I haven't - I've made a GLO4 cover only.
GLO2 is only planned. Basically, I was speaking about it in that post.

Well, either I dreamed about that one of these days (I am getting old, you see), or it was in the threads you deleted.
Anyway, now I can remember you had not finished it. And you had said something about giving her ass a better shape.

Let's wait, anyway!

I've finally made it.

It doesn't match the original exactly, because it has turned out to be impossible - the original image has distortions, which don't look correct in 3d.
Also, as an experiment, I've changed the style and made it look a bit bit like a hand drawn/painted image.

There was is an error/bug here in the forum, so it's impossible for me to upload an image - I've temporarily put it to the imageshack until it's fixed. Click the small image for the full-res 4000x5000.

PS.
What about the T-pose images (4 versions) - I've decided not to release them yet, because they aren't perfect enough. I'll show them when they will be ready.

The problem is her face. She does not look like Alita. Is there any feasible solution ?

The face is exactly the same as all the previous ones. Maybe it's a light or something makes it look different to you.

Anyway, it looks perfectly fine for me - I wouldn't have released it otherwise.

Sergio,
I think the term that applies here is point of view.
If looking at full REZ, the eyes appear perfectly focused on you.
But in the smaller size, and the eyes appear to not be looking at you, but some where in front
of her face and not on you.

It is simply an illusion, because the art has been done very precise in its focal alignment.

That's because she's looking ahead, not directly at you, From this perspective she should've looked in the center of the picture, this way in low-res she will appear looking directly at you.
And when you resize you just meet her eyes.

This is amazing. I've known a few great animators in my time but these are just now. I especially like the bodies of them. I wonder how hard it is to learn and get to be at that level.

I'v registered just to say how terrific your work is! Bravo! I'm amazed that it's just a hobby for you, actually.

And also i have a question. Is it just my poor memory or Alita really do not have any toes? Even when she's totally naked? Wouldn't that be kinda unstable?
And whan little tiny thing about her face. If you want to make it look realistic and humanlike, you should make it a bit less smooth. Real human faces always have a bit of a wrinkle or skin pores or a little bit of a cheek-bone. Without all that it's a bit doll's face, i guess. Sorry if that sounded critical, I merely wanted to give some advice.

Hello guys!
Long time no post.

Many things have happened and my life has completely changed since last november - there is simply no time for a hobby in it any more. What to say, I've been sleeping averagely 4 hours a day for about 4-5 months in a row.

Nobody cares, but I'll just leave it here as a reason why I've been inactive on this forum for more than a half of a year.
Spoiler:
I went to Finland with my girlfriend for a week, where she has taught me snowboarding. When we have returned and went to a local ski park about a week later, I've broken her both arms by an accident really seriously (three months of recovery to be able to live without my help), I've lived with her and took care of her since she's completely alone in this part of Russia and it's my fault, and finally have cured her.

I've left my job to be able to take care of her all day long - a person with both arms broken is absolutely helpless. Luckily, I've had enough money stashed to be able to afford it.
However, I haven't stopped working - I've been remotely working days and nights in a web startup I've started with three my friends. We plan to open it soon and register a company, so I won't have any time for a hobby for several months too. Also, I've entered a postgraduate in my university, so I'll have a PhD in computer science within several years if I won't be lazy.

My girlfriend draws awesomely and she has taught me to draw when she had her arms broken. I can't draw anything advanced, but, at least, I'm able to draw on the same level as children at school - that's much better than nothing at all.
The funniest thing is that my inability to draw was the main reason we've met two years ago ("I've seen your manga fanart images and you tell me you've never ever drawn??? I can teach you!"), and started dating a bit later.

Long story short, I can even sleep an unthinkable 8 hours a day from now on.
I've had some spare hours several days ago and decided to try redoing Alita's face, which I've had on my 3d model, from scratch. I just wanted to throw away an old face and to make a new one, which doesn't look like a child with a down syndrome. Moreover, I've decided to do that within only one evening, since I didn't have any more spare time.

