Alita Necklace
Something I 3D printed for my daughter. Any other ideas?

Re: Alita Necklace
Someone should make a merchandise out of chibi alita or chibi sechs during tuned arc. That would be interesting
Re: Alita Necklace
Silhouettes are easy. Proper 3D a bit harder. And I can only do monochrome on my current printer. But if you point me at some artwork you like I'll see what I can rig up.

3D printer, nice.
Well you could add the contours of the face/clothing etc by varying the depth.
The image you use, add lineart and setup the lineart as an extra layer on top of the base layer.
That material is paintable right?
Painting it would make it even better.
My thoughts, a 3D printable Alita garage kit

Re: Alita Necklace
I've got ZBrush and, if I was more of an artist, I could actually try to model her properly. But I'm more of a programmer than an artist and have got a ways to go before I can do a decent job of that.
You can sort of paint the surface, but it isn't quite solid and flat. After I took that picture I went over it with some nail polish to try to fill in the gaps and make it smoother. But it's also hollow a lot of what it did was suck in the polish and it didn't end up enough improved to take a second picture. We've had some luck spray painting the stuff we've printed. But that still ends up monochromatic. We have plans to get some "primer" colored spray paint, and see if we can start with that, then paint on top. But, again, I'm not much of an artist. So I'm not sure I could do it justice.
At my wife's suggestion, I did a second design where I did cut-outs for her eyes. (I haven't printed it yet.) It's kind of cool, but I had to mess with their size and placement. I thought doing her panzer kunst stripes would be striking, but I think they would get lost or just be confusing at the silhouette level. Maybe I should paint those on. Hmm.
