It has to be, as it wouldn't make sense unless kishiro is preparing a third series about Alita's adventures, it would enable him to take a break and change art style and storytelling, however such a big change would be announced on the Japanese version of his site, but I can't read Japanese unfortunately.
the only solutions are either to wait or ask Mister Applegate if he heard anything about it.
But for my part I think something has been lost in translation yet again as it was the case when they announced claymore was finished a few months ago. Something like: end of the tiphares arc, or next January BAA enters its final arc.
Let's not panic, just wait and see.

Well damn. Hard to say yet if this is a good thing or a bad thing depending on what YK's plans are but there are still loose threads that haven't been wrapped up. It better not be ending because his readership numbers suck.

My guess is for a sequel manga to involve a timeskip. As long as YK doesn't come out with a third series with the premise that he didn't end LO the way he wanted to so here's the do over or push the ending into a video game.

That would be a shame for the side stories that have to be covered up but let's think about it.

In the original story ending, Fogia find Gally inside Jeru in a sort of cocoon. Now that Fogia is in Zalem, well it is just a matter of time that this sort of ending appears again, in the theory that the first ending was just a squizzed version of what it shoudl have been at first.
Plus as the title is the last order, well, that happened already!

I hope for a third series, change of art a bit and story telling!!

and, this also explains why there is still no date or cover design for the last volume.

I allready got suspicious when things begann to form like in the original ending. A connection between Earth and the space nations being re-established. Figure Four meeting Koyomi (the later being a reporter). Heck Decoy Nova looks exactly like crazy Nova from the original end.

However it seems unlikely that he can wrap up all lose plotlines in that one issue.

So perhaps he just wraps up the saga of the original Gally by having Figure and co find her reborn in a human body. Happy end for them. Wrapping the Earth plotlines up.

Meanwhile the saga of the other Gally can still continue on Mars.

Certainly hope if the later happens she gets depowered.

I really hope the Last Order arc ends just to let place to Gunnm Martian Wars (don't look it up, I just made it up :-) )

I just re-read the 126 ch . And I came to a conlcution 129 can't be the last ch. Ido just got to Salem , and sup-Alita is headed to Mars. the only idea I have is a new organic Alita ( that Nova would tell us is the original ) and she lives happy ever after with Figure Four. But laking the final sacrifice or any climax it can't be repeted. And I don't think it can go so low to copy it self with a uber-enemy in only 3 ch.
I just can't belive the authour would go down this road. I just hope is just the end of this ark ( I can see this ) or the closing of "season 2" and the immideat start of "season 3".

What are your thouth on this ending or do you have other ways it could go down ?

No way this is definitely wrapped up in a couple chapters unless something definitive like the Solar System and Tunpo in his Nirvana dimension are destroyed by who knows what. Super Nova, Tzykrow, Erica, and a one armed Zekka stuck on the Moon are still running around.

I wouldn't be too optimistic about a sequel manga starting immediately. There could be a break or to switch things up, YK could go back to Aqua Knight for a bit, or start some brand new series.

The theory is nonsense. In order to fill in all the gaps (the political situation on Mars, Erica´s fate and actual activities, the independence of Tiphares and the Scrapyard, the SNS settled on Mars, Super Nova's fate and so on) he would certainly need much more than a single volume. If he decides to accelerate the events, without creating new ones, he would need three volumes, to say the least, but fact is that new mysteries have raised in Tiphares - what has happened to the population?

In short, that does not make sense.

I am definitely voting for a third series, this would undoubtedly solve legal issues between publishers as the new series would be kodansha's in its entirety, so Kishiro was certainly asked to reach a point in his series where he could end it, to start a new one. this would enable kodansha to renegotiate, make new covers, and as I said before be an opportunity for Kishiro to change his art style and story telling.

Well, the cast is set for Mars, and we did get closure on the phrase "Last Order" so I feel confident that we haven't seen the end yet. "Gunnm: Mars" works for me.

I think maybe full-flesh Alita will happen...and she will have her memories back to the Granite Inn, possibly with restored memories of Mars...whatever...interesting character to retire with Figure and have a lot of babies with, I guess. I think Brain-Bio-Chip Alita might wind up as a third quantum being, minimally, if not another entity-with-body.

Otherwise, I could really dig on a sequel about just Sechs, Elf and Zwelf; they are bro-tight with Zazie. They are the ZOTT champions...that sounds like it might be an interesting place to be?

I really have been thinking of ZOTT in a newer, more positive light. The finale is amazing in my opinion. Zekka and Tunpo were pretty cool, imho. BUT, with this new cancellation possibility it really will remove BAA from my recommend as this mind blowing thing, because there is no way it will be satisfying to end like this. I mean, after that bullshit with the Vampires, which I enjoyed actually, I feel like he could get 3 volumes of 10 year old Yoko training...

I just accepted ZOTT as a step in the Journey, but for that to be the real finale of BAA, more or less, is a little disappointing.

