I totally understood this as I was reading it because of Leviathon. Neat.

I can say, that I would understand it before reading GLO for the first time, because of a very good feature of russian educational system (which is, basically, a leftover of a USSR system) - a heavy course of math and physics in all schools and universities, even humanitarian (they have a slightly simplified program, but they still have a lot of it).
Most people are taught things like Lagrangian points (at least, I was told) at the highest grades of school (and my school wasn't a phys-math school - I've graduated from a humanitarian school: law, economics, history, foreign language (English) and all that stuff were main subjects there). Beleive me, if you show this article to nearly any educated person here, he will understand it.
However, a serious drawback of such system is that people like lawyers and historians don't need to know this stuff and, basically, don't give a crap about it - subjects like math analysis and physics are a waste of their time at school.