Honestly, I didn't expect myself to finish it successfully. It's the first acceptable Alita face I've made. I've even succeeded in making the cat eyes (not asian eyes, but cat eyes), just like in the original manga.

Here are some zbrush screenshots, no renders, nothing more serious than that at all. I will use it, when I'll have time to make a new image(s). But for now, I have only this.

And the last thing - here's a finished manga image I've made in November, just before the events described under a top spoiler.

I've got completely stuck with the lighting and colors - I couldn't decide what color and lighting scheme to use, so I've chosen the most contrasty one, simply.

Some lighting variants:

I'm not satisfied with everything - lighting, water, post-processing, and everything else, so I mark it as a failure.

However, I'm not going to redo it since I don't have time and I'm just can't stand this image any more, so I can also call it done.

Nothing says "I love you" more then breaking both your girlfriends arms...

Oh wow, just wow.
With both arm out, doing the most basic task is near impossible.
Brushing teeth, or just going to the toilet.
Good to hear she recovered ok.

As for the new face render.
The first grayscale looks great comparing the 2.
It looks more natural.
The final color render i have mixed feelings but i can count that to it being incomplete without hair/body etc
The eyes are great looking.
I hope you find some free time to stick that head on her body and put some hair on her :)

The last "failure" as you call it, i won't call a failure at all.
This one looks really good.
Since this was just before the accident, i can see where you got the inspiration from

I kid, i kid.

Anyway welcome back and i hope to see more work of you and your gf.
Great to read how you met through manga fanart.

Thank you, Ripper.
Spoiler:

Brushing teeth, or just going to the toilet.
She had a right arm a bit better than the left arm - she could move fingers there, and the elbow wan't fixed also. She did use the toilet by herself, but she couldn't hold the spoon and eat without my help.
And to highlight it once again - it's not a render, it's just a screenshot from zbrush. Of course, there is no hair and no body attached.
What about eyes - they are fake here. I've just put several layers of screenshots from zbrush atop of each other in photoshop.

Crap? No way! There should be an international law prohibiting irresponsible offenses to works of art (even if such offenses come from the artists themselves).

Another small test (not an image from the manga), which I don't want to show it in the full size due to it's extreme bugginess. Just a preview.

Hello, everyone!

Even though the forum is nearly dead, I'll post here.

Unfortunately, I didn't have any time for manga, movies, any other forms of entertainment, and, of course, a hobby this year- I was just sleeping in any free time I could get between work, PhD research, and my girlfriend. I've been visiting the forum frequently, but with no point at all - I'm not up to date with manga completely (I'm 2 years off - the last phase I've read was about 96), so I've been just marking the rare alive topics read without actually opening them to avoid spoilers.

Anyway, the reason I'm writing here is because I'm on a vacation in a warm and sunny place, but with my old and crappy laptop.

I've found a test (non-canonical) image I've made last year, but decided that it's too messed up to show.
However, looking at it now, I can see that it has turned out to be a pure win after some tweaking - the face is finally the way I wanted it to be for all that time of fails.

However, I won't publish it right now - I have some good ideas for it's further imrovement (it's not canonical, so I'm free to experiment - for example, I want to make the background more interesting), I'll publish it about two weeks later, when I come from a vacation and have time to finish it (plus minus a week or so).

For now, I've taken it to photoshop, applied some filters, some scratches, and here it is - a manga cover lookalike.

Anyway.

Here's a fake "scanned cover" version (click for a full image):

Image

The clean and sharp original 3d image is on it's way. Just wait a bit, it's nearly ready.

As promised, here's the finished image, which is a huge improvement over everything I've made up to the date. It's not canonical and is not based on a manga page - it was just a test to check materials and face, but has grown into something nice.

Also it's the most technically advanced of all in terms of post processing, but has fitted into a relatively small time frame which I've set for myself - about 2 days, because I simply don't have any more spare time.

Hope you'll like it.

PS.
I've accidentally found this last year's draft on my hard drive, but I'm not sure if I'll have time to pick it up.

Hi moooV, nice work! The post-proc effects are very nice indeed!

I was wondering, do you have any 3DSmax/blender version of that last image you showed in the spoiler?