The good news is we have been here before : ) Maybe YK will do a do over from when Alita got destroyed, multiple times, in the ZOTT : ) I guess Tunpo could reframe a new reality, so to speak, that might be fun.

I don't think her memories will be limited by those.
If she gets fully human, then she will learn of the chip Alita.
That will start the whole "who is real" drama all over again.
She made peace with that while lingering with zeus and arthur.
If that state of mind transfers to her biological self also then there is no struggle.

I think they get synced and go their separate ways.
Maybe they even sync once in a while via some form of quantum entanglement.
In a concious or unconcious way (dreams).

In a way just like sechs and mini sechs, just very seperate :)

ooo...quantum linked full flesh adventurer...weird to think she might hurt a full flesh body for sure, not to mention a strong storytelling likelyhood that she will get pregnant, I hope. Full flesh Alita as the main character would just be a massive fresh start. There is no way he will take too long a break I think.

Man...if fata-morgana Alita was in Sechs's backup, or a kimji or whatever, Ping comes out of coma...so much spinoff potential, I feel really good about how it goes from here.

Well the original ending had nova explaining the nano traces from the tree were recombined into a fully flesh Alita.
With a brain in this version, it won't take nano traces, but just "rebuilding her with provided dna.

So you end up with: Biological Alita vs Chiptuned Alita.
One stays on earth as Figure's lover and the other one goes to Mars as a secret agent of Zeus and Arthur.
So what storyline (if there is to be a continuation) will be told.

I guess the Mars Alita, and in much lesser degree or nothing, the earth Alita.
Souped up nova went there, the secret kunstler woman is there, her origins are there...

Now since the wormhole reactor, key to melchizedek and the abundant quantum entanglement elements told.
Not a really far fetched theory that they will be linked in some way.

Still all of this is just that...theory.
But the earth Alita part could have somewhat closure, focusing only on the Mars story.
I mean, Alita knows her history (if they get synced) and is reunited with Figure...
Still a lot of lose ends tho...Lou being one...
I mean one of the bigger reasons for the rescue.
(remember she went up the elevator to get her brain back! Even if she can't remember past her 18th birthday.)

Ahhh so many idea's, so many lose threads that need to be tied....all in 2 chapters.
I hope Kishiro makes at LEAST a 60 page final chapter!
I mean what can be told in just 21...

Alita finishing 100% human would be a romantic ending, especially to Figure as her lover, although unnecessary - Nova had made clear that the imaginos body is able to emulate any natural function, that must include even certain ones we have already speculated about.

Anyway, Melchizedek would probably fuse the memories in the brainchip with the organic brain, why not?

Actually, as I cannot believe the series will end so abruptly, this text does not need to make sense. :D

Well given that the arc is called Gally Quest, the quest has to end somehow with a reunion, we can conclude that. What form Alita assumes though is still up in the air. I think there is more likelihood of Figure becoming more cyber than Alita going full flesh and blood if something happens to him than a cyborg and organic Alita running around. The wormhole core reactor, regenerating Imaginos cels, and full plasma capabilities in particular couldn't exist in an organic body and because Figure has become part cyborg now that actually brings them closer.

Still, depending on how much of Martian Memory YK adapts, the Earth characters could go into space and meet up with Alita there, same as the video game ending.

After thinking about it, I couldn't find any info about the end of Gunnm on Yukito's website. Which seems a bit odd to me.

What if, I don't know, that the message on the kodansha issue was misinterpreted has the end of Gunnm instead of the end of the Alita's quest arc?

I did the same , and came up with the idea ( or the less probable the start of a 3° Alita series)

Let's hope so

If he wanted to make money, and probably piss off people for what would be insanely violent and appealling to kids; then he should just do 1-2-3? I don't know, as many as he feels like, of young teenage Yoko...make it kind of like Naruto in that sense... Naruto has hinted at other ages where kids were used in battle more prevalently...we KNOW in our hearts that Panzer Kunstler Yoko was probably on missions by age 10. I might get worried if it stretched on for 10+ books, but that would be a cool place to go, in my opinion. "Panzer Kunst Academy" works for me as a title. Kid Cyborg Commandos bashing people's skulls in, literally, might be good reading and be a real sweet Hollywood package, a la the Young Adult scene. Man I want this. I think wanting Flashbacks of her memory are a big part of what got me hooked on Alita originally...I wanted her to get her memory back. Up until now, the flashbacks we have gotten have been really special. I want more of that Mars action.

He kind of fucked up the future, I think, a little bit, by making Sechs so powerful, and who knows what bio-chip Alita will be like; although to expect an equivalent super-powerful body is a given. Sechs's, plus anyone else's arrival on Mars, can't possibly not be a big deal. She is a significant component of an interplanetary scale weapon system. Obviously Zazie and Limeira would welcome them as an opportunity to make a significant boost in their entire defense load out...Maybe I am wrong about how significant ZOTT excellence will translate to real world, open combat?
