Movie delayed
Apparently Fox is delaying a few of their movies including Alita Battle Angel and now Alita will be released around December same time as Aquaman, Bumlebee, and a Will Ferrell/John C. Reilly comedy entitled "Holmes and Watson" Don't you think the Alita movie will be in trouble because of its stiff competition?
Re: Movie delayed
I assume it's due to them not wanting to compete with the movie ant-man and the wasp or Incredibles 2 as those will most likely be very popular at July.RockyRaccoon wrote:Apparently Fox is delaying a few of their movies including Alita Battle Angel and now Alita will be released around December same time as Aquaman, Bumlebee, and a Will Ferrell/John C. Re: Movie delayed
That delay only would be good if it was used to fix what is wrong in the movie (at the very least her damn fucking eyes). It doesn't matter when they release it since always there will be competition.

Re: Movie delayed
Well the good thing is kodansha will have all alita stuff released way before so if new people watch in theaters they could get entire series bought in 1 go. I'm wondering if fox's decision will make randomhouse delay the movie tie in artbook though as it's already got cover posted?
Re: Movie delayed
I don't mind the delay as long as it's for the better. It also helps Fox that Solo is coming out in May vs. December, when the last 3 Star Wars movies were released.
Re: Movie delayed
There is an October deadzone, maybe then. Christmas is not good for our little gem. I like the eyes. I think it is better that she is clearly not human.

Re: Movie delayed
Honestly, I don't think the reasons for the delay is anything about that since it isn't the only movie being delayed right now so in all likelihood it might be due to something internal within the company itself. I'm only worried for the film's competition because now it's in direct competition with both a DC movie(One that seems to be getting the same treatment Wonder Woman had) and a Transformers spin-off and considering the fact that Alita isn't as well known as either I feel like that might be a notice for a concern.
Either way, I hope it still does end up doing well despite it's competition

She is human! Quoting her: I believe that I am human, that is enough. It would be plain obvious that she isn't an average human because of her body. She is a cyborg, not a fucking alien!Martin wrote:I like the eyes. I think it is better that she is clearly not human.
One of Alita's main qualities is that she is so human, so passional, she cares so much about other peoples' feelings, even in spite of having the body of a machine. Her humanity should be emphasized in the movie, not the opposite.

Re: Movie delayed
That's the main theme of battle angel in general it isn't the exterior that make us human but the opposite and the way the series displays that is beautiful, kamugin wrote:She is human! But, as far as I know, DCEU has bad reputation.RockyRaccoon wrote:Honestly, I don't think the reasons for the delay is anything about that since it isn't the only movie being delayed right now so in all likelihood it might be due to something internal within the company itself. Sherlock is overdone, like Arthur, which failed at box office.
Don't know much about Transformers' reputation as an action movie. Probably people don't like it much. too.
BUT, Alita is also cyberpunk and Blade Runner 2049, which is classic's sequel and cyberpunk, failed at box office.
I guess, Alita now needs more atmospheric and Action-packed trailer, with fixed eyes.

Re: Movie delayed
I hope we get a director's or extended cut dvd/blu ray release with a lot of extras as extras are mostly the price as it's on tv 9 months after theaters usually. Plus I would like to see all the stuff cameron had to do to get fox execs to green light it.

This is exactly what I try to argue with people whenever they bring up the eyes.
Re: Movie delayed
Instead of eyes they should've used makeup to accenctuate her octy lips XD it'd have been cheaper than cg eyes.
Re: Movie delayed
considering how bitter I am with that movie, it can be delayed forever as far as I'm concerned. If bumblebee is a competition for it, then seriously, it can rest in peace.

Re: Movie delayed
Dunno why you have to be so bitter about it to be honest, I mean any additional Alita material is good for me because there's so little adaptations and media attention towards Alita but to know that they're actually making a big budget live-action adaptation of one of my favorite manga of all time makes me absolutely elated.Dream wrote:considering how bitter I am with that movie, it can be delayed forever as far as I'm concerned. Re: Movie delayed
That we have yet to see. All we got so far are reprints and "de luxe" editions, nothing really new (yes, we got the artbook, but was it prompted by the movie?). Movie related merchandising have no interest to me at all.RockyRaccoon wrote: Dunno why you have to be so bitter about it to be honest, I mean any additional Alita material is good for me because there's so little adaptations and media attention towards Alita but to know that they're actually making a big budget live-action adaptation of one of my favorite manga of all time makes me absolutely elated.
