning Angel: Allegedly, President Franklin D. Roosevelt remarked in 1939 that "Somoza may be a son of a bitch, but he's our son of a bitch" refering to Anastasio Somoza García, dictator of Nicaragua for 20 years, from 1936 to 1956 (although I think that the Latin American members of this forum already know this). I could never be more precise.
4. You must be referring to William Walker, an American agent who became president of Nicaragua (poor Nicaragua, history has always been cruel with the little country). There is a film by Alex Cox, Walker, telling the story. The film is accentric, to say the least, but that is routine when Alex Cox is mentioned. The Americans have tradicionally worked that way. You must be aware that, in the "beginning", Osama Bin Laden was a CIA agent as well, and the Taliban was sponsored by Washington, so…
5. In real history, Brazilian dictatorship used to accuse the Cuban régime of exporting the revolution. As a matter of fact, Brazilian military dictatorship exported their revolution to the whole South America, for God's sake.
Anyway, the point is that the situation on Mars is completely different. The régimes in South America were defined (rightist military dictatorships). The governments in Africa have allways been defined (apartheid, Mugabe's false democracy, Khadafi's autocracy, Idi Amin Dada's buffoonery, some democracies and God knows what else). The government is not defined on Mars.

Re: Geopolitical status of the Solar System?
OK I thinnk we got out of track ( but I enjoyed the history talk ) but I don't really understand:
I just cheacked BAA-last order Vol03 where the situation is explaned and there is written :
Four rougly divided groups currently vy for supremacy:
MRH ( Mars republik Heer ): Mars Republic Army : founded by republic Venus to unify Mars and Make it join the Republic.
MFB ( Mars Front der Befreien ): founded by the jupiter Union to unify Mars and make it join the Union,
Mars kingdom Parliament: LADDER-spearheaded attempt at constitutional monarchy.
I belive that the MKP is the one offical , and the other are not accepted as legal, but they are keept in account becouse of they're militar power. And if you ask why the ladder doesn't order the end of the war, is becose that could start another war where the ladder is on the frontline. And for the ladder is better to keep the heat on mars.
I took this from the scans pubblisced from this site, I hope they' re rigth ( no offence for the translators but it happend that I had discusions to find out the word where incorecr XD )
This situation brouth me to see the similarity with Africa , even if there was a goverment in place if the other powers had better puppet they could use they would putt him on power. And idear is today's Somalia, the coast in the south were controlled by Islamic foundamentalist and didn't accepted the Gov. And they found sponsors to gain money ( iran and other islamic nations ) to start a revolution. At the same time there was a little group of comanded by the general that was sponored by the Cinese gov. to secure the oil and ports for they're prodocts. Becose thy where afraid to lose thy're investment , and that the Somali gov + UN wouldn't use all means to win.
Buy the use of Africa and South america , I didn't wont to generalize the situation of the 2 continents , I just didn't remember all the situations and the spec of all of them. You remembered the 2 cases I talked about before.
