Mu-Kai (oneshot) by Yukito Kishiro

Post by FluffyMcMittens »

Here's the oneshot that was released with the first chapter of gunnm mars chronicle.
Made by Yukito Kishiro while based on an original sci-fi story from Hirotaka Tobi.
As said, its a oneshot, so not that long, but its a great little story nonetheless.

Enjoy!

Thanks for posting this!

For something a little different...Although you could take these characters and drop them in Mars Chronicle.

I was fortunate enough to pick up the first chapter of MC last October in JPN, but didn't notice this, the first chapter of MC was too overpowering.

YK's art is really getting to be on a whole other level of quality when you compare it to anyone else. Frankly this story didn't grab me, at all, but the draftsmanship is just standard amazing YK.

Look at a Jim Lee, who is clearly just spinning his wheels, with maybe his best work 20 years ago, while YK is just getting better and better. It is really cool that Gunnm is still on the shelf.

Looked through my copy of Evening. Mars Chronicle leads off the issue, while Mu-Kai is buried towards the middle.

In between is the new manga by Hiroya Oku, mangaka of Gantz, called Inuyashiki. That intrigued me since the chapter ends with this naked woman confronting a 7 foot tall yakuza with a katana and I wanted to know WTH would happen next.

I've seen that one when looking at the first scan of GMC and I'm also caught now! I liked gantz so that one seems to follow the expectations.

As for mu-kai, I must say that I kind of liked it, even for a one shot, drawings are good and the story is fine for a sf novel.
