Wow, a really dark but calculated move by Erica.
She has the will to survive by any means .
Mommy was meant to die anyway, i just never thought Erica was the one killing her.

Her final words: Erica is a daft cunt!
It was about time, thank you.
This fourteen pages per month format is lame.
Spoiler:
My image of Erica wasn't that of a psycho, this is yet another bad development.

The Hell is here, life itself is hell and humans are at the same time the demons and the damned.

if you notice the pattern it's first half chapter (15 pages) than two weeks break than the second half chapter (16 pages) than 4 weeks break (2 issue skip) just to get another first half chapter than two week for second half chapter etc. Really hate this pattern as I wouldn't mind if it was just 2 weeks all the time.
I said I wanted to wait for more chapters but I decided to catch up the 3 chapters I missed seeing the comments got me sceptical. I think this chapter has some plot holes and I will explain what I mean first:
Spoiler:
1. if Erica wanted to kill the mother all along why arrange a meeting with bounty hunters and give huge sum of money. 2. How could Yoko not deduce Erica is responsible as there were only 3 people 3. Why does Erica think this is the only way to survive when she had an important note from Das. 4. Erica latest action is very jarring when you see her crying her heart out at Das and ask him to be her father and even resort to give more money to persuade him
Erica definitely has parent issue and asking a few people to either become her father or mother. This plot point doesn't even make sense and I'm very sadden by this kind of sloppy writing, I guess no ones perfect

1. When did she say that she wanted to kill the mother all along? I got the impression that she just came up with that idea.
2. Since when is Yoko that good at deduction? She also trusts Erica and she did not even think about anything. For now, at least.
3. I think, at p04, she accepted, that there was no other choice and etc, so she no longer cares about that. A bit rushed, I'd say, but makes sense. Oh, and dead needs no money

That actually answered all my questions actually except, why would Erica enjoy killing Yoko's mother, I mean she was crying when Das left her and given her parent issue and desperate attempt to have surrogate parents I'm amazed she was smiling I mean if she was sad, or feeling guilty that I would understand but she lost her chance at having Yoko's mother as her surrogate parent and instead she was feeling really proud of herself with no remorse whatsoever

Yeah, that was the rushed part. I can only say, that she no longer cares about her, because that woman now can't be her mother and Erica accepted that, thus there is no reason to be sad about woman. I would like her to be sad, tho. Probably she didn't exactly enjoy killing her, more like relief, because she and Alita now will stay alive

One thing I still don't get is why Erica is so attached to Yoko. It seems her order of importance is:
Yoko>Erica(herself)>parental figures>absolutely everything else
I mean Yoko is basically useless right now aside from her connections to the Martian royalty side(?). I can see that Erica has crazy strong self-preservation but I never expected her protective tendencies to go that far.

Spoiler:
If not Yoko, then who? she is like a single light in her life and she also tolerates here, so Erica is attached. Without Yoko, she basically has no one, with whom she can live a happy life. She was easily attached to damjan, too. I am not sure about her order of importance, she never had a chance to make a choice, did she?
She also had doubts when she made up negative things here https://goo.gl/orscJU
And here, while meeting Alita after some time, she probably prioritezes these doubts. Otherwise, her reaction would have been identical to Yoko's. https://goo.gl/h2WwSd
And hides here, lets say, another side from Yoko. Muster, "Mother" and etc knew that side and as Erica knows, they are not innocent. Yoko is. To mother and cowboy, she was making sure(Like, with money), that they would not hurt them(Erica and Yoko)
This page can also explain why she hides it. https://goo.gl/pmnRH8
Hope I covered everything. That explains to me, why Erica cares about Yoko so much.
But I still want it to be explored more, because why not.
If only Mars Chronicle was not so rushed and pages were 40-45 per month...
The time between new chapters makes difficult to see the whole picture and miss the consistence (?) in Erica's actions, but I still think that plot wise this arch leaves a lot to be desired.

When I think about it that way, that's why she is happy maybe it's like you said actually she cares for Yoko more than the Mother, and she knows its impossible for her to save both, makes me wish she didn't make an arrangement with the bounty hunter and give up a good amount of money makes that particular action entirely pointless.
Also this struck my mind recently, why was Erica carrying a switchblade this whole time I mean why does she even need, kind of convenient she just so happens to have it LOL

I agree sometimes I feel like the chapter finish abruptly (there's a difference between abruptly and cliffhanger), wish the editors let Yukito work on a monthly magazine instead as that would benefit all of us.

If I recall correctly, she was trained with knives and if you have a plan, you need an equipment
Agreed about chapters and plot. At least, it may serve as a build-up. It may also improve arc of present time
Really hate how the plot is slooooowly moving since Mars Chronicles started, next to nothing happens in each new chapter. I've been reading the original Gunnm and Dragon Ball lately, and is amazing how much story manga artists squeezed in a few pages in the 90s. I don't know, maybe YK wants to strech this 20 years more, so he has a paycheck guaranted until he retires. 5 volumes have been released so far, and I don't remember the last time we saw Gally in present time.
I think I need a break from this, 2 or 3 years are enough I hope.

I hope Mars Chronicle doesn't go down in history as being the third one in a trilogy kind of series, first and last order were awesome.
I think one of the things that makes it slow is how the stupid half chapter structure feels too abrupt and incomplete. also I think this important to say it lacks focus, the characters and author has not shown any clear concise goals to know how much progress is made, I mean who knows this pacing could go on forever (exaggerating of course hopefully). Real knew how to do pacing, even if its 30 pages per 2 months, it still feels important and very well paced. Too bad the author of Real is on a 4 year break and he's not even sick, I think his millions of dollars of wealth is what causing him to be so laxed lately
So Mrfaber do you still think Mama is still Nollin
Might be, but i think she have been dismissed too quickly. If she is Nollin she shoud interact somehow with Muster and despite she hadn't died yet, it's seems unlikely now.

Maybe Muster's cd treasure could save her somehow, the battle angel alita universe can revive people as we seen many times, just now sure if they have that kind of ability in this era yet.
kamugin wrote:P.S.: The last time we saw her was when Nova was about to ask her to be his girlfriend in exange for him fixing the zombie thing in Erica's brain.
Holy shit, you are right. That was 2 years and some change ago.
If I wait a couple of years maybe I'm going to catch when Gally and Erica have their first period!
