Actually, I cannot say I like the route the story is taking.
In volume 1 we saw their friendship gaining stronger roots, and now we learn Yoko killed Erica?
It is not the sort of development I would expect.

Well, remember the Yoko we saw from the flashback at the end of Hyper Future Vision. Or the glimpse we saw of her during the Camranh incident.Sergio Nova wrote:Actually, I cannot say I like the route the story is taking.

Its jarring in context, but it shouldn't be all that surprising. Kunstler training changed her, and probably not for the better. In either version, adult Yoko was a fanatic who killed with very little remorse, even comrades, so long as it was in service to their cause.

Yes, and fanatic terrorism (well, that is a pleonasm!) makes people able to exterminate their own progeny in the name of God (whichever one such a God is) or in the name of a political cause, but in my romantic interpretation (or naïveté, probably), I saw Erica as a unique character, and I would bet her ties with Yoko would never be dissolved.ChaosConfetti wrote: Its jarring in context, but it shouldn't be all that surprising. Also, I would say Yoko had a great respect and a nonpareil admiration for her benefactor. I am now afraid to learn that she killed Gerda as well.

Thanks for the scanlation!
The reveal that Yoko somehow caused Erica's death (and it wouldn't suprise me if she did it with her own hands) doesn't irk me much, especially that we don't know the exact circumstances; rather, it makes me interested in what happened between them before that. But if it turns out that Yoko killed Gerda, now that will piss me off.
Hmm, now being reminded of Gerda made me think... What if Erica killed Gerda, and that was what made Yoko kill her in turn?
For now the whole concept of the necro-soldier is what bothers me the most, really. It feels so... superfluous. (Well, that, and the art getting more and more minimalistic and sometimes quite cartoony, though I know, I know, I should just get used to it and stop whining.)

Erica should be more important to Yoko than Gerda, I think.Silvery wrote: Hmm, now being reminded of Gerda made me think... What if Erica killed Gerda, and that was what made Yoko kill her in turn?
It is true that Gerda saved them both from the militaries, but Erica saved Yoko even before that and protected her afterwards, so there is no comparison.

Thank you very much!

We're getting set up for an ultimate villain reveal at some point who has been using cyborg zombies to do their dirty work.
Predicting:
-The left arm gets regenerated.
-Koyomi published about Figure and Alita.
-Erica starts cooperating with Alita and becomes dead dead after helping her out one final time.

There's still Super Nova and what ever monstrosity he's turned Tzyk into.AR-99 wrote:We're getting set up for an ultimate villain reveal at some point who has been using cyborg zombies to do their dirty work.

Maybe even a conclusion fight for Sechs & Alita but I'm doubtful on this.
Re: Gunnm - Mars Chronicle 008 (part 2) Is out!
Exactly. I wonder what Tzyk's greatest desire was and what shape Nova has given it.

I think that Yoko got Erica to smoke 5 packs of sigarettes a day, a few bottles of single malt whisky before waking up and at least two Big Macs by every greasy meal at an early age so she would one day have a massive heartfaillure.D3sty wrote:MrFaber wrote:Spoiler:

caught up the chapter, kind of a let down about Erika cause it's a death flag before we learn anything. Kishio is still exploring all the what is human/machine, life/death theme I guess, and we kow Gally "died" a lot already. We are up for several flashbacks before the resolution I guess.
Also as far as the reveal is done, I guess it was some honor thing. Very Japanese.

Perhaps Erika "died" when Grunthal was bombed, that's why Alita said she killed her. Just my two cents.Dream wrote: Also as far as the reveal is done, I guess it was some honor thing. Very Japanese.
