I've been re-reading the full Gunnm/Last Order, just to recap in general and to refresh my memory for the movie...
I was wondering, at the end of Last Order, when Gally (the original one) is re-printed by the Biovivern Bioprinter, using her brain's DNA as a bluemark, the resulting flesh and blood Gally is now a full body clone of Nollin? Apparently she couldn't be anything else. How could a Maske Tumor have it's own original DNA? Or could it?
So, the flesh and blood Gally...

Tumor is a generic rather than a specific term. But certainly many types are caused by a genetic mutation and are typically formed of one cell type. Clearly a maske tumor is made up of many different cell types, so we're already in speculation land. I would say that it has added its own twist to Nollin's DNA, rather than possessing its own. There are viruses that insert sequences of their DNA into their host's DNA. If I were novelizing the story, I'd make the maske tumor the result of a virus that was released as the trap.
Re: So, the flesh and blood Gally...
considering reasonably smart people thought she could pass as Kagura's daughter...child, not clone.
Re: So, the flesh and blood Gally...
Now, late Kishiro style tend to make most of female faces look kinda the same, but i think hi openly cheated making Kagura look like an elegant version of Gally, to lure us into thinking it's was actually a Maske tumor detatched from Kagura. While Nollin don't look anything like her.
Re: So, the flesh and blood Gally...
Actually i doublechecked the panels, and Nollin looks a lot like Gally. It's the exagerate smiling expression that deceives.
Re: So, the flesh and blood Gally...
It hasn't been established whether the masque tumors are clones or have other dna contributions.
Re: So, the flesh and blood Gally...
Another HUGE HUGE..really the biggest mystery of the series left at this point...does Mars have ancient history? The entire timeline isn't that long I believe.
1-200 years of Mars, even with fantasy quantum computer guidance couldn't have yielded the ancient ruins, that contained the Masque Tumor...
No way are the tumors intended to be clones.

Well, reading the wiki, the "Secret Treasure of Mars" was attributed to the "Nine Great Kings" who colonized Mars in ES 235. Yoko was born in 370. So that's a hundred and thirtyish years. Things can age fast. (In Ireland most "ruins" only started becoming ruinous when England changed the tax laws and taxed every building with a roof. So they chopped the roofs out of all the old castles that weren't being active used and they became ruins pretty quickly.) Especially in Mars, with all the warfare.
So Martial folklore doesn't point to a pre-colonization origin. I'd have to dig up the issues again to see how "ancient" the place appeared. But heavy stonework is not implausible if it was built before the baldachrain (? membrane thingy) was put up to hold the atmosphere in.

Re: So, the flesh and blood Gally...
I initially thought that the treasure of Mars, the "immortality medicine" was actually the mathusalization technology. But the technology was later developed on Venus and a few years after Muster found the treasure it was still unavailable at the Grünthal valley, so they had to rely on the necrosoldiers technology to survive.
So, what might the treasure be? The necrosoldier technology itself? Might that be the base of later mathusalization?
Another thing i can't menage to understand.
Back on the very first issue (28 damn years ago!) Ido says that the reason why Gally survived 200 years in the scrap pile was because her braine hybernated somehow. And i presume the initial idea Kishiro had was just this.
Yet in the first chapter of Last Order, Nova says that her brain have been altered by nanotechnology (before he plays with it) in a way he had never seen before.
What coult that be? Is this the mathusalization, which Nova don't know yet, since he never had contacts with the Ladder and the Solar Sistem societies? That could be a good reason why her brain didn't age in 200 years.
Or is she too a necrosoldier maybe? Why would Gally have access to mathusalization while the other Kunstler had not? I mean, apart Tsykrow/Raven Tsi, who survived Grünthal on his own way and could have been mathusalized later.
